TOP TIPS FOR A MINDFUL MORNING

from Te Manava Spa & Tiare Spa

Start your day in the right way with these Top Tips for a Mindful Morning from

Te Manava Spa and Tiare Spa. Practice these on a daily basis and you will be sure to

achieve a sense of calm that will carry you peacefully throughout the day.

tip one: take a moment to breath

Breath work helps the body system revitalise

and contributes to a sense of calm rather than

anticipating the rush of the day that we are so

used to feeling.

tip two: affirmations

Start your day affirming what you want for

yourself emotionally, spiritually and physically.

Tip: You could use affirmations that start with

“I AM” such as...

“I AM perfect in this moment”

“I AM exactly the way I need to be”

“I AM calm and I know everything is working for

me not to me”.

tip three: set your daily intention

Take a quiet moment to sit and write down how

you wish to go about your day. Energetically?

Positively? Without drama? Only focusing on the

positive things, think about actions you can take

today that would demonstrate real value to you.

6

tip four: gratitude goes a long way

While you are at it, why not also note down

5 things you are thankful for. When you focus

constantly on the things to be grateful for its

hard to find time to focus on the negatives.

tip five: get your body moving

Stretch. Get moving. Activity releases

endorphins, endorphins make you happy. Even

a short 10 minutes can make all the difference!

tip six: nourish your body

Eat a light but nutritious breakfast. If you

are strapped for time, make a smoothie! Be

sure to fill it with a colourful array of fruit

and vegetables. There are plenty of amazing

nourishing smoothie recipes on Pinterest.

Most importantly be easy on yourself. These

things may seem new and different to you, so

give yourself some time to get used to living

consciously! We all stumble with mindfulness at

the start but with consistency you’ll get there!!

LOVE A LITTLE GRANOLA

from Little Polynesian Resort

It’s not often our team at Little Poly get to share our best kept culinary secrets; but we

feel the time is right. We all know we all need to look after our health, especially in times

like these. The first place to start is to kick of your day with a healthy and nutritious

breakfast. Our very own chef Carlo has helped us create a step-by-step guide to follow,

to create his “famous” homemade granola, which ingredients are derived from all the

very best our islands have to offer.

Our team is dedicated to promoting healthy eating, and in paradise, nature always lends

a helping hand, especially here in Rarotonga, where coconuts thrive. With coconut

palms being considered by many as the Tree of Life, at Little Polynesian Resort we

use this versatile and highly nutritious power fruit to our advantage when creating this

delightfully crisp granola. We hope that you enjoy this delectable, and healthy treat.

ingredients

250ml coconut oil

200ml coconut nectar

750g jumbo rolled oats

250g sliced almonds

250g cashew nuts

200g pumpkin seeds

200g sunfower seeds

250g desiccated coconut

recipe

1. Arrange a rack in the middle of the oven and

heat to 300°F

2. Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment

paper; set aside.

3. Place the coconut oil and coconut nectar in a

large bowl and whisk to combine.

4. Transfer raw granola onto the prepared

baking sheet and spread into an even layer. If

the granola is clumpy, use a spatula to press it

into the pan.

5. Bake for approx 25 minutes (toss the mixture

halfway through).

6. The granola is ready when golden-brown and

the almonds & cashew nuts have toasted —it

will still feel wet coming out of the oven but

will dry as it cools.

7. Place the baking sheet on a wire rack and

sprinkle on the raisins or fruit. Tip – If you

want clumps of granola, press the granola

before it cools, which will help it stick together.

8. Cool completely before storing. Transfer the

cooled granola to an airtight container for

long-term storage.

FAMILY FITNESS WITH PACIFIC RESORT

from Pacific Resort Rarotonga

The Aunties are at it again and want to share their family fitness routine so you all can

try to wiggle those hips at home! Watch and follow along with our little island warriors

and princess!

It may be a little subjective, and we are admittedly pretty bias, but it doesn’t take away

from the fact that Cook Islanders are pretty good singers and dancers. Singing and

dancing are both a huge a part of the Cook Islands culture, to which anyone who’s

been to a cultural performance here will agree, but is also a great way way to stay fit

and healthy, and like our Aunties say...beautiful too!
