BLOODSHOT: Issue 2

Waking up inside a body bag is no way to start the day.

But that’s where you are, and worse yet, you’re 35,000 feet above the desert, guarded by the some of the toughest soldiers on the planet. You’re being flown back to the people who created you, who may have even betrayed you. You’re having a hard time separating your false memories (of family, duty, country) from the grim reality (of bullets, blood, screaming). Who’s really on your side? Why were you created? Where does the “real you” end and the programming begin? There’s only one way to find out – by reaching up and zipping open this bag. And God have mercy on anyone who comes face-to-face with the weapon – no, the man – no, the soldier – known only as Bloodshot.

Project Rising Spirit has sent its walking weapon of mass destruction, an operative known as Bloodshot, into Afghanistan to
eliminate a young super-powered girl that is working with a known terrorist cell. However, Project Rising Spirit purposefully
withholds that information, instead allowing him to believe that he is going to save an old war buddy named Apanewicz.
Due to radically advanced nanites in his bloodstream, Bloodshot possesses higher levels of strength and speed than a normal
human, can heal from virtually any wound, communicate with computer machinery and morph for limited periods of time. Those
abilities enabled Bloodshot to make short work of the terrorist cell, but he quickly discovers that it was all a setup. A former
PRS scientist named Kuretich manufactured the scenario in order to capture Bloodshot and download the details of his past
missions from his brain.
In the process, Kuretich reveals to Bloodshot that Apanewicz isn’t real. That PRS has implanted false memories of lives, families
and friends into Bloodshot’s head, and it uses these memories to motivate him. PRS knows that Bloodshot will kill anything
it points him at if it means protecting the ones he loves.
Kuretich makes his escape, and before Bloodshot can begin to wrap his mind around this traumatic revelation, he is blown
apart by PRS operatives sent in to collect him. What PRS doesn’t realize, is that the world’s most dangerous military operative
now knows the truth…and is no longer under its command…
August is going to be an action-packed month for Valiant Comics. First, Archer & Armstrong #1
hits the stands, and Fred Van Lente and Clayton Henry introduce the Valiant Universe to the only
heroes in comics with enough grit to take on the 1%. But when this mismatched duo comes
face-to-face with the mysterious Wall Street cult led by the enigmatic “Brother Gavin,” they
discover a deeper, international conspiracy that can save the Euro, but might just end the world.
Good thing Armstrong’s decided to short the market this month! You won’t want to miss this
premiere issue featuring an amazing cover by industry icon Neal Adams!
ARCHER & ARMSTRONG #1 BLOODSHOT #2
Then, in Bloodshot #2, Duane Swierczynski and Manuel Garcia put together 22 pages of intense
action wrapped in a wonderful story in the finest Valiant tradition. Duane and Manuel are using
kerosene-soaked dynamite to blow up the darkest corners of the Valiant Universe. And Bloodshot
-- a walking Wikileaks with two .45s -- is hellbent on discovering who he is, and he’ll cut
through half the Universe to get the answers he seeks.
Plus, Joshua Dysart, Khari Evans, and Lewis LaRosa bring us Harbinger #3. Pete Stanchek’s
journey into Toyo Harada’s Harbinger Program takes a new turn. Peter’s in uniform, but will his
decision to leave his friends behind for a new life cost him everything? The first day of school is
always the toughest...
And the fan-favorite team of Robert Venditti and Cary Nord bring X-O Manowar to the streets
-- and skies -- of Rome in the pulse-pounding culmination to their critically acclaimed first
arc. When Aric of Dacia returns to Earth in X-O Manowar #4, he discovers that 1600 years have
passed and everyone he’s ever known or loved is long gone. He’s filled with a violent rage...and
then the fighter jets show up to take him out.
The Summer of Valiant is in full swing, and no one’s got more action in store than us!
