If you aren't familiar with R&B singer/songwriter
Nikia, then you most certainly need to, not just as a
vocalist but a powerhouse in the indie music scene
as well as prominent businesswoman making major
moves. Nikia dropped the sonically potent musical
anthology NO FAIRYTALE in 2019, which contained
the viral hit classic singles "Sexin'," "Do U," "FFF,"
and "Truth Syrum" featuring Wo-Billz among many
other solid tracks and she is already off to a
promising start in 2020. Nikia has been singing and
writing songs for years as it comes to her naturally,
it's in her blood (she is also the niece of legendary
soul singer Charlie Wilson of The Gap Band). Nikia
also has more plans for the upcoming months by
working on new songs, releasing new videos and
touring with her band. Get more updates on Nikia at
her official website http://www.SoundsOfNikia.com
Purchase her album "No Fairytale" everywhere
music is being sold digitally (Spotify, Deezer, iTunes,

How long have you been acting:
-4 months
What made you decide to start acting?
-As a model, there are a lot of
opportunities available for us, whether
it’s to be in a music video or an extra in
a movie acting is a necessary skill to
have.
Is it a passion? If yes, explain.
- Not necessarily a passion, because I
am an introvert, and public speaking
isn’t really my thing but it’s becoming
something I enjoy doing.
What other things do you do? Sing?
Dance? Etc.? What got you into doing
that?
-I model! Modeling was something I
always wanted to do but never really
dared to go for. In 2017 I had a health
scare that it gave me a new lease on life,
and I told myself no matter how shy I
am or what other people think of me, I
was going to start doing all the things I
want to do.
In the new full-length Treasure Box,
you are playing Julie. Can you tell our
readers about your character Julie?
- Julie is an 18 year old girl who just
joined a “classy” whore house. Within
her first week, she is put into all sorts
of crazy situations from being pimped
out, shot at, and questioned by the
police about the disappearance of one
of her house sisters.

Do you feel others would understand
Julie?
- Yes, we are all have been through
situations sometimes where we have to
do whatever it takes to survive.
What other films have you acted in?
-It’s a B$tch Birthday.
As a model, what experiences can you
share with us?
-Just being a model is an experience in
itself. Last June I was a part of a street
runway fashion show with The Voice of
Fashion in Downtown Charleston when
that event was over I left with a group
of new friends, now family and my
sisters and I do everything together
from fashion shows, photo shoots or
daily motivation.
www.geecheeone.com
Who is your favorite actress, and why?
-Tiffany Haddish, she an amazing
actress with such a big and beautiful
personality. Just knowing her story and
how she was once homeless living out
of her car, she inspires me to keep going
for my goals and never give up.
What are some of the things you feel
people need to understand when it
comes to modeling and acting?
- It’s not easy. It takes time, dedication,
and consistency.
What do you feel are your best
characteristics that leave your
impression in the minds of the
audience?
- I am calm, confident, and occasionally
funny.

When it comes to your hair, I see you do
natural and processed what do you
before and why?
- As a child, I would get relaxers, but I
always had a sensitive scalp so they
would burn. The older I got I started
doing my own hair and I found out
transitioning and going natural was a
better and healthier solution for me.
Is there any major platform you would
bring awareness to? Explain cancer,
sickle cell, etc. If yes, explain why you
chose that platform.
-All cancer platforms.. there is so much
money being made in the industry, yet
year after year we’re losing more and
more people.

1. Where did you get the name 2Slik?
The name 2SLiK actually comes from 3
places...'2" Comes from the nickname
given to me by close friends because I
looked identical to a best friend of mine
who was later murdered. "SLiK" Comes
from never getting caught (haha) and
the 'i" is lowercase because "I' am an
individual. So it is actually coming from
3 separate factors.
2. Where are you from?
Was born and raised in Charleston,
West Virginia, but moved down to
Charleston, SC in 06 and been rocking it
ever since!
3. What inspired you to become a
rapper?
4. What makes your music different
from all the other upcoming artists?
I think what makes me different I can
change my styles and execution to
multiple lanes. I can do love songs, talk
about depression, and talk about
partying. The life I have lived gives me
the ability to adapt and real cover a
broad spectrum of different angles in
hip hop. I also carry a lot of energy in
my music that I think most people
appreciate because they feel my
emotion in my music.
5. When writing or freestyling, where do
you find your inspiration?
Most, if not all of my music comes from
personal experience. Hardly any of my
music "fabricates" or is "fictional," I
don't write about millions because I
have never had millions, but I have had
enough money to tear the club up and
that is what I write about. I talk about
suicidal thoughts and deep depression
because I experience that every day. My
past trials and tribulations, along with
the hardships I have faced that is what
keeps my pen moving...it’s an outlet.
6. If you had to compare yourself to any
artist, who would it be and why?
Funny enough, I actually was inspired
through poetry. I was an only child and
suffered from depression. As I got
older, I heard a track from the
Legendary Artist "2Pac," and it helped
influence me into starting to rap. I
started off battling most of my life and
then became more of a songwriting
artist.

I honestly follow very close to
DMX. That may be a surprise to many,
but I was always fascinated by how he
performed. He always brought energy,
excitement, and you knew that every
time you heard that growl or bark, he
was going to go off. DMX was also
authentic and deep. You could feel his
pain and emotion in every lyric. I think
if I had to say who I try to imitate or
compare myself to it would be DMX.
7. If you could Collab with any artist in
the industry, who would it be and why?
Right now, if I had to say one artist I
wish I could work with is Kevin Gates. I
am a huge fan of how he is constantly
www.geecheeone.com
changing directions and tweaking his
sound. I am also a big fan of artists that
show emotion and carry enthusiasm in
their music and Kevin always brings
that. Him or Tech 9...Tech 9 Is a beast
(haha)
8. Your single, “Don’t Bury Me,” broke
30k streams within a week in Nov 2019.
How did that make you feel, and what
made you write the song?
I think that has actually made me a
better artist. I think being from old
school times where you had to push a
project locally, it showed me that in
today's modern times' great music will
find its way out. I did no promotion for
The URBAN Guide to GeeChee Living

that song, not even a music video, and
that song continuously does numbers
and climbs higher and higher each
day. It does that because it is heavily
streamed overseas. I think knowing that
now has given me insight into a
direction I want to go as an artist. It
tells me to think outside the box and to
appeal to more people than just
Americans. I wrote that song to get an
Ex-girlfriend back (which almost
worked haha) but it is probably my most
heartfelt song and I think people hear
that in the song and that's why it does so
well.
9. How does it feel to be Nominated in
the SCUMA 2020 for Best Hip Hop
Artist, Best Performer, & Best Collab
“Splash” ft? Scooda Sease?
It’s a great honor to be nominated for
such great honors. I remember getting
nominated for Geechee One awards, and
tho I didn't win, it was awesome to be
nominated with other great artists. To
be nominated this year for SCUMA
2020 for the Top Awards for any artist
is a great honor. Especially this year
when I didn't really push these awards
because I wanted to honestly see if my
supporters and fans would nominate me
which I have the greatest fan base in
South Carolina #Cornersquad. But to
be nominated for the highest awards
especially with a song with another
great artist like Scooda Sease, I am truly
blessed beyond words.
10. Out of all of your songs, which one
means the most to you and why?
Don't Bury Me is one of my more
heartfelt ones and means a lot because
of the meaning, but if I had to say
truthfully, "Ima Do Me" is pretty
important to me. I wrote that song
when I was broke and living in a hotel
because I was practically homeless. I
wrote Ima Do Me after having a mental
breakdown and was in a rough spot in
my life. I wrote Ima Do Me before the
www.geecheeone.com
new year and used it as a motivation to
get my life back on track and it
worked. It signifies that Ima Do Me and
not let other BS distract me and
continue to focus on me and my goals.
11. What can we expect from you in
2020?
You can expect a new sound and a
unique voice. I have a new album, "The
Rebirth" that drops this summer. We
are planning on pushing it hard all over
the country. Having now performed in
LA, I have a new hunger and new
motivation. With my Label Corner
Squad and my Signed Label Community
Records/Interscope, I am ready to push
even harder with new videos and more
performances. I am also looking into
finding new artists and one artist to
manage under my wing. I also have
gotten Savannah GA on lockdown to do
hosting and bring artists from SC down
here. So everyone needs to be ready
because #CoRnErSqUaD is coming,
Shout out to Moncks Corner and that

your company, and where are you located?
Hey, My name is Madeline Lozada and I am
the proud owner of a relationship advice
blog called SoEntangled.com. I am based
out of New York.
2- What made you want to start your own
business? Or how did you get started?
The reason why I decided to embark on this
venture was, over the years, I became the
go-to person for advice. My friends, family,
peers, and co-workers felt I was honest,
realistic, fair and gave sound advice that
resonated with them.
4-Any upcoming plans for your business?
Very soon, I will launch a line of cards that
will bear the same name. They will be
situational cards that will address sensitive
topics of the heart.

shocked at how the pictures came out and
said you didn’t take those pictures. I
laughed and said I did, she said well if you
love taking nature shots than turn it into a
business. I loved the idea and went forward
with it.
4-Any upcoming plans for your business?
Right now, I have my portraits, Calendars
and postcards. Very soon, I will have my
own coffee table book featuring my best

For decades the comic book industry has
been dominated by white males, not only
the creators themselves, but the characters
they create have primarily been white
men. From Spiderman to Captain America
and more. Although comic book figures of
African descent have been around just as
long as their white male counterparts such
as Luke Cage, Black Panther, Storm of the X
-Men, Misty Knight, Night Thrasher of the
New Warriors, and Blade the Vampire
Hunter just to name a few, all of the
aforementioned comic book heroes were
created by white men. No matter how
skilled and imaginative seasoned writers
are, they cannot capture the true essence
and voice of a black character. In recent
history comic books, collectors and fans of
the medium have witnessed a rise of new
black writers and creators, and one of the
stars blazing the trail for black creatives in
the comic book world is emerging writer
Ryan White! Ryan White has been making
moves in the indie comic book scene for
years and recently started gaining
popularity with the release of his titles and
ongoing series Late Justice, and The
Geneva Convention. The remarkable
creativity shoots out of Ryan's mind and
onto the print, and he certainly has no
plans of slowing up now. Ryan also has
more writing projects lined up for 2020 and
he's also been added to the diverse writing
team of the sketch comedy podcast
Yesterday Night Taped, the show which
stars D'ara Gray (Ashley from the hit
Geechee One Film 7 Days 2 Christmas), and
other Geechee One Film mainstays such as
Monique Greene (Amir's Verdict, Justin,
Twerk, etc.), James Tavelle (The Ugly
Friend, Untimely Reunion) and rising stand
up comedienne Laquita Johnson (100
Bodies, It's A Bi$ch Birthday) and more!
When Ryan White isn't writing fantasy,
action-adventure comic books or comedy,
he is constantly writing thought-provoking
and moving poetry as well as song lyrics
under the pseudonym Slow Chemical. As
Slow Chemical, he released many critically
acclaimed songs and projects such as fulllength
album Midnight's Inspired and the
EP Serving All Masters. Both projects and
many more are available to stream on
Spotify.
