About T. Hawk Studio
T. Hawk Studio is founded on the principles of unique, custom design and
quality craftsmanship. There is heavy inspiration found from mother nature
by stone selection, pattern, and incorporating natural elements such as found
objects, wood, leather, feathers, eco-friendly materials and packaging.
Each piece starts out with reclaimed or sheet metal and round wire. The
metal is then cast, hand sawn, rolled, textured, and fabricated using
traditional bench techniques.
These pieces are for the bold, who love to make a statement. Everything at T.
Hawk Studio is a true one-of-a-kind piece of wearable artwork.
Artist Statement
“Flying Frippery” is a series of work intended to express the feeling of being
free. Free from time and the expectations of what jewelry should be.
For centuries, jewelry has been something we wear to accessorize our
personal appearance. But what makes personal adornment more than a
simple accessory? Jewelry is a talisman. A totem. An expression of who we
are. A way of life. Freedom… In a world of accessories, these brooches have
the ability to transform themselves into something more.
What if, while not being worn, jewelry had a place to be, a purpose? Flying
Frippery dives into that concept. These pieces can stand on their own as
simplified bird brooches. Once coupled with a display, they can ascend from
personal adornment into visual art.

Letter From Rachel
To all my art enthusiasts,
First off, I just want to say thank you for your support thoughout the process
of putting this show together. The last year has been filled with breakthroughs,
moments of immense accomplishment as well as a little frustration
and some disappointments. With the current health crisis, Flying Frippery is a
bit up-in-the-air.
Even though things are uncertain right now, I have to stay focused on the
future and find creative ways to connect with all of you. You may not know it,
but every kind word, like or follow has helped me gain clarity and fueled
passion for each bird that came to life in this series.
Because of your support and interest in Flying Frippery, I have decided to
create a digital catalog and pre-sale. Even if you can't make it to the gallery, I
still have an opportunity to share this collection with you. Not only will you
have the ability to view the entire show from the comfort of your living room,
I am working to make all pieces available for purchase on my website before
they hit the gallery walls!
Use this catalog as a guide, if you have any questions about a specific piece,
please contact me and I will be happy to help with your inquiries. Since each
bird is a true one-of-a-kind, I will also be available for video chat if you
would like to see selected pieces in real time.
Sharing a little joy through my love of metal is the way I am chosing to move

How to Pre-Order
The entirety of Flying Frippery will go live on my website at midnight (MST),
April 17th. You will be able to browse and pre-purchase pieces through
www.thawkstudio.com until midnight, April 30th. Starting May 1st, Flying
Frippery will be available for exhibit/purchase exclusively at Scarlow's
Gallery through June 2020.
Due to the level of interest, pieces will not be reserved until payment has
been made.
Shipping
Because these are 3-D artworks they do require specialized packing and
shipping. Costs for shipping will be calculated at the time of your purchase.
No piece will be shipped, unless payment for shipping has been made.
If you choose to pick up your piece in person, make sure to choose that
option at the time of checkout. As the show closes, I will contact pick-up
orders via email with a date and time window.
*ALL pre-order pieces will have a "hold for shipping". They will NOT be
available for shipping or pick-up until the gallery show closes on June 30th,
2020.

Flying Frippery is scheduled to open 5pm Thursday, May 7th 2020 at
Scarlow's Gallery and closes on Tuesday, June 30th.
