Illinois Region Alumni Association: Our History
The Illinois Region Alumni Association (IRAA) is a Region wide alumni
association with the purpose of supporting the Region as a whole, as well as
providing support to individual chapters without their own alumni association.
Members of IRAA volunteer at Regional activities, host Region wide
programming, speak at chapter induction ceremonies, and more.
The Illinois Region Alumni Association (IRAA) was officially chartered on
October 27 th , 2001 with 23 original members. After a few years of service, the
association lost active members and unfortunately went dormant.
However, in 2014, Phi Theta Kappa Headquarters pushed for the Illinois Region
to reactivate the alumni association. Between April and June of 2014, a small
group of alumni developed a plan to hold an annual meeting at the Illinois
Regional Convention and elect a new executive board. This annual meeting
consisted of 25 attendees and was a huge success!
ILLINOIS REGION
ALUMNI ASSOCIATION
WHO WE ARE
During the 2014-2015 officer term, the executive board spent much time
rewriting the bylaws and navigating their way to establish the long-term
success of IRAA. They continuously looked for ways that IRAA could support
and give back to the Region, the Illinois chapters, members, and alumni.
Every year since, IRAA has continued to hold its annual meeting at the IL
Regional Convention, elect new officers for the board, and find new and exciting
ways to support Phi Theta Kappa, the Illinois Region, and all members and
alumni.
