THE PRAYERS
Prayers may include the response:
Lord, hear us
Lord, graciously hear us.
And may the blessing…
Go in the peace of Christ.
Thanks be to God.
Prayers may conclude:
Fulfil now, O Lord, the desires and petitions of
your servants as may be best for them, granting
us in this world knowledge of your truth, and in
the world to come, the fullness of eternal life;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
The Lord’s Prayer
As our Saviour taught us, we boldly pray:
Our Father…
…for ever and ever. Amen.
The collect of the day
The collect for peace.
O God, the author of peace and lover of
concord, to know you is eternal life,
to serve you is perfect freedom:
defend us in all assaults of our enemies,
that we, surely trusting in your protection,
may not fear the power of any adversaries;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
The collect for grace.
O Lord and heavenly Father,
almighty and everlasting God,
we thank you for bringing us safely
to the beginning of this new day:
defend us by your mighty power
that we may be kept free from all sin
and safe from every danger;
and enable us in everything
to do only what is right in your eyes;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

THE CONCLUSION
Dismissal
May God the Father,
by whose glory Christ was raised from the
dead, awaken you to new life. Amen.
May Christ who walked with the disciples on
the road to Emmaus, kindle in you the fire of
his love and strengthen you to walk with him
in his risen life. Amen.
May the Holy Spirit,whom the risen Lord
breathed into his disciples, send you out to
bring his new life to the world. Amen.

HYMN
THE INTRODUCTION
It was very early in the morning on the first day of
the week and still dark, when Mary of Magdala
came to the tomb. She saw that the stone had
been moved away from the tomb. John 20:1
We have come together as the family of God in
our Father’s presence, to offer him praise and
thanksgiving, to hear and receive his word, to
bring before him the needs of the world and to
seek his grace, that, through his Son, Jesus
Christ, we may give ourselves to his service.
Prayers of Penitence
Jesus said: ‘The first commandment is: “Listen
Israel! The Lord our God is the only Lord. Love
the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your
soul, with all your mind and with all your strength.”
The second is this: “Love your neighbour as
yourself.” There is no other commandment
greater than these.’
Silence.
Let us confess our sins to the Father and seek his
pardon and peace.
Almighty and merciful God,
we have sinned against you
in thought, word and deed.
We have not loved you with all our heart;
and we have not loved others
as Christ loves us.
We are truly sorry.
In your mercy, forgive us.
Help us to amend our lives;
that we may delight in your will
and walk in your ways,
to the glory of your name. Amen.
Almighty God, who forgives all who truly repent,
have mercy on you and set you free from sin,
strengthen you in goodness and keep you in
eternal life; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
In place of the absolution, a deacon or lay
minister says
May God our Father, who by our Lord Jesus
Christ has reconciled the world to himself
and forgives the sins of all who truly repent,
pardon and deliver us from all our sins, and grant
us the grace and power of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
O Lord, open our lips,
And our mouth shall proclaim your praise.
We sing to you, O Lord, and bless your
name,
And tell of your salvation from day to day.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son,
and to the Holy Spirit;
as it was in the beginning, is now,
and shall be for ever. Amen.
Worship the Lord.
All praise to his name.
Alleluia! Christ is risen.
He is risen indeed. Alleluia!
Canticle: The Easter Anthems
May Christ, the true, the only light,
banish all darkness from our hearts and
minds.
1 Christ our Passover has been sacrificed for us:
so let us celebrate the feast,
2 Not with the old leaven of corruption and
wickedness: but with the unleavened bread of
sincerity and truth.
3 Christ once raised from the dead dies no more:
death has no more dominion over him.
4 In dying he died to sin once for all: in living he
lives to God.
5 See yourselves therefore as dead to sin: and
alive to God in Jesus Christ our Lord.
6 Christ has been raised from the dead: the first
fruits of those who sleep.
7 For as by man came death: by man has come
also the resurrection of the dead.
8 For as in Adam all die: even so in Christ shall
all be made alive.
May Christ, the true, the only light,
banish all darkness from our hearts and
minds.
THE MINISTRY OF THE WORD
Psalmody: the psalm appointed ends with
Glory to the Father, and to theSon:
andto the Holy Spirit;
as it was in the beginning, isnow:
and shall be forever. Amen.
The Old Testament reading
After the reading
Hear what the Spirit is saying
to the Church.
Thanks be to God.
Silence.
The New Testament reading
After the reading
Hear what the Spirit is saying
to the Church.
Thanks be to God.
Silence.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.
Canticle
A Song of Deliverance (Isaiah 12:2–6)
God has raised Christ Jesus from the dead, so
that we have a sure hope in him.
1 ‘Behold, God is my salvation: I will trust and will
not be afraid;
2 For the Lord is my strength and my song: and
has become my salvation.’
3 With joy you will draw water: from the wells of
salvation.
4 On that day you will say: ‘Give thanks to the
Lord, call upon his name;
5 Make known his deeds among the nations:
proclaim that his name is exalted.
6 Sing God’s praises, who has triumphed
gloriously: let this be known in all the world.
7 Shout and sing for joy, you that dwell in Zion:
for great in your midst is the Holy One of Israel.’
Glory to the Father, and to the Son:
and to the Holy Spirit;
as it was in the beginning, is now:
and shall be for ever. Amen.
God has raised Christ Jesus from the dead, so
that we have a sure hope in him.

HYMN
The Apostles’ Creed
I believe in God, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ,
God’s only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died and was buried;
he descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose again;
he ascended into heaven,
and is seated
at the right hand of the Father,
and he will come to judge
the living and the dead.
