Product Overview

Powder coatings are based on polymer resins, combined with curatives, pigments, levelling agents, flow modifiers, and other

additives. These ingredients are melted, mixed, cooled, and grounded into a uniform powder like baking flour. A process called

Electrostatic Spray Deposition (ESD) is typically used to achieve the application of the powder coating to a metal substrate. This

application method uses a spray gun, which applies an electrostatic charge to the powder particles, which are then attracted to the

grounded part.

Powder coating is divided into two main coating systems, namely thermoplastic and thermoset systems, based on resin type.

Thermoplastic coatings are frequently used for items such as mechanical parts and other items that might eventually re-mould.

Thermoplastic coating offers a combination of strength and flexibility and is ideal for items that require both plasticity and durability.

They can be re-melt because no chemical process occurs. Thermoset coatings are ideal for metal items such as electronics and

appliances, because these items must withstand higher amounts of heat than thermoplastic coatings. This type of coating provides

superior chemical and heat resistance, which helps to reinforce the structural integrity of an item.

• Powder coating is a solvent-free method of coating objects with dry, finely

grounded paint particles. The main benefit of this process is that it avoid the

environmental and economic costs of petroleum solvents used in traditional

liquid coatings.

• Polyester: Polyester powder offers strong adhesion properties and excellent gloss retention when exposed to UV elements. Due

to their strong weathering characteristics and lower chemical resistance, polyester powders are typically used in fencing, outdoor

decorative items as well as lawn and garden furniture.

• Hybrid: Provides excellent flexibility and smoothness, not recommended in applications where weather resistance is critical.

Mostly used for indoor applications.

• Epoxy: Offers excellent adhesion, exhibits a strong resistance to chemicals and corrosion. However, epoxies can only withstand

minimal UV exposure. Over-exposure to UV rays can lead to loss of gloss as well as chalking of the finished product. So, it is

generally used for interior-based products.

• Acrylic: Acrylic powder coatings are smooth, durable, provide finish coating. It features outstanding weatherability and good

chemical, stain, and filiform corrosion resistance.

• Polyurethane: It is used for both decorative and functional products that have exterior exposure, have very strong

weatherability characteristics, offers excellent anti-corrosion performance and resistant to humidity.
