nature space theme has been adopted
at the recently completed Tiller Turn
Park at Capricorn Yanchep.
Th e park, which covers 12,000sqm on
Yanchep Beach Road, was developed to retain
areas of natural bush and existing trees.
Capricorn Yanchep has installed bird boxes
in the park’s trees and landscaping has made
use of water-wise native plants
Th e park also has grassed areas, shade
shelters and park benches, as well as a footpath
linking it to homes and other parks.

Perry said the bird boxes had been installed
because the park’s trees were not preferred
bird nesting sites.
“Th e park’s existing trees were retained,
however, they do not have hollows in them,
which means the birds are unlikely to nest in
them,” Dr Perry said.
“So to provide safe habitats for the birds we
have installed the nesting boxes high in the
trees.
