a freshman at the<br />

Kentucky, majoring<br />

in Animal Science.<br />

Katherine grew up<br />

on her family's<br />

diversified farm<br />

which includes<br />

<strong>Suffolk</strong> sheep, cattle<br />

and crops.<strong>Suffolk</strong><br />

sheep have been in<br />

her family since<br />

1948 - Katherine continues to keep up that<br />

family tradition and has exhibited sheep at the<br />

county, state, and national levels. She currently<br />

attends the University of Kentucky and<br />

majors in Animal Science with the future goal of<br />

attending vet school for large animal medicine.<br />

Katherine is an active member of Block and<br />

Bridle and serves as the Treasurer for the UK<br />

College of Agriculture Student Council.<br />

Additionally, she is a student employee for the<br />

University of Kentucky C. Oran Little Sheep<br />

Research Unit. Katherine is currently serving<br />

as an intern director for the United Junior<br />

<strong>Suffolk</strong> Sheep Association Board of Directors.<br />

Wisconsin-Platteville, majoring in Animal<br />

Science with an emphasis in Agribusiness.<br />

<strong>Suffolk</strong>s have been apart of Andrew's life ever<br />

since he can remember and has attended<br />

every National Junior <strong>Suffolk</strong> Show since 2010.<br />

Andrew has been on the United Junior <strong>Suffolk</strong><br />

Sheep Association Board of Directors for 7<br />

years and has held the offices of President and<br />

Vice-President. Upon graduation Andrew's<br />

career goals include getting into Genetics and<br />

is hopefully with sheep if that path comes<br />

along.<br />

United <strong>Suffolk</strong><br />

Sheep Association<br />

Scholarship<br />

The United <strong>Suffolk</strong> Sheep Association is<br />

offering one $1,000 Scholarships for graduating<br />

high school seniors or students enrolled at<br />

a college, university, or trade school. Any<br />

United Junior <strong>Suffolk</strong> Sheep Association member<br />

who owns registered <strong>Suffolk</strong> sheep and<br />

whom is either a senior in high school or currently<br />

enrolled in a college, university, or trade<br />

school is eligible. We encourage all eligible<br />

young breeders to join the competition. Funds<br />

will be paid directly to the winner’s college,<br />

university, or trade school and may be used for<br />

academic pursuits only. To qualify an entrant<br />

must:<br />

1. Complete an application form, either<br />

word processed or typed, but not handwritten,<br />

which is available from the USSA Office or<br />

USSA website.<br />

2. Submit two letters of recommendation<br />

from teachers/professors, counselors or community<br />

leaders.<br />

3. Provide a current transcript of scholastic<br />

credits.<br />

Finalists will be selected from the applications<br />

received. Finalists will have a phone interview<br />

with the Scholarship Committee the end of<br />

June. The scholarship winners will be announced<br />

during the National Junior <strong>Suffolk</strong> Show at<br />

the All-American Junior Show.<br />

Prior recipients are eligible to apply, but<br />

preference will be given to those that have not<br />

previously received the scholarship.<br />

Applications must be received by the office<br />

no later than June 1. Winners will be selected<br />

entirely based on merit.<br />
