Introduction
Poetry has always been considered an exquisite product
apparently just for high educated people. In their social
meetings, poetry is a mandatory topic in conversations to
show certain degrees of cultural background. Thus, poetry
seems to have a kind of special taste, it has to be interesting in
some way, and it must be complex because just high educated
people understand it.
Gillis (2014) thinks different. It can be enjoyed for all of us.
From the child to the elderly, from the factory worker to the
writer and from the non-specialist to the scientist with 100
PhDs. We just must notice poetry in nature, it is in front of
our eyes: in the sunbeams sneaking between the leaves of a
tree, in the dancing of a male animal to conquer his couple
or in the movements of my favorite soccer player to get
a goal.
Everybody can perceive poetry, but some have this talent to put it down
in words. It is a complex process since poetry has to do with sense and
sound. This is not just about communicating information but about
how it sounds. What for? Well, our souls love art and sensibility for
beauty.
Like literature, poetry has grace, beauty, composure, skill, befitting,
and it is pleasant. One of the representatives of this kind of art is
Haiku. This work presents some Haikus created by non-experts in
poetry in a collaborative way. It shows how accessible poetry is and that
the only think needed to consume this “exquisite” product is joy.
Haiku is a Japanese ancient way of poetry based on perceptions from
nature to express some teaching or reflection to human beings.
Along the history, it has become an all topics poetry but
preserving its syllabification of just three lines of 5/7/5
syllable and it does not have to rhyme.
