THE
MAGAZINE
Welcome!
Welcome to The Local Magazine, the
brand new free bi-monthly community
publication in your area. After many
months of meetings and long lunches,
myself, James Ramsden and my
business partner Jason Hart have finally
brought our brand new magazine to life.
The Local contains a broad range of
information tied in with an overall
‘money saving’ theme, all aimed at
your local area. With its modern, fresh
and funky styling, the magazine offers
a light and enjoyable read, perfect for
the average coffee break.
Inside you’ll find articles (some
written by us and some from local
advertisers), news of upcoming events,
competitions and, most importantly,
offers and deals from the local area.
In our first month we’ve kept the
magazine small and focussed. But
with each subsequent issue we
hope to include more and more local
information, articles and money saving
vouchers as we discover them.
Here’s what we have in the June issue:
We have a double page spread from
the brand new builders merchant on
the block, Eastern Aggregates and on
page 11 you’ll find a local success
story from Martham FC who have
just been promoted to division 2. Well
done guys! We also have our regular
car maintenance column ‘Fuelled’ from
Repps Garage and some other quick
Welcome to The Local
reads that we hope you will enjoy. And
if all of that isn’t enough, we are giving
away a FREE MOT Test courtesy of
Repps Garage. Read on to find out
how to enter.
The Local Magazine has been working
with local businesses to gather a range
of special offers to help our readers
get some of the best deals available.
As and when these offers come up,
we will be posting them on Twitter
and Facebook for our followers to
take advantage of. So if you have any
information including local news,
upcoming events, special offers or
deals, please get in touch! We would
also be very interested to hear any
feedback you may have about our new
magazine. You can contact us through
THE
MAGAZINE
By Jason Hart - Repps Garage
E-mail: jason.hart@reppsgarage.co.uk
Welcome to my column in The Local
Magazine. I will be writing motor
related articles each publication
aiming to provide useful information,
helpful hints and tips on vehicle
maintenance.
In this issue I want to talk about
Air Conditioning systems and why
it is important to have your system
regularly checked and re-gassed.
Why do Air Conditioning
systems need to be serviced?
A cars air conditioning system can
lose up to 15% of coolant every
year naturally through hoses and
connections. Meaning a 3 year old car
may have lost almost half its coolant,
greatly reducing the cold air output.
Having an air conditioning system
serviced regularly not only restores the
lost coolant but also helps to reduce
wear and tear on components by
injecting fresh lubricating oil into its
system. This helps to avoid potentially
big repair bills if a component fails.
Ideally, you should run your air
conditioning at least once a week,
especially in the winter. This helps
to keep the seals in the system from
seizing up or drying out through
non-use.
What are the benefits of air
conditioning?
Cool air is not the only benefit, others
include:
• Warm dehumidified air in winter
easily demists steamed up windows
• Filters pollutants / airborne particles
including pollen
• Pleasant and odour free vehicle
atmosphere at all times
How often should they
be serviced?
It is recommended to have your
system inspected and the gas fully
changed every 2 years.
What’s involved with a
service?
Most air conditioning services should
include the following features:
• Recharging of gas to recommended
levels, adding fresh system oil
• Full visual inspection, temperature
and leak checks
• Recovery of refrigerant, evacuation
of air and moisture from system
Always check what is included in an
air conditioning service and be aware
that only F-Gas approved/trained
Vehicle Technicians can work on a
vehicle air conditioning system.

Safer Neighbourhood Teams
Page 6
By Norfolk Constabulary
Safer Neighbourhood Teams deliver a
truly local policing style– local police
working with local people to identify
and deal with issues of concern in
their neighbourhood.
Today we’d like to introduce the Rural
Flegg Villages Safer Neighbourhood
Team which covers, Fleggburgh,
Ashby with Oby, Thurne, Rollesby,
Billockby, Clippesby, Ormesby St
Michael, Filby, Stokesby, Thrigby,
Mautby, Runham, Martham, Repps
with Bastwick, West & East Somerton.
Meet the Team
Your local Safer Neighbourhood Team
includes:
PC 878 – Dick Cook
PCSO 8471- Paul Edwards
PCSO 8267 – Jude Ward
PCSO 8279 – Pete Williamson
What are the current
priorities for the Team?
The current priorities agreed with our
local community are:
1.The theft of metal from rural
churches and scrap metal from houses
2.Speeding on Hemsby Road in
Martham and Repps Road in Martham
3.Marine thefts around rural boatyards
THE
How can I help?
We would like to encourage residents
of the parishes covered by the Rural
Flegg Villages to help shape their
neighbourhood policing priorities
through the Safer Neighbourhood
Action Panel (SNAP) meetings.
These meetings are open to all
residents to discuss any issues they
may have, face to face, with their local
policing team and partner agencies.
The next Rural Flegg Villages SNAP
meeting will be held on Wednesday
1st August at Martham Sports and
Social Club, Playing Field Lane, from
7.00pm.
How can I contact my local
THE
MAGAZINE
Martham First Team are the new
league champions of Anglian
Combination Division 3, winning
promotion to Division 2 for the first
time in the clubs history! No other
Martham team has ever reached this
level and it is a very proud moment for
all the players and officials involved
with Martham FC.
Promotion was achieved when
Martham FC beat U.E.A. on April
14th 2012 and the league title was
confirmed a week later on the 21st
April 2012 when Cromer Reserves, the
only team who could catch Martham,
lost to Loddon Reserves at home.
Martham FC have already beaten three
Division 2 teams in cup competitions
over the past two seasons, so they
should settle in well to the new league
when the season restarts in August.
