Original Design:<br />
• Obsolete Vintage Toshiba Tosvert AC Variable<br />
Frequency Drive (VFD)<br />
• In this part of the mill, the schematics were not<br />
available as the entire cabinet design was built<br />
by Toshiba<br />
• Only had an eight-hour outage to complete with<br />
the mill only supplying one electrician to assist<br />
New Design:<br />
• ABB ACS800 VFD<br />
• Standard firmware<br />
• Direct torque control (DTC)<br />
• Provided copies of the parameters including<br />
local back-up and back-up on B&D’s server<br />
• Customer training<br />
• Local service and support<br />
• Improved performance<br />
• Completed in under eight hours
