OXFORD AND THE (FAMOUS) ASHMOLEAN MUSEUM

Today we travel to Oxford the city of “Dreaming Spires” Included in our price is an
optional short guided tour of part of the the Ashmolean Museum after which you have
the rest of the time to view the many exhibits at your own pace or visit the numerous
attractions that Oxford has to offer (at your own cost).
The Ashmolean Museum was established
in 1683 and is the oldest public museum in
the UK and one of the oldest in the World.
It is home to one of the most important
collections of Art and Archaeology in the
World, spanning civilization both East and
West, from the Neolithic era to the
present day.
A guided tour of the Museum’s Highlights lasts approximately one hour and will take
place when we arrive and after which you are free to explore the exhibits at your own
pace or, alternatively, enjoy the many attraction of the City. The Museum has an
excellent café on the top floor with views over the roofs of Oxford. (refreshments at
your own cost).
This visit is not recommended for those with walking difficulties.
Members and guests who do not wish to tour the Museum may leave the coach
and enjoy the City at their own pace and will be told where and at what time to
meet the coach for the return journey to Purbeck.
