My Journey from a Normal life to Sashastra Seema Bal Cadets

It was never an easy decision for me to go for SSB (Service selection

board exam- SSB is set up by the Ministry of Defence of India to

conduct the interview for recruiting officers in Indian Armed

Forces i.e. Army, Air Force and Navy) especially when your soul

needs a lot of healing. And when you are already working in a very

reputed organization and a very fine job profile there will always be a

kind of resistance initially.

It wasn’t a day decision, the clarity to go for it came gradually. I believe

it started with let’s give it a thought and increased as the day I filled the

form to the day my exam date came and to the date I was standing at the

Gate of my Centre, finally clearing all the tests.

Inauguration of Dhoundiyal Block at MCEME Secunderabad-

Living moments of my Husband...!

Talking about the first thought I remember; it was when I visited

MCEME Secunderabad for the inauguration of Block which is now

named after my husband 'Dhoundiyal' Block. SSB gave me a chance to

live those moments my Husband went during his SSB.

I felt he too would have gone through similar Adrenaline Rush, Anxiety,

and curiosity. I felt years back Major Vibhuti would be at the same spot

where I’m standing, it makes me feel closer to him.

Preparation of SSB Exam:

To prepare for SSB was equally not an easy task. Initially, there was a

lot of inner resistance I faced but I was glad to have such a supportive

family. The next challenge was Time Management as working in

corporate, I used to come home quite late at times 11:00 PM as well and

leave for work around 10:00 AM, there was dire need to take some time

for self-study.

Since my Graduation, I made a point to read at least an e-newspaper. But

to prepare for SSB it needs more effort. Whenever I used to be in the

cab, I used to Utilise that time to read through some books, listen to

YouTube lessons, some other online content and make quick small

notes.

Not only Aptitude but right Attitude makes a Huge Difference in

your Life

I always heard it is not only the aptitude that matters but also the attitude

that makes a big difference, so I knew I have to be positive or if at times

it gets difficult to remain positive let’s be neutral at least, but definitely

not to carry a negative attitude. So, I started to read some good books

and see some funny Cartoon movies, talking more with my family, I also

started to write how I felt about the whole situation.

Work out- Morning 7.30 to 12.30- Weekends

One of the most important things that helped me not only to think

positively but also to have little more faith and confidence in me was

Workout. I started to do some exercise to channelize my energy, my

emotions in a constructive manner started to eat a healthier diet. This has

also helped me to focus better.

How Maj.Vibhuti Dhoundiyal Inspired you!!

It takes a lot of courage to be like him. I always felt he shaped my world

in a better way. But today I like to specifically thank him for helping me

to shape it professionally.

1) He taught me how important it is to be more focused on what we want

to be in life. During placement, when we all were in the rat race of

getting the best package ignoring the fact if we are really passionate

about that job or profile, I remember he said 'I can understand you may

not be sure if you are passionate about that profile or job but you need to

be sure that you are not going for something you clearly have negative

views or something you know you never be happy about'.

2) He always taught me If you want to do something, do it today don't

leave it for tomorrow. What we have is today utilize it more efficiently.

In the rat race we sometimes ignore family and feel we can postpone it

some other day. Always remember if you can do it today just do it. But

also make sure you don't shed your other responsibilities.

3) He always said & followed a Golden rule 'Always have a purpose in

life'. I wish I too can find one.

4) Be dedicated & it's ok to fail sometimes.

On International Women’s Day, what is the most important

message you want to send out to young students and

professionals

Always have vision and goal in life and one must aim to be selfindependent.

For doing it, it’s important to upgrade your skillset and

broaden your learning curve. And as a human, we all can fail but what

matters is Acceptance and working on weak points, a will to try it again.

Don't wait for the end to come, in order to start something new- we just

need to break the monotony and start new beginning from the middle of

the story”.
