Before the Samurai trainees are sent to their training grounds of Osu Kannon Shopping
Arcade, they will be briefed by the Emcee
NAGOYA, JAPAN
Along the course of their training, all Samurai Trainees will need to collect badges that
would signify the 7 core values of the Bushido Code: Justice, Courage, Mercy
(Benevolence), Politeness, Honesty, Honour & Loyalty. (These will be at the F&B Stations.)
In any training, there will be enemies to defeat and in this training, the Samurai Trainees
will need to overcome these challenges (Photo & Quizzes) or known as Ninjas for this
challenge.
Groups: 12 Teams of 10 Pax (Subject so slight change)
Stations: 6 Food Stations,
1 Drink Station and,
8 Photo Quizzes
Duration: 90 minutes

KARAAGE
A Test of Courage
Background:
A terminal illness is spreading rapidly and doctors have
narrowed down the cure to be in the Osu Shopping Arcade of
Nagoya!
Challenge:
Your team needs to test the cure to see if it is suitable. The
cure has a distinct Miso Taste to it. After tasting both potential
cures, indicate which you think is the cure!
2 Cups of Kaarage per Team (6-7pcs per Cup)

A Fight for Justice
Background:
2 men are debating over a bag of Taiyaki, each arguing that
they it belongs to them. 1 claims his is red bean and another
claims custard!
Challenge:
Your team has to decide who is the one lying and bring justice
to the one who got maligned?

TEBASAKI
Honour a Local Tradition
Background:
Arguably Nagoya’s most iconic Dish - Honour the local’s
tradition of eating Tebasaki with the following steps.
Challenge:
Have at least 3 persons from your team successfully eat a
Tebasaki in Nagoya’s tradition!
1 Chicken Wing per Person

KUSHIKATSU
Show your Politeness!
Background:
Based on Japanese Traditions, the most senior should always
start the meal.
Challenge:
Arrange yourselves based on duration of service in the
organisation and serve a Kushikatsu to your colleague next in
line; with the younger serving the elder. The Eldest can in turn
serve the Youngest.

INTERNATIONAL BEER
A Display of Benevolence
Background:
Benevolence is define as the quality of well meaning and
kindness.
Challenge:
Show your Benevolence to your team mate by asking what
drink they would like, and getting it for them!
Upon completion, each of you will earn a drink too!

Honesty to One’s Self
Challenge:
Eat as many mochis are you can within 30 seconds! You may
nominate 3 members from you team to attempt this challenge!
Upon completion, you can submit your highest score here!
Don’t worry, there will not be anyone to judge your score,
because after-all a True Samurai is one that is able to be
honest with not only everyone he knows, but most importantly
to himself.

Ice Cream
A Showcase of Loyalty
Background: A true Samurai shows their loyalty thru extreme
seasons of their journey. This ice cream represents the that
with both it’s Hot and Cold textures.
Challenge:
Each member has to recite the organisations VALUES to show
that they are loyal and willing to go through the extreme
seasons for their organisation by earning an ice cream once
they have recited by statements!
1 Ice Cream per Person

+10 if all Team Members recites the values correctly!

Fortune Cat Statue
Introduction: The Maneki Neko, also known as
the Fortune Cat is a lucky cat charm that is very
popular in Japanese and Chinese Cultures. It is a
talisman believed to attract good luck and
fortune for its owners.
Challenge 1: Search for the Maneki Neko, and
find out what he is doing.

Main Street Signage
Introduction: The Osu shopping district is huge
and popular shopping area with a total of 9
shopping arcades. There is a total of more than
400 shops ranging from electrical appliances to
second-hand clothing stores, and restaurants and
cafes. The mall is always crowded with people
and filled with energy.
Challenge: Your challenge is a simple one here!
Take a team jump-shot photo with the huge main
street signage to showcase the energy and
vibrancy of the Osu shopping district!

Osu Park
Introduction: Welcome to Osu Park! Locals say
this is the heart of the Osu Shopping Arcade, an
area where one can find a little quietness and
serenity from the rest of the district’s hustle and
bustle.
Challenge: The Park is home to some local
aquatic residents. Spot them and find how many
of them there are!
+10 points for successful completion!

NINJA CHALLENGES:
Random Obstacle Challenges Teams have to
Overcome to continue their Samurai Journey!
Japanese Doll Statue
Introduction: There is no other country that love
dolls as much as Japan since ancient time. People
own a doll not just because they are adorable,
but also believe that it will protect them from
disaster. As a result, many people feel guilty to
dispose a doll when it is no longer in needed.
Hence, on behalf of the people, we will hold a
memorial service and pray for the souls of the
dolls at this Osu-Kannon Temple once a year.
Challenge: Help the Japanese show their love
and adoration to this dolls by uploading a photo
with as many heart shapes you and your team can
form! (Hint: Be as innovative as you can!)
