St. Moritz ski area is excellent, especially for intermediates.
It has 58 lifts and 350km of pistes and is divided
into four separate sectors. The bottom lift is at 1,800m
and the top of the ski area at 3,305m.
Winter olympics
St Moritz is one of three cities that have hosted the
Winter Olympic Games twice: in 1928 and in 1948.
The town also hosted the 1934, 1974 and 2003
Alpine Skiing World Championships.
Natural bob run
The oldest and world‘s last remaining natural bob run
was opened in 1904. The 1722 meter long ice channel
- also known as the world‘s biggest „ice sculpture“- is
built every winter from the ground up with only snow
and water. The bob run hosted numerous world championships
and was used in both Olympic Winter Games.
St. Moritz rests at 1856 meters above sea level amidst the Upper Engadin Lake
District. Its position in the south of Switzerland, close to the frontier with Italy,
gives it a rare combination of snow reliability and 322 sunshine days each year.

Audi in St. Moritz
At the end of the World Cup Season 2015/16 the
best alpine skiers gather in St. Moritz to compete
in the decisive final races under conditions fit for
a World Championship. The location of the World
Cup Finals is always the World Championship
destination of the following year; this is the major
test for the
organizing
team of the
FIS Alpine
World Ski
Championships
2017.
To get in the
mood for the
ski racing circus, it is worth to visit the quattro
BAR at the top station located at an elevation of
2,486 meters. The quattro BAR illustrates the collaboration
between Audi, its partners in St. Moritz
and winter sports in an ideal way.
Lakes and Mountains
The Engadin St. Moritz region owes its worldwide
renown not least to the extraordinary
beauty of its high, lake-strewn plateau.
The four big lakes (St. Moritz, Silvaplana,
Champfèrer and Silser) are located at an
elevation of over 1,800 meters.
The South Eastern Alps are majestic monuments
thrust upwards millions of years
ago by the meeting of continental plates.
Nestled in the Bernina massif, St. Moritz
shares three of Switzerland’s most legendary
alpine areas: Diavolezza, Corviglia
and Corvatsch. The permanent presence of
Piz Bernina (4.049 m), the highest peak in
the eastern Alps, is a wonderful
sight to behold.
Villages
The resort is divided into three separate villages
around or near the lake. Dorf, on the shore of the
lake, is the glitzy one with most of the five- and
four-star hotels as well as the pick of shops, nightlife,
and restaurants.
St Moritz Bad is less than 2km - a four-minute drive
– away, and an altogether quieter and less showy
location.
Celerina, 3km away on the other side of Dorf, also
has its share of sumptuous hotels. Its strong Italian
following has earned it the name of Piccolo Milano
(Little Milan). All three link by lift into the core of
the ski area at Corviglia at 2,486m.
