JIM LEFFLERA transplant from Parsippany, this Mount Arlington resident has lived inhis small, rustic home overlooking Lake Hopatcong for 20 years. But, hehas 50 great years of lake memories. I’ve had apassion for real estate since I was a kid and to be able to mergethat with my passion and knowledge of Lake Hopatcong createsa perfect combination. I even have a view of the lake from theoffice.WHAT’S THE CRAZIEST/MOST UNUSUAL JOB YOU’VE EVERHAD?Certainly not crazy, but perhaps unusual. I worked in the checkencoding department where we would ensure the balancing ofbanking transactions. I can better describe the position as “I usedto put the little numbers on the bottom of the checks!”WHO MAKES UP YOUR FAMILY?My awesome mom Joan, my two sisters, one niece and onenephew. Of course there, is Michael, my better half, who believesin me, boosts my confidence daily and has shown me so muchmore of what life has to offer.ANY HOBBIES?I love working in the yard and maintaining the grounds here athome. I do some various woodworking projects, but recentlybuilt a really cool potting shed/greenhouse which I’m proud of. Ialso like to collect old things, including antique toys and antiquefishing lures. Of course, I can’t leave out boating!DO YOU VOLUNTEER?I currently serve on the board of trustees for the LakeHopatcong Foundation and I’m also a part of their DevelopmentCommittee and on the committee for the annual LHF Gala.IS THERE ANYTHING MOST PEOPLE WOULD BE SURPRISEDTO LEARN ABOUT YOU?A lot of people do not know that I’m a cancer survivor. Twoyears ago, at 51, I was diagnosed with an aggressive form ofprostate cancer. Fortunately, I had an excellent surgeon and Ifollow up regularly. I cannot express enough the importance ofyearly physical exams and following through with recommendedtesting.
