Bonded Duo Seeks

Employment as Lap

Warmers/Treat Tasters.

Fully Qualified!

We are Juice and

Aspen, two 6-month-old

kittens who are ready to

become your purr-sonal

lifetime assistants! Our

dress code is definitely

Juice (girl)

business casual and

we certainly don’t mind

napping on the job.

Don’t worry if you enjoy

scrolling your social

media feed at work;

we’ll be busy teaming

up for some lighthearted

mischief ourselves. We

do take treat-tasting

very seriously - just

Aspen (boy)

shake a pouch and we’ll

come running. Quality of treats will be indicated

with loud purring. After work, we’ll unwind in front of

the TV with kitty kisses, finger licks and snuggling.

We are spayed/neutered, vaccinated and litterboxtrained.

We each have one eye that is not quite

perfect due to illnesses we had as babies, but we’ve

made good recoveries and are ready for adoption.

We want to continue to be each other’s BFF,

and yours! Interested parties can contact our

Adopt-An-ANGEL foster mom at 910-508-5518.

Many thanks to Michael Cline Photography

for helping us find our ultimate dream job!

MEET MAJOR

Hello, my name is Major and I am a neutered 4 to 5-year-old dude. I’ve not had a very good life so

far. I could spend a lot of time telling you how humans failed me over and over and over... and over.

Instead, I’ll tell you about the ones who’ve shown me all the positive and admirable qualities humans

can posses. There were some really nice people who sent messages everywhere to get me help.

Just before I was to be euthanized, my friends at Freedom Bridge Animal Rescue saved me. For

the past 3-months, I have been working with a trainer and learning to be my best self. I’ve been

making my trainer really proud and he calls me Buddy. I am looking forward to finding my furever

home. I need someone who is experienced and committed to keeping up with my studies so that I

can continue to grow and perfect my obedience training. Get this - if my new parents need any

advice, they can call my trainer anytime (and won’t even have to pay for it)! I have my paws crossed

that someone will give me a chance just like the kind people I’ve met so far. If you would like to meet

me, email freedombridgeanimalrescuenc@gmail.com or call 843-614-0231 and let’s set up a time.

WAGON TAILS FARM

Hi, my name is Maddox. I am a

beautiful boy who is looking for a

furever home where I can have a

job or an active yet patient human

to give me the time and training I

need. I can run for hours and then

happily snuggle next to you on the

couch when you're done. I’m a

1½ to 2-year-old ‘good ole country

boy’ who is believed to be a mix of

Cattle dog, Collie, and maybe a

little something else? I am up to

date on my vaccinations and flea/

heartworm preventatives. I’m

already neutered and weigh just

shy of 60 pounds. I would do best in a home with a sister

or as an only pup and no cats, please. For more info, email

WagonTailsFarm@gmail.com or call 252-414-9219.

Search WagonTailsFarm on Facebook and like our page.

COLUMBUS HUMANE SOCIETY

My greatest wish is that you’ll

fall in love with me! My

name is Franny and I’m an

adult Beagle and Hound mix.

At approximately 50 pounds

and 6-years of age, I’m

already spayed, vaccinated,

house-trained, leash-trained

and heartworm negative. I

would love to have a home to

call my own and I play well

with mild-mannered dogs

(big or small). If you are allergic to cats, that's fantastic

because my ideal home wouldn’t have any of those. I love

playing with toys and going on walks. To adopt a real

sweetheart, email to jhinson6@ec.rr.com or call

910-499-1194 and leave me a message. I’ll have a

human get back to you and set up a meet and greet.

Visit us online at www.ColumbusHumaneSociety.org.

PENDER ENDANGERED ANIMAL RESCUE

(P.E.A.R.)

I’m a sweet Shepherd mix

named Hank and all my

friends at PEAR say I’m just a

total lover. I love to be with

people - playing, snuggling

and enjoying all that life has

to offer! I’m a young boy,

already neutered and

vaccinated, and I get along

great with other dogs and

children, too. If you’d like to

meet me, call 910-512-8522 or

you may send an email to

dogadoption1@gmail.com. We can arrange a get-together!

RESCUECONNECT

I am Miguel and I’m 1-year-old.

They tell me that I’m a Mexican

Hairless and Dachshund mix. My

look is all natural. Even the

Mohawk! I enjoy a variety of

things: cuddling with my foster

mom to doing zoomies for 20

minutes straight. I love playing

with other dogs and my favorite

game is ‘catch me if you can’! I

can still be shy in new situations

but quickly settle in once I feel

safe. I am looking for a home with a fenced yard and a dog

buddy. I am up to date on all vaccines, neutered and

microchipped. I am all ready for my new home! If you want

to meet me, please call my foster mom at 910-508-6818.

You may also apply at www.rescueconnectnc.com or email

rescueconnectnc@gmail.com for more information.

My name is Daisy Mae

and I'm a 9-year-old

Beagle mix with the softest

coat! I am about 20

pounds, I’m laid-back and I

love to snuggle! I am blind

due to glaucoma which

has been treated with a

medication to keep the

pressure down in my eyes

permanently. I quickly

learn my surroundings and

use my nose to get me

around easily. I love

sniffing in the yard and sleeping on my bed. I am housetrained,

crate-trained and love all people and animals! My

foster mom says I'm quiet as a mouse and so easy! Would

you please consider making my 2020 special by providing

me a forever home? To meet me, call 910-302-7290 or

910-352-5150 or email rescueconnectnc@gmail.com.

Hi, I'm Raymond

and I'm a laid-back

Beagle mix who is

about 8-years-old

and 32 pounds. I

LOVE the company

of other dogs! I

have been treated

for heartworms and

I’m doing GREAT! I

have learned how to

use a doggie door and what it is like to be an inside dog.

My current foster home includes an elementary-aged kid

and other dogs and I am friendly with them all. I am looking

for a forever family with at least one other dog - as I rely on

a canine for companionship and trust when in a new

environment. For more info or to meet me, please email

rescueconnectnc@gmail.com or call 910-302-7290.

more. I'd love an

owner with gecko experience. You can see me and all of

and Tabby markings. I’m just

1-year-old and came in to

rescue with my four babies.

I’ve been a good mom and

now I’m ready for a home of

my own. I would do well as

an only cat in a quiet home. I

like to sit in the window and

watch the birds. I’ve been

spayed, tested negative for

Feline Leukemia and FIV, had

my distemper and rabies

vaccines and been microchipped. If you would like to

meet me, call 910 200-0612 or email otopcatnc@aol.com.

from playing and having lots

of fun, though! I am very

loving and friendly and I’m

ready to make your family

complete! Please call

ONSLOW COUNTY ANIMAL SERVICES

I’m Todd (44147341), a 7-year-old

Hound. I very much like leisurely

walks at the park and I am a loving,

joyful companion. I am very silly

and sweet and as happy as can be.

My favorite things are my squeaky

chicken and puppy ice cream treats

(my foster mom is great!). In foster

care, I’ve had no accidents in the

house, do well in a crate, enjoy bath

time, have been enjoying my foster

fur-siblings and am an all-around

good boy. I am very treat motivated

and very eager to learn. I have also

tested positive for heartworms and

will need a very special family

willing to commit to my treatment and vet costs to help me

get a happy, healthy heart. To meet me, please call

who is 7-years-old,

spayed and housetrained!

I have been

My active lifestyle

would be great for

someone who likes

I am sponsored in loving memory of Grace Harrington.

Hey! It’s me…

Wilson Pickett, the

handsome 7-year-old

fella who was named

after the famous

singer, and we both

have something in

common with his

song, “Let me be your

boy”. I’m playful,

loving, sweet and I

feel great! One of

my favorite toys is a

stuffed animal! Since

being at Paws Place,

I’ve had a personality

makeover - going

from being scared

and leery to being

‘Mr. Congeniality’. I’m finished with all my heartworm

treatments and am ready to enjoy life and some music with

my new family. Wouldn’t you like to make an appointment

to come check me out? Simply call Paws Place at

to get out of here!

◄Hi there, my name is

Darla and I’m one of

the young adult cats

(1½-years-old) who often

gets overlooked during

mostly white Calico with

the softest fur there ever

attention and naptime-lap

time. I’m also spayed,

Please consider

nobody picked me.

We got along great

but I also like other

cats, too. I’m very

My name is Stumpy

and I deserve a lap to

sit on. Will you give me

a home? My owner

took me to the animal

hospital to have me put

down because I’m old.

The vet helped get me

into Cape Fear Rescue

League so I’m safe in

a foster home now.

I’m an 11-year-old

Chihuahua mix who

is already neutered, up

to date on vaccines,

heartworm negative,

and I weigh about 18

pounds. I have to be

on liver medication

everyday, I’m highly

allergic to chicken and I’m currently on a food that is a

salmon and sweet potato. I would rather be the only dog,

however I’m more comfortable with small dogs than bigger

ones. I do NOT like cats but I’ve been great with both men

and women and older kids. Will you make my dream come

true and let me enjoy my last several years in your loving

home? Just because I’m a senior boy does not mean that

I’m any less deserving of love. For more information or to

meet and adopt me, please email Cape Fear Rescue

►Hello! I'm Chico and I’m a

6-year-old fawn Chihuahua who

weighs 10 pounds. I'm a shy

little guy until I get to know you

and my environment. It takes

me a little while to warm up to

new people, but I'm making

progress in this area. I overheard

my foster mom say that I

am a great little guy! I am

already crate-trained and leashtrained.

I enjoy playing with

other small dogs, but I am not a

fan of big dogs. Please call

today and let's meet up! ♥

►Greetings! My name is

Nino and I am 2-years-old.

I am a stunning tricolor

Chihuahua and weigh

13 pounds. I can be a little

timid until I get to know you,

but once we are friends - my

personality really shines. If

you love the great outdoors,

then I am the dog for you! I

love to play and go for walks.

I am a professional at

walking on my leash, and I

am making great progress on

my crate-training and house

manners. I get along well

with other dogs and I would

love more than anything to

be a part of your family! ♥

◄Hola! My name is Cita,

short for Mommacita! I am

10-years-old and weigh 14

pounds. I am a loveable,

cuddly lady who loves to

snuggle, lay in your lap, and

sit beside you on the couch.

And, I love tummy rubs! My

foster siblings and I get along

very well, I love to go for

walks and I enjoy sunbathing

belly up! I have excellent

house manners and am ready

to find my furever home.

Perhaps it is with you? ♥

►Well, hello there! I'm

Melle, an adorable black

and white Rat Terrier. I am

9-years-old and weigh

8 pounds. My foster mom

describes me as a pretty

cool little dog! I am

house-trained, will sit on

command, and am an

excellent watch dog. My

favorite hobbies are eating,

playing, and hunting bugs!

I am very attentive to my

family and get along with

other dogs of all sizes, as

long as they know that I

rule the roost! Cats are

another story; I'm not too fond of them. I can't wait to find a

home of my own. Pick me, pick me! ♥

◄I'm Momo! I am

10-years young and

weigh 9 pounds. As

you can see, I have a

heart around my face,

because I am such a

sweet loving guy! My

favorite hobbies are

playing outside and

cuddling. I am very

attentive to my foster

family and love to

be around them. I

don't like sharing the

◄Hello friends, my

name is Lexy and I

am 8-years-old. I am

a beautiful fawn and

white Chihuahua

mix who weighs

8 pounds. I am an

easy-going gal and

get along with other

dogs, cats, and

children. I love to

snuggle, and then run

around and play! The

doggy doctor told me

that I have severe allergies, so I take medicine twice a day

and need to eat special food. As long as I do that, I feel just

fine. I can't wait to find my furever home! ♥

I am a beautiful, brilliant,

sweet and cuddly girl who is

searching for my perfect

home. My name is Josie

and I’m spayed, vaccinated,

heartworm negative, housetrained

and crate-trained. I

know basic commands and

love to learn and train. I

have come a long way on

loose leash walking but still

need work on that. I’m a

2-year-old Labrador mix who

is about 58 pounds and

loves people, children and

cuddling up to give and get

lots of love. I am capable

and fond of jumping my

foster home’s 6-foot fence which is not a safe situation for

me. I am known as an opportunistic runner and therefore

cannot continue in my service dog training. My perfect

home would be someone with experience with a young,

energetic Lab, and a desire to continue my training (which

is one of my favorite things to do)! I need a safe place to

run my energy off and be a dog (an unescapable fence or

wide-open land with no proximity to roads). I think I would

excel at Frisbee or agility, as I am so smart and love being

busy. I get along with other dogs but would probably be

better in a home without cats. Call 910-506-3647 or email

info@k94paws.org for more info. An adoption application

can be found at www.k94pawsnc.org/adoptionapplication.

I am sponsored in loving memory of Levi D.

Forever number 1.

My name is Rune and

I am about 1-year-old.

I’m neutered, current on

vaccinations, heartworm

negative and microchipped.

I’m a rambunctious,

happy-go-lucky

pup! I love to go on

adventures! Currently,

I’m in foster care with

other dogs and cats. I

can be a little rude when

asking to play (by poking

and poking), so having a

dog who is okay with my

style of play is a must.

I’m currently working on

food issues around other

animals, so having a new

family that understands management is also a must. I

came into rescue from a neglect/ abuse situation. I was

found in a ditch at 4-months of age and unable to walk.

Both of my back legs had trauma to them, resulting in a

special surgery/placement of metal. After months of rehab,

I can now run and play! However, I will need my new

family to keep an eye on my growth and development. My

vet team thinks I’m going to be just fine (which makes my

foster family very happy). For more information, please

email Jaded Paws Rescue at Sarah.jprescue@gmail.com

or call 910-389-2372. You may also visit us online at

mix boy who is

known around here

as a very “gentle

giant.” I love to

give kisses, I walk

great on a leash, I

know "sit", l love

me some treats

and I’m housetrained!

To put it

simply, I’m a very

sweet dog who will

steal your heart! I

am also up to date

on my shots and neutered. Give my friends a call! ♥

◄I’m Cowboy, a

2-year-old Hound mix.

I’m a BIG bundle of

more than to give you

hugs and kisses. I

have beautiful brown

eyes that I use to win

your heart (and your

treats!) I love walks,

and did I mention

HUGS? Seriously, I

love hugging. I’m a

◄How did an

awesome companion

like me end up back

at the shelter?

Unfortunately, a

family member

became allergic to

cats, so now I’m

waiting for a new

family to discover

what a loveable gem

I am. My name is

Chloe and I’m an

affectionate, friendly

girl who is very happy

to see folks when they

enter the room. I’ll

always welcome soft

rubs on my head and

back, and I LOVE

being scratched under my chin. I’m in great health and am

spayed, vaccinated and litterbox-trained. If you already

have another cat at home, you’re in luck because

I get along just fine with other kitties! ♥

►I’m a very good girl

named Zara and

I sure would like to

meet you! I may be a

bit shy at first, but

give me a treat and

some soft pets and I

warm up quickly! At

just 3-years of age,

I’m a white Pit mix

who is house-trained

and easy to walk on a

leash. I get along

well with other dogs

and am vaccinated,

spayed and microchipped.

I’m a perfect

family companion,

don't’ you think? ♥

▲I’m Camille, a 1½-year-old pastel Tortie who is as

pretty as a fine work of art with my stunning coat and

green eyes! I’m a very sweet girl who welcomes

attention from humans as well as back rubs! I’m also

vaccinated, litterbox-trained and I’d love a quiet home to

call my own. Please stop by and meet me! ♥

►(A408987) I am a 2 to 3-year-old

Pit Bull boy who weighs about 45

pounds. I need a home with no other

animals where I can be the center of

your world. I absolutely love to play ball.

I can be strong-willed and independent,

but at the end of the day I would love to

just curl up at your feet. I am very ball

and treat motivated, which makes me a

good learner! I have been at the shelter

since March 10, 2020. I came in as a

stray and no one came looking for me. The shelter staff thinks I

am a really sweet dude and they can’t wait for me to find the

forever home I deserve. I am neutered, microchipped, up to date

on vaccinations, and been given flea prevention. All I need now

is a loving forever home. Could you be the one? ♥

◄(A410452) I am an 11-month-old,

Pit Bull and Red Doberman boy who

weighs around 45 pounds. I was

found as a stray and my owner did

not come searching for me. I am a

very sweet boy and I just want to

make you happy. I know how to sit,

give paw, and sometimes lay down. I

LOVE to walk outdoors! Shelter staff

will take me on walks around the

pond and I find it very therapeutic! I

like other dogs but I am learning on

how to properly approach them and

have manners with them. I was just

recently neutered so hopefully that will help! Since I am a young

fella, I have a lot of training that I’d still like to do! I will be a

quick learner if you have the right skills for a boy like me! If you

are looking for a good walking or running partner, I may just

be the one! I am neutered, microchipped, up to date on

vaccinations, and given flea prevention! All I need is a

home to call mine forever, could that be yours? ♥

►(A410610) I am a 3-month-old

male German Shepherd and

Rottweiler mix and I already

weigh 27 pounds! I was found

as a stray and no one ever came

to look for me. I am going to be

a very large dog. I will need a

home that has knowledge of my

breed and is ready to properly

train a fella like me. I will be a

15 to 20-year-commitment and I

know I am super cute now, but

will you still love me when I am 80 to 100 pounds? I am

a very good boy and the staff has started to work with

me on my leash walking skills and basic commands.

I am neutered, microchipped, up to date on my age

appropriate vaccinations, and have been given flea

prevention. Could you be the forever home I desire? ♥

►(A409979) Hi, I am a 6 to

8-month-old blue Rat Terrier

mix weighing 24 pounds! I

am a spunky fella and I just

love to run zoomies in the

yard! I have just loved all

people and animals I have

met! I am just a jolly little

guy who can make you smile

all day long with my silliness!

I will continue to be an active

boy well into my adult years!

I was found running loose

April 1, 2020 and my owner did not come looking for me.

I still need some training as I am still just a puppy. I

would love to be your furever friend and put a smile on

your face every day. I am neutered, microchipped, up to

date on vaccinations, and given flea prevention! Could I

be your new family member you’ve been looking for? ♥

►I’m Dozer (A410044) and

I’m a 4-year-old Shepherd mix

boy weighing approximately

42 pounds. My two cat friends

and I were surrendered by our

owner when he was no longer

able to care for us (back on

April 1st). My cat friends have

since been adopted. I am a

very sweet boy but I can have

a mind of my own sometimes.

I am just a goofy happy fella

who loves to play with other

dogs! I am already neutered,

microchipped, up to date on

vaccinations, and on flea

prevention! If you are looking

to add a sweet and happy boy

to your family, I may just be the one! ♥

◄I’m Scar (A410040) and I’m

an 11-month-old male Pit Bull

weighing about 45 pounds! I

have been at the shelter

since March 22, 2020 when

my owner could no longer

properly care for me and my

Chihuahua friend. My friend

had more medical needs and

went to another rescue group!

I am a very smart boy and

have learned so many tricks

while here. I am perfectly

okay with either playing

outside, walking on a leash,

or just curling up in your lap.

I just love to be loved! I am neutered, microchipped, up to

date on vaccinations, and on flea prevention! Could you be

my forever home I have so badly desired? ♥

I’m a 4-year-old beauty named Brooklyn who is often

overlooked because I am a Pit Bull Terrier mix. But truth

be told, I am an old soul with lots of love to give to a

family or an individual. Play time is one of my favorites as

I like to run, chase the jolly balls and bask in the sun. I’ve

learned how to enjoy these simple pleasures because of

all the care and love that I receive here at Paw’s Place.

When I first arrived in December 2017, I had been

abandoned, starved and neglected. But now, I have

learned what it means to be loved on and treated with

kindness. I am looking for a home where I can be the

only dog; I am not good with cats and need space to run.

If you think you can be my next love and snuggle

provider, make an appointment to meet me at Paws

Place. Call 910-845-7297 on Monday through Friday

from 9am to 3pm. I’m looking forward to seeing you here!

I am sponsored by Cindy Meyers in loving memory of

My name is Willow,

aka Nugs! I got my

nickname ‘cause

people keep saying I

am “the cutest nugget

ever”! I tend to agree

with this assessment

so I decided this name

is acceptable. I

definitely have good

looks but I am also a

lot of fun and very

smart. My foster mom

plays a lot of games

with me and I like that

‘cause I usually win

and get all the treats! I

LOVE treats of all kinds

so feel free to tempt

me with a cookie and ask me to do something silly - I will

happily comply. Same goes for quiet time. I like to chill with

some Bravo TV and a good chewy. I especially like it when

my foster mom adds some cream cheese or some peanut

butter for a special treat. When I am done with my chewy

and ready for bed, “Nugs likes to snugs”! Who doesn’t like a

good massage before night-night time? My foster mom is

cool and all but I really want some humans of my very own! I

would consider a fur brother but I have a hard time sharing

with girls. I am a VIP after all! Have you started filling out an

adoption application? I mean, what could you possibly be

waiting for!? For info on our adoption process, application,

and fees, email info@mpbf.org, visit mpbf.org, or give Merit

Pit Bull Foundation a call at 336-618-PITT.

CAROLINA BASSET HOUND RESCUE

I'm Nora and I'm 14-years-old.

Yes, I am an older girl, but I

have much more love left to

give. Just ask my foster

parents. They say I am good

as gold and fit as a fiddle! I am

a good all-around mature gal

and get around just fine. I have

good energy levels and my

personality is shining through. I

like people, other dogs, and am

good in my crate. I will even

use a doggie door! These days

I am happy, healthy and like

attention just like my dog roommates.

If you are looking for an

older lady with some pep in her step, I just might be your gal.

To meet me, call 888-909-2387 or visit www.cbhr.com.

MERIT PIT BULL FOUNDATION

I was just saying to myself

this morning “Ivy, It’s time

you found yourself a family

to call your own” and then I

really had to think about

what kind of family I would

want! They would have to

be a family who has a

good sense of humor,

because even though

I have the best “sit”

you have ever seen,

sometimes I just can’t be

bothered to do it! And sometimes when I have made myself

comfortable on the couch, I just don’t want to move! The

majority of the time I am perfect. You should see me when

it’s time for food. I sit and wait so patiently until I am told I

can start eating. So I definitely want a family who will

appreciate it when I have a rebellious moment every once in

a while. I would also love a family who knows how to relax!

Nothing really beats cuddling up to a human for a good

movie, TV show, or just because we are both feeling lazy!

When I don’t want to move off the couch, it’s really because I

want my foster parents to cuddle with me. Sometimes I get

so excited that its time to cuddle I have to tell my foster

parents how excited I am! (They call it my monkey talks,

whatever that means). Even though I am quite sure of

myself, I definitely want a family that can be patient with me.

It’s hard to imagine that I haven’t always lived the life of

comfort and luxury, but sometimes when other dogs get too

close to me I’m reminded that it hasn’t always been this way.

The good news is that I really don’t care as long as they don’t

get too close to me! My foster parents are helping me learn

that other dogs can be nice and fun, and I actually am

starting to believe them! I really just want a family or person

who will love me so I can call them my own. For an

explanation of our adoption process, application, and fees,

email info@mpbf.org, visit mpbf.org, or call 336-618-PITT.

Adopt-An-ANGEL

We are doing adoptions by appointment and using social distancing.

Please call Jill at 910-620-3783 or Sherry at 910-523-1254 for dogs

and text Melinda for cats at 910-471-6909.

◄My name is Ginger

and I am a senior female

Golden Retriever and

Lab mix (a real Golden

Girl). I am 15-years-old,

calm, settled, wellbehaved,

mild-mannered,

house-trained, and

loveable. I am spayed,

microchipped, heartworm

negative and vaccinated.

I did come in with Zoey

(pictured on page 31)

and while we would love

a home together, we can

be separated if it means one of us has a chance at a

home. It is not helpful for either of us to sit homeless in a

boarding facility waiting indefinitely for the perfect

scenario. Please call Jill at 910-620-3783 or Sherry at

910-523-1254 to meet me. ♥

►My friends call me Chip!

I am a handsome fella

who is about 3-years-old.

I am mid-sized and weigh

about 50 pounds. I am

great with dogs, but not

so great with cats. I am

house-trained, pretty wellmannered

in the house

and very laid back. I lean

to the lazy side and would

love to sleep at your feet

while you watch TV, Netflix,

Hulu or even laser

discs (if you’re old school). Call my foster mom, Jill, at

910-620-3783 to meet me in fur-son. ♥

◄My name is

Sunny and I am

shy at first but

when I warm up to

you, I am sweet,

talkative and playful.

I am a teenage

boy who had a

slight rough start,

but that is ALL

behind me. I do

well with other

cats, calm dogs

and older kids. But

most of all, I am

good with YOU! To bring me into your life, call my

foster mom, Jackie, at 910-523-9719. ♥

◄My name is Waylon and I am

a 40 pound Walker Hound mix. I

was found running loose but

luckily, I am microchipped. They

called my owner who had given

me away to someone who had

given me to someone who had

given me to someone else. It

absolutely broke my heart that

none of them wanted me. Despite

all of that, I’m still eager to

love again. I enjoy the company

of other dogs, I am house-trained

and I would love a home with a

fenced in yard and with a real

Hound lover. Please call Jill at

910-620-3783 or Sherry at 910-523-1254 to meet me. ♥

►Hello! My name is

Sassy and I am about

1-year-old and I am

very well-behaved.

They describe me as:

mellow, friendly and

quiet. I showed up at

a feral colony one day

and turned out to be

very well-socialized

and totally majestic! I

even do well in a multiple

cat home and with

dogs and kids. Please

call my foster mom,

Jill, at 910-620-3783

for more info and to schedule a meeting with me. ♥

◄Hi, my name is Charlie. I was

found running loose in downtown

Leland and no one came looking for

me. I am the sweetest young Hound

you will ever meet. I am loveable and

so eager to please. I just absolutely

love people. I am mid-sized (about 35

to 40 pounds) and do well with other

dogs and kids. I am too playful for a

cat and they find me annoying. I

would make a great pet for some family

looking for a furry friend to make

them smile and laugh. I would really

benefit from a patient human who is

home often, since I am prone to separation

anxiety (and have already been

returned twice). I really need my next home to be a forever

home with a serious adopter who will not let me down. Please

call Jill at 910-620-3783 or Sherry at 910-523-1254. ♥

and text Melinda for cats at 910-471-6909.

◄My name is Dennis

and I was found

running loose in the

Green Swamp of

Brunswick County. I

am a 25 pound Beagle

and I love older kids

and other dogs, too.

Oh, and I would love a

Hound lover with a

fenced in yard to adopt

me. I can be shy at

first with new people

and would love another

dog in the family to

help show me the

ropes. Please use that phone of yours to call Jill at

910-620-3783 or Sherry at 910-523-1254 to meet me. ♥

►My name is Honey

and I am an 8-year-old

female Pit Bull who

weighs about 50

pounds. I am great

with kids and I am

house-trained. I am

friendly and so

incredibly sweet. I

was recently returned

when my family began

working from home

and they thought I

needed a fenced in

yard rather than living

in a small apartment. Please call Jill at 910-620-3783 or

Sherry at 910-523-1254 to meet me. ♥

◄My name is Bailey

and I am a 5-year-old

female Walker Hound

who weighs about 50

pounds. I am loveable,

friendly, sweet, and

house-trained. I do

great with other dogs

and kids older than

5-years. I need a

fenced in yard and a

home without small kids

or cats. I was recently

returned when my mom

began to work from

home and the newborn baby was home 24/7. Quarantining

with a newborn stressed me out and I couldn't

take it anymore. Call Jill at 910-620-3783 or Sherry at

910-523-1254 to make arrangements to meet me. ♥

►Hello, I am Louella and you

may have been following my

story on Facebook. My foster

mom really loves me but she

says I deserve the world and

someone who can let me just be

their best friend all the time. I do

well with other animals. I seem

to love them all and can even be

playful at times. I am cratetrained

and house-trained. I

would like a home with someone

who has some dog experience

and a little bit of patience. My

foster mom says she really

cannot say anything bad about

me except that I will steal your

heart. I was a stray (left to fend

on my own) and was surviving off of birds until a few lovely

officers caught me (when I wasn’t sure if I wanted to be caught).

I am really glad they didn’t give up though because now I know

how great life is with a human inside a house. I am about

2-years-old, spayed, vaccinated, heartworm negative, and

microchipped! I would love a home with someone who has time

to hang out on the couch with me. I am always just a super

happy girl and I love to play with other dogs! I can be a bit of a

puppy sometimes and want to jump on you but I am learning not

everyone wants to be jumped on. I am also a very smart gal. If

you would like to meet me or have any questions, please text

Sara at 910-833-4184. If you would like to fill out an application,

you can go online to adoptanangel.net and print one, fill it out,

then snap a photo and text it to her so she can review it and

then set up a day and time to meet! I hope to meet you soon! ♥

◄My name is Zoey and I am a

senior, female, Golden Retriever

and Lab mix who is about 70

pounds. It is really hard to be on

the hunt for a new home at 11, but

that's the place I find myself at this

stage of my life. Talk about being

dealt a bum hand in life. I am

spayed, heartworm negative,

vaccinated and microchipped. I

am gentle, calm, well-behaved

and do great with dogs and older

kids. I am house-trained with

good house manners. I am just a

lazy, quiet dog who needs a place

to go for the remainder of my life.

Please call Jill at 910-620-3783 or

Sherry at 910-523-1254 to meet me. I did come in with Ginger

(pictured on page 30) and while we would love a home together,

We three gems are Diamond, Citron and Sparkles,

1-year-old siblings. That’s me, Diamond, on the far left.

I’m a gray, black, marbled Tabby boy with white patches.

My fur is stunning and reminds everyone of a mini-tiger. I

even have some orange tabby stripes on my belly! I have

the biggest purr and personality along with my brother

Citron (pictured in the middle). Citron also has such

unique markings (gray, black marbled Tabby with white

patches) and THE most expressive face! Did I mention

he's a love bug? Then there's Sparkles (far right), the only

girl of the trio (gray/black Tabby). She isn't as boisterous

as us boys, but she’s just as sweet with the tiniest meow

and gentle nature. We are all well-adjusted kitties and

have our kitty bags packed. Please consider adopting one

or two of us since a pair of kittens is half the work! We will

entertain each other, have someone our own age to learn

with and be besties for life! If you have any questions

about the adoption process, or if you’d like to make an

appointment to meet us, please call Cat Adoption Team

at 910-792-9014.

We are sponsored by Cole & Slate Mayew. Thank you!

I’m a beautiful Lab mix

girl named Leia and, at

2-years-old, I’m on the

small side at a mere 40

pounds. I walk great on

a leash and I’m learning

commands. I really

love going outside to

play ball, too! I’m

looking for a loving

home without cats, but I

do get along with some

dogs. A “meet and

greet” would tell us if I’d

be a good fit with your

girl or boy. I have been

spayed and vaccinated.

I did test positive for

heartworms but, don’t

worry, the shelter will

pay for my treatment. If

my sweet face has touched your heart and you’d like to

learn more about the adoption process, call Pender County

Humane Society at 910-259-7022 with any questions.

◄Who is your favorite Lucy?

Is it the main character of a

mediocre 2014 movie? Is it

the loveable but slightly nutty

character in the TV show I Love

Lucy? Or is it the 2.4 million

year old skeleton known as the

oldest human? Or is it me, a

3-month-old light gray, female

kitten who is looking for a

home? There have been lots

of Lucys over the years, but I

think I could be your favorite

one. We could have a great time together and maybe we

could make a new TV show: My Favorite Lucy! ♥

Tony

Tiny

▲Do you really need a little excitement in your life? Do you

want some entertainment and lots of laughs? There is

nothing better than a couple of kittens! May we introduce

ourselves? We are Tony and Tiny. We are a very bonded

pair of black and white, 6-month-old brothers. We are full of

kittenish antics that will keep you laughing. Then we’ll curl

up with you and sleep until it’s time to play some more. We

really, really want to be adopted together because some

kittens are like potato chips - you can’t have just one. ♥

►I was young, alone and

homeless with six kittens.

It was a desperate

situation. Fortunately,

I ended up at Cat Tails.

My babies are now

independent and I’m

healthy again. I’ve

gained some weight and

I’m looking good so I’m

searching for a new

forever home. I’m a very pretty 2-year-old pastel Calico

named Callie. Not a very original name but you could

change it and I won’t be bothered at all. I really love people

and I’d rather not put up with dogs, other cats or children. I

know this sounds awfully picky but I want it to be a forever

home and I want us both to be ecstatically happy! ♥

►My name

is Abbott.

I’m a

4-year-old

boy, but I

haven’t

changed a

bit since I

was a

youngster,

don’t you

agree? I

have big, intense eyes and a

beautiful ticked Tabby coat. That means that I look like a

solid color but every hair has bands of color. If you come

to meet me, I can show you what I mean. I’m exceptionally

sweet and I think everybody is my friend! My favorite

things are head butts and belly rubs. I think I would be a

perfect addition to your family. ♥

◄I’m a 3-year-old

Tabby named

Kesha. I was

adopted by a

college girl. She

decided to study

in Europe and

dropped me off

with her grandfather.

That’s when

I found out that

the grandfather

doesn’t really like cats. This all sounds like the plot for a

soap opera, doesn’t it? Unfortunately, it all happened to

me, but fortunately I was first adopted from Cat Tails and

that meant I could come back there. Eventually, the grandfather

dropped me off and now I’m looking for a new place

to live. I would prefer a home with no other cats, no dogs,

no small children and no anti-cat grandfathers! ♥

►Two-years ago, a guy came to Cat

Tails with a big microwave box.

He said there was a microwave oven

in the box, but there were meows

coming from it. As it turned out, there

were fourteen little kittens in the box,

and no oven! I’m Lara and I’m the

only one left. I had an eye infection

when I was little so one of my eyes is

a little cloudy. It doesn’t need any

medicine and it won’t get any better

or worse. If that doesn’t bother you,

please make an appointment to come

meet me. I will be your new best

friend. I’m spayed and vaccinated,

and ready to move in with you. ♥

Due to Covid-19, Cat Cover Model Winner

Clementine’s appearance on the May

cover of PawPrints Magazine has been

postponed to a future issue, along with the

reveal of cat Runners-up and Honorable

Mentions. We look forward to celebrating

them later, and we send our best wishes for

everyone’s safety and good health!

My name is

Rogan and I was

brought to CARE

by a good

Samaritan who

wanted to help me.

I am very sweet, I

love to lay outside

in the sun, and I

will never turn

down a treat! I am

7-years-old and

was diagnosed

with Scabies,

Heartworm

Disease, and

numerous skin

tumors when I first

arrived at CARE.

I’ve since been

treated for all my

ailments and I’m

ready for a new

home! The masses were surgically removed, and though

some were cancerous, they were completely excised. I am

a particular fella who needs time to adjust to most dogs, but

I don’t particularly care for cats. I am good with kids and

just want a comfy place to lay my head and rest. If you

would like to meet me, please call 910-256-2624 or email

◄I’m Zeus! Yes - like

the god! And I feel like

one at SOAR! I love the

awesome people here but

I really, really, really want

my own home. I have

some separation anxiety

so maybe having a friend

would be cool! I’m a

sweet boy who lives to sit

right next to you. They

think I’m about 2-years-old

(maybe a little younger). I

would love to get together

and throw the ball around

sometime with you, so

how about visiting me soon? ♥

◄Hi there! I’m a

darling boy named

Frankie and they tell

me I’m a Jack Russell

Terrier mix. At

just 9-months-old,

I’m practically a pup

and super-sweet. I

can be a little shy at

first and timid around

loud noises, but give

me a moment and a

few treats and I’ll

warm right up! I’m

healthy and ready to

go home with you! ♥

A Message from SOAR

Due to the current quarantine

restrictions, SOAR will be open

by appointment only! If you would

like to meet one of our precious

babies, please call 910-457-6340.

Thank you so much for your

understanding!

▲Hi, I’m Jazz, and I’m a total sweetie. The ladies say

not to wear makeup around me because I LUV to give

kisses and you will end up with a bare face! I really

love people but would prefer to be the only pet in the

house. I’m 1-year-old and a handsome Boxer mix! ♥

◄Hello,

I’m Tulip!

I moved to

SOAR

from Second

Chance Pet

Adoptions in

Raleigh,

where I

twice tested

positive for

Feline

Leukemia

(FeLV). At

SOAR I can

freely move

about with other FeLV+ cats waiting for someone nice to

adopt us. So here I am, gentle and sweet, and hoping for

that big break. I’ll be a wonderful companion for someone

who’ll give me a chance. How about you? ♥

▲I’m Inky, a Certified Love Bug, and I’m at the top of my

class when it comes to cuddling. The volunteers are

always carrying me around (I like to be held) and I also

have my Lap Cat certification, as lap-sitting is one of my

favorite things to do. I will make someone so very happy

once I am adopted! At 3-years-old, I’m an ebony boy who

is neutered, vaccinated and litterbox-trained. I am also FIV

positive, but it’s really not a big deal. Cats with FIV can live

just as long as other cats, and our care is no different than

any other feline. Just give us nutritious food, an indoor

home, regular vet visits and lots of love! Find out about FIV

online, talk to your vet or talk to my SOAR pals! ♥

Looking for a quarantine

buddy? I’m Kirby and I’m

your guy! No silly antics

this time, just facts. I am a

very sweet boy who loves

to cuddle, and I get the

cutest, proudest look on my

face when I’m begging for

attention. I’ll follow you

around everywhere, if you'll

let me, but I also listen

really well when you tell me

to stay. I get along great

with other dogs in my foster

home. I play hard with the

other energetic Pit Bull and

gladly give the Dachshund

her space. My favorite

things to do outside are chase and wrestle with the other Pit

Bull, chew on sticks, and play fetch. Inside, I like to snooze

on the couch or in my crate, and watch the world go by

through the window. I’m a perfect companion for all that

quarantine TV watching you're doing! I’m 3-years-old and

roughly 50 pounds. I am crate-trained, house-trained, and

do great on a leash. I know the commands: sit, down, stay,

leave it, shake, and touch. I can be shy with new people

but warm up quickly, and I do well with cats with a proper

slow introduction. For information on our adoption process,

application, and fees, email info@mpbf.org, visit mpbf.org,

or give Merit Pit Bull Foundation a call at 336-618-PITT.

R.A.C.E. (Rescue Animals Community Effort)

To make an appointment to adopt one of us, please call 910-579-0407.

►My name is

Todd and I’m

an adorable

American

Spitz. I came

to the shelter

after my

owner passed

away. I am

approximately

6 to 8-yearsold

and weigh

in at a cuddly

25 pounds. I

go to the

animal doctor

this month to get all my vaccinations and to see if I test

positive for heartworms. I am a quiet little dog and I am

good on the leash, too. ♥

◄My name is Cookie. I came to

Rescue Animal Community Effort

(aka R.A.C.E) from a shelter. I

am a 14-year young Chihuahua

who weighs 12 pounds. I like

everyone and I get along well with

other dogs. I am heartworm

negative, house-trained and very

laid-back. If you think senior dogs

rule, then I hope you’ll make an

appointment for us to meet. ♥

►Hi, my name is Freddy. I

am a 3-year-old Dachshund

boy who weighs 12 pounds.

I am heartworm positive but

R.A.C.E. will pay for my

treatment. I am going to be

neutered soon so I’ll be

ready for adoption. I am

wearing a belly band

because I still mark in the

house. It’s a great training

tool for pups like me. I like other dogs and I like kids. I love

lap time and will enjoy your attention and cuddles. ♥

▲Hi, my name is Columbo. I am a Chihuahua mix. As

you can see by the picture, I’m a little guy. I am quite at

home in your lap and I love to play with other dogs. I am

around 1-year-old and I’m heartworm negative. I weigh

just 13 pounds and I love everyone. I still wear a belly

band in the house, I don’t like to potty on leash and prefer

a fenced yard. ♥

◄My name is King. I

am a 7-month-old

Terrier mix who weighs

17 pounds. That

means I will probably

be 25 to 30 pounds

when fully grown. I like

to play with other dogs

and I love people. I am

heartworm negative,

vaccinated and fixed. I

came to R.A.C.E. with

an injured paw but that

has been treated and

I’m all healed up. ♥

▲My name is Buddy and I’m so cute, I deserved two

pictures! I love all other dogs and adore people. I am a

2-year-old Chihuahua who weighs 8 pounds. I am

heartworm negative. Everyone tells me that I am the

sweetest boy and that I get very attached to my person. ♥

►Hello everyone, my name is

Skipper. I am 3-years-old, I

weigh 18 pounds and I tested

negative for heartworms. I

love people and like to spend

my days cuddling with you

and sitting on your lap. I am

still young and active and like

to take walks. I enjoy other

dogs but it takes time for me

to be comfortable around new

dogs. I need time to check

them out to make sure they’re

cool like me. I am already

house-trained, too! ♥

WHAT THE DUCK?

Easter Ducklings Prone to Dumping

By Amelia Mason with SkyWatch Bird Rescue

Easter activities like buying baby ducks and releasing them at

your local pond at some point is a sad, illegal and cruel annual

activity many people have a habit of doing. When you buy

chicks at the store (or procure them in any way), raise them at

home, then release them in the community pond, neighborhood

pond, or any pond that's not your own private property (not HOA

or community property, but your personal property) you are

committing a crime called domestic animal abandonment. Just

like you cannot go to the beach and release your chickens, you

cannot drive into the woods and release your pet rabbit, you

cannot drive into town and release your pet goat, you cannot go

release your pet ducks at the local pond.

Farm animals that you have acquired are your own personal

property and have to remain in your possession or adopted into

the safe possession of someone else. They need bi-annual

de-wormers, vaccinations, a predator safe shelter, proper food

everyday and vet care just like any other farm animal or pet

animal. Untreated domestic Ducks can also be Trojan horses

for many diseases, spreading into the waters while not showing

signs of being ill themselves yet. This poses a great threat to

the native wildlife and can spread disease that affect entire

nesting colonies of migratory and protected wild birds. Being

stressed by suddenly living out at a pond after being raised by

humans, being chased by predators at night and no longer

having the food source provided by their former owner is just

the right stress catalyst to spur the onset of such diseases like

DVE (duck virus entiritis), a highly contagious waterfowl disease

spread through the water, along with many other poultry

diseases. USDA, Dept of Agriculture and AVA all warn against

the irresponsible practice of allowing domesticated ducks to

share the same waters as any wild birds that come and go.

Cutting loose domestic animals into your neighborhood or the

community is not only illegal and unethical towards the animal,

but it's reckless pollution of your local community's water

system. The ducks (with potential worms and disease) spread

their feces into the water that flows into our public water system.

You are not allowed to flush your pig's feces into the local

ditches or go scatter your chickens’ feces onto the beaches,

and so too you are not allowed to let your PET ducks that you

bought, go spread their feces day after day into the community

retention pond, which is meant for storm water run off and overflow

mitigation, not as a toilet for your dumped animal purchase.

These animals have no way to survive the predators in the wild.

They are unable to fly away and evade attack, they cannot find

food in the wild the way wild ducks like mallards and wood

ducks can, who can fly from pond to pond. They basically glow

in the dark for predators. (Ever notice how wild Ducks are brown

and can blend into the environment? Or that there are no white

ducks flying around in the sky?) These animals are domestic,

not wild, entirely dependent on the care from a human, just like

a horse, pig, cat or dog. They do not live quality lives out on the

pond and they usually don't live very long as they have no

“They need bi-annual de-wormers,

vaccinations, a predator

safe shelter, proper

food everyday and

vet care just

like any other

farm animal or

pet animal.”

survival skills like a wild animal. Those that did not get attacked

and injured by predators end up eating just bread or crackers or

corn that the occasional visitor tosses out, which are just simple

starch junk foods, and has no nutritional value for them. They

starve during Winter when it's cold and no one comes out to

toss them food. They have no shelter during hurricanes, they

are completely exposed to the elements and all dangers out

there. They end up with thick painful swollen arthritis ridden

joints from just eating bread day after day (or the occasional

cracked corn at best) which is depleted nutrition and inflammatory...we

can go on and on. There are a 1000 reasons why you

should not be abandoning a domestic animal that you have

raised at home out into the community. Many people that buy

ducks to raise at home don't even bother to check and make

sure that it doesn't violate their HOA ordinances, city or county

ordinances in the first place. Most towns and communities do

not allow the ownership of ducks, let alone allow their abandonment

on to public or government property after you have kept

them at home and raised them.

This lack of understanding about who can live out in the wild

and who cannot, this lack of education, the entitlement that

some people feel, this idea that a duck can live on a pond no

matter what kind of duck it is, this notion that an animal is an

Easter time purchase that you can then dispose of causes a

great deal of suffering and eventual death for thousands upon

thousands of ducks and geese each year. (This also goes for

other impulse Easter purchases like bunnies, chickens, etc.) It

also brings a huge annual financial burden on the non-profit

shelters who work to save them and their thinly stretched manpower.

Duck dumpers leave their responsibility at the pond and

drive away, then non-profit animal rescuers catch them when

they're starved, sick, or injured (or all of the above), and pay for

the vet care and the treatment of these animals without pay or

reimbursement...a selfish and irresponsible burden to put on

your fellow man. (That’s only if the Duck is even lucky enough

to have been found by a rescue equipped to come catch him

out of the water.)

If you've done this before because you didn't know better, YOU

are the best person to help spread the message and help educate

your fellow man to help everyone understand and know

better. You may have done this and even be an animal

lover, because you just didn't know. Now you know.

SkyWatch Bird Rescue is a non-profit organization started by Amelia Mason, a reputable and federally licensed wildlife rehabilitator.

Focusing on the rescue of injured wild birds in southeastern NC, Amelia (along with a small team of dedicated volunteers) rescues all types

of injured, orphaned and misplaced birds in our area. From the smallest hummingbird to the giant pelican, no bird in need is ever turned

away. Birds receive medical care, food, safe housing and rehabilitation until they can be returned back to the wild for “a chance to soar

once more”. Domestic and exotic birds receive permanent safe sanctuary at SkyWatch, for a chance to retire into peaceful lives.

Hi, I’m Brinkley and I'm about 6-years-old. There are things

I love that I want you to know about, and things I don’t really

love that I hope you can help me with. I have bounced

around from many homes over the last year, and I’m a bit

confused and not sure what to think. I love being with my

person, especially on their lap. What startles me is when

more people just show up; I need help understanding that

this is ok and someone who will help me learn to not be so

reactive when people show up. I need my person to let me

know what is ok while I learn to trust the world around me.

I am not ready for more dogs in my house or immediate

surroundings, I have too much on my mind right now. If you

are open to helping me build trust in a forever home, I will

promise to always be your best Basset whether sleeping on

your lap or by your feet. I am an adorable, healthy young

Basset who has not had the benefit of a stable home in my

early years. If you are able to give me a secure, consistent

home with minimal disruptions and no other dogs, I would be

a wonderful addition. Visit our website at www.cbhr.com or

call 888-909-2387 if you are interested in meeting me. My

bags are packed and I’m ready for my own forever home!

I am sponsored by Ocean Grill and Tiki Bar

in Carolina Beach and in loving memory of Bess.

I am Princess

Mew-Mew aka

Sweetie Pie. I

am shy at first,

but I blossom

into a total

sweetheart with

a little time. I

hum when I am

nervous, and

chirp when I am

relaxed. I love

to be groomed

and cuddling

makes me

happy, too. I

live with dogs

and cats in my

foster home

and would prefer to not live with A LOT of animals, if I can

help it. I am a dainty little Tabby who has been overlooked

quite some time. Please call my foster mom, Jill, at 910-620-

3783 if you would like to meet me. For info on me or to inquire

about the adoption process, call Adopt-An-ANGEL at

910-392-0557 or visit www.adoptanangel.net.

I am sponsored in honor of all the wonderful foster

mommies & daddies who care for homeless animals.

►Hello, my

name is Jutt.

I am very shy

and need to

take time to

adjust in a new

environment.

I am about

1-year-old and

trying to find my

forever home.

The perfect

family for me needs to be understanding that I might need

more time to adjust than other kitties. They also must enjoy

a good game of chase with a string toy (those are my

favorite). I am ok with other kitties, I have already been

spayed, and I'm up to date on my shots. Now, all I need

is you. Could you be the perfect home for me? ♥

◄Do you have a

home on the quiet

side and want to add

a little love in your

life? I'm Maytag and

am 2½-years-old and

I enjoy a good toy or

some catnip. I get

along with my other

foster kitties. I would

love to play with you.

My foster parent is

always telling me

what a beautiful girl I

am but I don't let it go to my head. I am an easy-going girl

who just wants to find her perfect someone. I do not need a

ton of attention but I will always be there to have a conversation

with you. So if you enjoy a good game night and

meaningful conversations, I am your girl. ♥

►My name is Michael. Are

you looking for the purr-fect

guy to sweep you off your feet?

I am your cat! I enjoy just

spending the day with you. We

can watch a movie, eat some

snacks or maybe read a book.

I come off a little shy at events

because they can be a bit overwhelming.

I prefer the comfort

of your home so we can get to

know each other properly. I am

just as sweet as can be and

can promise to love you unconditionally.

At about 1-year-old, I am still pretty young but

that doesn't mean anything when it comes to love. I have

everything I need to go home with you and become your

best friend. Shots - check, neuter - check and all the love

and cuddles you need - check and check. ♥

►Hey, I'm Roman and I

am in my best dressed

fur awaiting my perfect

family. My tux is freshly

cleaned and everything.

My perfect family needs

to be understanding and

give me time to warm up.

I do not go to adoption

events as they are a bit

too busy for me. I would

prefer a nice, quiet home

where we can relax

and enjoy a movie and

a treat. I am almost

2-years-old now and

need to have a kitty

companion. I am all

ready with my shots and neuter, all I need is a ride to your

house. It doesn't have to be a limo just because of my

awesome outfit, your car will do just fine. ♥

►Nott your average kitty

here. I may come off shy

at first but I am really a

talkative fella. I am looking

for my forever person to

play with me. My favorite

toys are the string ones.

Chasing them around and

trying to catch them is just

the best. So if you are a

patient person who enjoys a

good game of catch the

string, I'm the cat for you.

After play time, we can

relax and have a good

conversation and watch a

movie. I am 11-months-old and have all my shots and am

neutered. Please come take me home. ♥

◄I'm Ninja or Ninji-poo as

my foster calls me. I used

to live outside my foster's

home and gave her the

run around while she tried

to catch me. It took a

good 3-months to catch

me as I am a crafty kitty

(a ninja you may say).

I quickly realized that

people are ok and living

as an inside pet was for me. I am about 7-months-old but

I’m a small kitty due to my past life outside. I am ready to

find my forever home. I love head bunks and pets. I wag

my tail because I am happy to see you. I love other cats but

am a bit scared of dogs. I also like to "ninja" my way into the

chimney for a nap. Can I come home with you? ♥

At just 10 to 12

pounds, I’m a precious

puppy boy named

Boogie! They tell me

I’m a smooth-coated

Terrier mix and only

8-months-old. I’m a

darling companion

who loves going on

walks and playing with

my toys inside. I’m

learning all about that

thing called housetraining

and I’m fully

vaccinated and

neutered. I play well

with other dogs and I

am friendly to children.

So what do you say?

Are you ready to share

your life with an adorable

pup like me? If so, please call Pender Endangered

Animal Rescue (PEAR) at 910-512-8522 or send an email

to dogadoption1@gmail.com. We can set up a time to

Moxie (a girl) and this

Lily. We are

Be a Wave Maker of Positive Change

Would you like to be part of the ripple and create a wave

of Happy Tales that keeps pets and their families together in

the face of adversity? Join Sergei Foundation’s Ripple Effect

at www.sergeifoundation.org/donate and support their mission

to coordinate and fund veterinary care for companion

dogs and cats.

A ripple effect is a phenomenon where one single action

can create great effect. Many people say they don't give

because they consider their gift too small, but every act of

kindness combines with others' monthly contributions creating

positive impact far greater than any one individual could

accomplish! Just like the smallest rain drop creates a ripple

in the sea, your monthly donation creates the momentum to

save pets' lives.

As little as $5 a month creates a ripple. Each month's

reoccurring donation merges with others to create a wave of

compassion able to save pets' lives and forever change the

people who love them.

Please consider signing up for a monthly automatic donation

via your credit or debit card. Donations are fully taxdeductible

and 100% of individual ripple contributions will be

applied towards veterinary care for pets in critical care need.

Please see ad on page 5 for more information on the Sergei

Foundation’s response to the COVID-19 virus pandemic.

Let’s make waves!

Coming Soon!

Monty’s Home will soon

be offering dog training at

their new facility in Burgaw.

Specializing in training shelter

dogs for over a decade

in their prison program, they

will bring this experience

and proven success to the

community at affordable

rates. With 100% reward

base / force free training

methods, it will teach new, adopting families how to help their

E-Book Helps Comfort Shelter Pets

Since 2007 Comfort for Critters (CFC) has created and

donated almost 100,000 handmade blankets to over 300

animal shelters across the US. While a pet awaits adoption,

the blankets provide a comfortable bed. When they are

adopted, their blanket goes with them, providing something

familiar as they adjust to their “forever family”.

CFC is taking the next step, to encourage everyone to join

in, by publishing their first ever e-book of their most trusted

crochet patterns. “Crochet for Critters” includes a background

on this amazing group, along with their favorite 30

crochet patterns to easily make the perfect pet blanket for a

pet. Each of the patterns was developed by CFC's founder,

Linda Kastiel Kozlowski, and used to create adorable blankets

for animal shelter pets. If you love pets and love crochet,

this is the easiest way to get started helping shelters

and get started making gorgeous blankets for your own pet!

Since CFC blankets are shipped free of charge to the

shelters, their postage bill grows each month. Sales of this

e-book will keep Comfort for Critters going and keep them

shipping their blankets! To learn more about their mission,

please check out their website at ComfortForCritters.org or

Well, I’m no Spanky, Darla or Alfalfa, but I am quite the

Little Rascal just the same! Yes, my name is Rascal and

I’m a loveable, handsome, 2-year-old Orange Tabby boy

who has tested positive for FIV. Wait, please continue

reading! It is a cat-only virus and cannot be spread through

casual, friendly contact between cats. FIV+ cats like me

can and DO live normal lives in quality, duration, and

happiness. In fact, being FIV+ never gets me down, I’m a

total Love Bug who just wants a family to finally call my

own. A home where I am the only cat or one with another

cat that is FIV positive would be best. Cat-friendly dogs

would be okay, too! If you have any questions, call SOAR

at 910-457-6340. I want to grow up as part of your family!

I am sponsored by SOAR in loving memory of

all their wonderful, furry friends who made it safely

to the Rainbow Bridge.

Great Dane Friends of Ruff Love

Please call 704-584-9257 or email info@greatdanefriends.com to adopt!

◄Hi, my name is

Phoebe and I am

a 3-year-old petite

Great Dane. I was

rescued from a

shelter in June

2019 with 2 other

Great Danes. Not

only did I come

into rescue with a

horrible upper

respiratory

infection, but also

pregnant with

7 puppies. Now

that all of my pups have found loving homes, it’s my turn! I am very

gentle and loving with people that I am familiar with; if I am not

familiar with you then I will just hide. I currently live with other dogs

and cats and get along great with everyone! I am crate-trained but

can also be trusted to roam the house. I love to nap by a window

while covered with my blankie, and bask in the sunshine. I’ll also

supervise meal prep, and dismantle toys. My foster mom says that I

am more of a “dog dog” than a “people dog.” I love my “person” the

most but do prefer the company of canine and feline companions

more than being out in public. I would fit in best with a family who has

either older children or no children as loud noises and a lot of activity

makes me nervous. My forever family is required to have at least a

6’ fence as well as another canine companion. My adopters will also

need to understand that it will probably take me longer than most

dogs to decompress and settle into a new home. ♥

►Hi, my

name is

Bubba

and I am a

3-year-old

male Great

Dane mix

who came

into rescue

from a

South

Carolina

shelter. I

love to

play and

run and I

get along

great with

other dogs

and cats. I

am housetrained

and crate-trained and great in public. I can be

stubborn at times so continuing my training on a

consistent basis is key to keeping me happy. I

would do best with an active, adventure-seeking

family. Our approval process consists of an

application, vet and reference checks, a phone

interview, and a home visit. Please note that we

do require adopters to have a fenced in yard. ♥

▲Hi, my name is Evie and I am a petite 2-year-old spayed

female Great Dane who came into rescue when my owner

surrendered me. I am great with all sized dogs, cats, kids,

and people. I am house-trained and crate-trained and I

LOVE to go for car rides. I love all toys, but especially the

stuffed toys. I was diagnosed with Cushing’s disease and am

on a daily dose of meds that I will need to take for the rest of

my life. I will also require periodic bloodwork at the vet. I am

looking for a family who is willing to love me despite all of my

medical issues. My foster family thinks I’m pretty perfect! ♥

I’m a very sweet

They think I’m

possibly a Jack

intestinal parasites

and a terrible ear infection, and now I’m all ready to move

is Trip and at just

3-months-old I

have had to have

an amputation, but

that has not

stopped me from

playing with my

babies (stuffed

animals) and

enjoying life. My

daily walks are

something I look

forward to and I am learning all kinds of new things. I am a

happy 15 pound Beagle boy and they tell me I am sweet as

sugar, which kinda makes me blush. Maybe I can be a

special addition to your family and enjoy cuddling and belly

rubs! Make an appointment to visit me by calling Paws

personality is very

friendly and sweet, just

a bit bashful. But, like a

who loves people and is very outgoing! I would love to

have a family that wants to cuddle and also has a fenced

like to sing to my captive audience, it’s quite the show!

Even better, I have lots of love to give to the right, special

family. Is that you? I’ll be looking for my visitors and can’t

wait to give you the ’nose of approval’. ♥

◄Hello, my

name is Roo

and I am so

excited to

meet you!

Being a

5-year-old gal

makes me an

awesome

choice for

adoption

because I

have ‘super

powers’...

Like I am

super-sweet, super-friendly, and like to play with my toys.

My past was not so great, but I know that I will be so happy

to be in a loving home showered with lots of hugs and

affection. If you’re interested in me being a companion

for you, please make an appointment for us to meet! ♥

◄Looking for a sweet,

laid-back kinda gal? Well,

that’s me, Jasmine! A little

bit of TLC would get me

to open up and be your next

couch-cuddler. I’m a

2-year-old, middle weight

(37 pounds) female champ,

who would do best with a

fenced yard and another

dog to show me the ropes.

Don’t you want to be my

forever champion and give

me a wonderful home?

Please make an appointment
