I recognize the way
I will love you
with the blue milk
of the moon:
exactly how the earth delivers me down
into new arms, each time more delicate
than the last:
and how often has she confided
in me about motherhood? this Virgin Mary reconfigured,
Mary whose white garment
disintegrated into birds. Mother of God
has to slowly sing rain but she keeps me awake,
just describing your face.
