2021SHINING LIGHT AWARD<br />
INSPIRING ALUMNI<br />
<strong>The</strong> Shining Light Award will recognise alumni who have contributed<br />
significantly through their chosen field to Damascus College and<br />
our global community, and who will be an inspiration to current and<br />
future students.<br />
Damascus College and its foundation colleges, Sacred Heart,<br />
St Paul’s and St Martin’s in the Pines, value the contributions and<br />
achievements of all its alumni.<br />
<strong>The</strong> Shining Light Award for Inspiring Alumni was launhed, to<br />
be bestowed upon two alumni biennially, to recognise alumni<br />
who have contributed significantly, through their chosen field, to<br />
Damascus College and our global community, and who will be an<br />
inspiration to current and future students.<br />
Nominations are now open and will close Wednesday 31 March<br />
2021, at 4pm.<br />
Anyone can submit a nominee for <strong>The</strong> Shining Light Award, based<br />
on the following criteria:<br />
1. <strong>The</strong> recipients must be Damascus College Alumni, living or<br />
dead. (Please note that alumni at Damascus College are<br />
defined as past students and staff of Damascus College<br />
and its foundation colleges, Sacred Heart, St Paul’s and St<br />
Martin’s in the Pines).<br />
2. <strong>The</strong> recipients must be successful in their chosen fields, as<br />
demonstrated by positions held, achievements, qualifications,<br />
awards/prizes/scholarships and length of service.<br />
3. <strong>The</strong> work/actions of the recipients’ chosen fields support and<br />
uphold social justice and Christian values.<br />
4. <strong>The</strong> alumni have made contributions or supported the<br />
College and global community in ways that are inspirational<br />
or motivational.<br />
5. Categories for selection are:<br />
• Service to the global community<br />
• Science/Technology<br />
• Arts<br />
• Sport<br />
• Business<br />
• Academia<br />
• Faith Development<br />
Anyone can submit a nomination for the award.<br />
Nominations must be submitted on the nomination form located on<br />
the Damascus College website, under Past Students, and include<br />
supporting documentation and relevant evidence. <strong>The</strong> nomination<br />
form may be completed online and submitted electronically or<br />
printed and mailed in.<br />
