EQ: How can
digital
awareness and
practices
significantly
affect
individuals in
the real world?
Students will understand...
That unintended personal information can be shared
and discerned via their digital footprint
There are strategies that can minimize the unintended
exposure of personal information
That there are important disclosures embedded
within terms of use and terms of service contracts
That they are empowered to critically evaluate their
digital choices and consequences
And they are capable of responsibly and ethically
sharing best practices with their less-informed peers.

Don't be like
Beck...
Joe's watching!
To capture interest, this lesson uses a two-minute video
that illustrates an unsavory character capturing detailed
information from the profile of an unwitting victim.
Students will be encouraged to identify risky choices and
associated consequences and draw parallels to their own
personal decision making.

What you don't
know CAN hurt
you.
Utilizing InsertLearning in groups, students will be
encouraged to select one of three terms of use
documents to explore and respond to. Students will
record observations on a Padlet, and share out during a
whole-class discussion. Students will also utilize their
IQRS Log throughout this stage.
Using a planning checklist and a rubric, students will
begin to design a PSA for an audience of their peers that
illustrates synthesis of their newly-acquired information.
This product will serve as their summative assessment.
