FireSeal's whole idea is that it should be easy to work with our systems, so
that the installer can understand it quickly and thereby increase the chance for
a safe and correctly installed fire protecting solution.
FireSeal was started over 40 years ago. We were commissioned by the
Swedish Government to develop a system for fire sealing Sweden’s nuclear
power plants. Probably one of the most safety-critical properties you can imagine.
And what worked there, obviously also works in other environments. From
power plants, industrial premises and mines, to residences, offices, schools,
hospitals, hotels and malls.
Today, our systems prevent the spread of fire, water, smoke and gases in
many of the largest construction projects in Europe.

FIRE RESISTANCE CLASSES
Fire resistance of building elements and constructions can be classified into different fire resistance classes or combinations thereof .The different classes
specify the different types of functional requirements. The class code usually also indicates a number which shows the time when the functional requirements

Integrity E is the ability of a building element, with a separating
function, to withstand fire on one side, and avoid it from
spreading to the unexposed side through leakage of flames or hot
gases.# When assessing the integrity of the component, we need
to adhere to the following parameters:
- cracks or openings over a certain dimension
- ignition of a piece of cotton wool

Insulation
Insulation I is the ability of a building element to, in the event of
fire on one side, contain the temperature below a certain level on
the unexposed side. Generally, the maximum temperature rise in
an individual point should not be more than 180 K, and an average
temperature rise on some points should not be more than 140 K.

FIRST AID KIT
Everything that is required to fire seal
ALWAYS HAVE ´´A FIRST AID KIT´´ IN THE CAR
You never know when you end up with a penetration that requires fire protection.
With FireSeal’s ready-packed “First-Aid” kits in the car, you have
everything you need to easily and quickly reset fire protection after the work is
complete.
The kits are available in both silicone for demanding industry environments,
or acrylic for offices and other indoor installations and provide automatically
approved fire sealing of small and average openings for cables and metal pipes.
Each pack consists of a blanket roll, which is a ceramic insulation and a
sealant, that is sufficient for about 5 dm 2 of sealing area.
FIRE SEAL LABEL
A label for Id marking installations
The completed fire seals shall be documented and marked for inspection
and subsequent additions. Thanks to the FireSeal original brand, no information
is forgotten. The glue is age-resistant and the print is permanent
Delivered as a roll of 100 labels. Printed in Swedish and Norwegian.

TESTED AND APPROVED PRODUCTS
Fire seal products are inauspicious but vitally important. If
they work as they should, they save lives, if they don’t, a
catastrophe may become a fact. All FireSeal products are
tested and approved as per the fire protection rules in the
market. Some products have national Swedish and Norwegian
approvals, others have the European CE approvals. What
is common for the entire range is that it is secure and safe to

use, and you as a customer do not need to worry. Apart from
the fire approvals, the environmental properties of the
product are tested and declared. These declarations are
thereafter verified by the environmental assessment companies.
FireSeal is moreover quality and environment certified
as per ISO 9001 and 14001.

FLEX
Fire-classified flexible sealing compound
1-component silicone-based sealing compound
with very good adhesion, elasticity and strength
even in demanding environments. Silicone
compounds are not suitable for coating. Used for
sealing of fire boards in agressive and humid
environments as a part of the “Flex Board System”
& “Flex Blanket System”. Is moreover approved for
using as a seal in the “Reactive Board Sytem”. The
hardened silicone compund prevents penetration
of gas, water, dust and sound, and withstands
vibrations and movements, without cracking or
being deformed. The adhesion ability is good for
the most common construction materials such as
plaster, steel, aluminium, plastic and glass for
installation as per instructions.
FS 400
REACTIVE
Fire-classified acrylic compound for VP/
plastic pipes and cables
Intumescent, coatable acrylic sealing compound
with good movement capacility. Approval is
available for sealing of individual cables in
concrete or plaster wall. Reactive is used as an
intumescent sealant in the ”Reactive Board
System” and in the ”Reactive Blanket System”.
Reactive is mainly intended to be used in the
different fire sealing applications indoors, for
instance, as an alternative to FireSeal’s
silicone-based fire sealing system.

Sealing foam for fire sealing
Non-elastic fast-hardening 2-componentfoam with
good compressive strength, classified for steelpipes
and ventilation ducts. Seals most of the building
materials and hardens regardless of the environment,
and lack of moisture in confined spaces. Can be
cut and painted. Fire Foam 2-K is a two-component
polyurethene foam that expands 120 % during
installation. The expansion and hardening occurs
regardless of the atmospheric humidity and is
therefore specifically suitable for confined spaces.
When the Fire Foam 2-k is completely set, it should
be light green in colour.

Flexible and elastic fire sealing of large and average openings that
withstand tough and aggressive conditions. The design-stable rock wool
board, thanks to its strong sandwich construction and silicone coating,

deforming, while the silicone compound is resistant to most aggressive
environments indoors and outdoors. Seal against the surrounding wall or

Intumescent fire insulation board
Fire-classified sealing for cables and pipes in case of a breakdown in fire
compartments, adapted for large and average free openings, and for dry
environments indoors. The system consists of a design-stable rock wool
board with an intumescent outer layer and a fire-classified silicone or
acrylic-based sealing compound with very good adhesion, elasticity and
strength even in demanding environments.

MAXI WRAP
Intumescent, flexible tape
Maxi Wrap is a flexible 30 meter band which mainly consists of an intumescent
graphite compound. The band is cut in desired length as per the
table and is adapted to the installation. When the temperature rises above
140° C, its intumescent body expands, and under the high pressure, locks
the collapsing plastic pipe effectively. Pipes above ø75 mm should have
double seals, while for pipes belowø75 mm, one seal is enough.
The approval concerns pipes made of PVC-U PVC-C, PE-HD, PE, ABS,
SAN+PVC, PP-R. To see the scope and connection to the EN standard, see

Intumescent and pree cut tape for embedment
The fire tape Wrap Around Seal (WAS) is used around plastic pipes of the type PVC,
PE and ABS etc. for water, drains, central vacuum cleaners and the like that pass
through the fire compartments within the building. The tape is easily embedded in
the existing building elements using concrete or similar products. The tape can
very well be used for copper and steel pipes along with Armaflex and bundled
cables.
Wrap Around Seal [WAS] consists of intumescent graphite strips that are protected
by a plastic covering. The plastic covering is equipped with a double-stick tape on
one end for easy assembly during the installation. When [WAS] is affected by fire
or temperatures above 120° C, its intumescent body expands quickly and locks the
collapsing plastic pipe effectively under high pressure.
INSTALLATION
The Wrap Around Seal is installed in a wall or floor structure. For installation in
lightweight wall, concrete etc., double Wap Around Seal is required. one mounted
on each side of the wall. For installation in concrete floor structures, a Wrap
Around Seal is installed only on the underside of the floor structure.
1. Determine the dimension on the basis of the diameter of the plastic pipe.
2. Install the Wrap Around Seal around the pipe and fix it to the other end, use the
double-stick tape.
3. Cast the opening again with concrete or the like.

SQUEEZER LOCK
Intumescent plastic pipe squeezer

The plastic pipe squeezer ”Squeezer Lock” is used around plastic pipes of
the type PVC, PE and ABS etc. for water, drains, central vacuum cleaners
and the like that pass through the fire compartments within the building.
Steel sleeve with open buckle for pipes and bundled cables. The inner side
is cladded with intumescent coating that immediately seals in the event of
fire. Extra practical for after-installation. Squeezer Lock can very well be
used for copper and steel pipes along with ArmaFlex and bundled cables.
Squeezer Lock 110 mm has approval for bundled cable.
When Squeezer Lock is activated by fire or temperatures above 120 C, its
intumescent body expands quickly and locks the collapsing plastic pipe
effectively under high pressure. To ensure tightness with respect to the
cold flue gases, the gap between the pipe and the wall/floor is sealed with
Reactive acrylic compound.
SQUEEZER COMPACT
Intumescent plastic pipe squeezer with low build height
EI 120
Ssqueezer Compact is installed easily around plastic pipes for water and drains,
and similar pipes that pass through the fire compartments within the building.
The plastic pipe squeezer is manufactured from a thin layer of galvanised steel
sleeve with an internal intumescent body of pressed graphite material. It is
openable and is manufactured with a low build height which considerably
simplifies installation. In the event of fire, the plastic pipe gets locked as the
graphite expands and prevents the passage of fire, smoke and gas. The clip is
fixed to the wall or floor by screwing it to the protruding steel brackets.
The approval concerns pipes made of PVC-U, PVC-C, PE-HD, PE, ABS, SAN+PVC,

Approved cable transit for smooth cabling and piping.
Fire Box is intended for fire sealing of cables, metal pipes and platic pipes, with
the fire class EI 60 to EI 180, depending on insulation and wall construction.
Firebox is designed to be installed in fire-resistant walls and floors for
passthrough cables and pipes. When heated, for instance, during a fire, the
internal graphite coating expands and seals effectively against the passage of
fire, gas and smoke.
The Fire Box consists of a thin-walled steel material, and contains an intumescent
graphite as well as a smoke/gas seal. In the event of fire, the foam
limits the passage of smoke and gas at every end of the box, while the
intumescent graphite in the middle expands to contain the fire integrity and insulation
performance for the floor or the wall.
The Fire Box is openable to provide an easy alternative for “retrofit” wherein the
cables or pipes are pre-installed. When the box is installed, it does not need any
further maintenance.
For installation, a metal frame is used to keep the box in place, a frame is
installed on each side. To ensure tightness with respect to the cold flue gases,
the gap between the box and the wall/floor is sealed with Reactive (FS400)
acrylic compound.

Kniparen is a very simple product to install. Penetration and fire sealing in one.
It is intended for sealing with the fire class EI 60 to EI 120 for different types of
cables and plastic pipes that penetrate the fire-classified walls.
Kniparen can very well be installed in the existing fire seals of different types.
When installing Kniparen, you do not need to know exactly which, or how many
cables need to be drawn, a simple estimate is enough. Changing cables or
supplementing with new is therefore very easy. Kniparen effectively seals even
when it is empty. The divisible Kniparen provides the possibility of fire sealing
cables even after they are laid.
Kniparen consists of a steel sleeve which is internally coated with a heat
expanding colour. When heated up, for instance during a fire, the internal
coating expands and seals effectively against the passage of fire, gas and
smoke.

• The supplied plastic cap is used as smoke and gas seal when the Kniparen is
mounted empty.

• The Kniparen must be mounted to its full length and cannot be cut off.

Fire putty for simple and smooth sealing of cables and pipes
FIRE PUTTY
Allround fire kit
FireSeal is now launching a revolutionary fire kit, which through its wide area
of application, simplifies fire sealing of the laid cables and pipes.
Fire Putty is intended for fire sealing with the fire class EI 60 to EI 120, for
cables and metal pipes and wall constructions. It can very well be used for
individual penetrations which require a simple and cost-effective solution. The
soft properties of the material provide a simple modification of the fire seal
which moreover facilitates removal of existing cables or installation of new.
Fire Putty is a silicone-based and non-hardening fire kit for cable and pipe
penetration. In the event of a fire, a blockade of fire-resistant filling material
is built up, which limits the passage of smoke and fire.
Fire Putty is listed in most environmental registers, which means that the
product is not classified as being hazardous to the environment and health.
The long sustainability period of a whole 2 years makes FireSeal Fire Putty a
product to have at hand, if required.

A quick and easy installation that is performed in the following steps
• Make sure that the area is clean and dry
• The installation temperature should be between 5°C and 40°C
• Prepare the kit manually and use fingers or tools to press the kit in the
opening around the cable or the pipe to a depth of minimum 2 cm.
• Repeat the procedure on the opposite side.

Eaves band
FireSeal’s Fire Barrier is a simple and effective fire seal for eaves and cavities
in facades, which counteracts the spread of fire and can also be used in areas
where a ventilated air gap is required. Other uses of a similar nature where
free ventilation is desired, but should be closed in the event of fire.
Installing the band is a simple and quick process which in the end provides a
very cost-effective solution. The product is stapled, screwed or nailed directly
to the surface of the air gap and then allowed to expand.
The eaves band mainly consists of an intumescent graphite compound that
expands considerably even at low temperatures. The graphite band expands to
about 25 times its own thickness and can easily withstand unevenness in the
air gap. The FireSeal eaves band is approved to be installed in openings of up
to 50 mm.
The fire resistance is up to 60 minutes’ insulation and integrity in the event of
fire. For correct installation, only 4 fixing points per metre are required.
Several choices are available to facilitate the installation, attachment,
screwing or nailing the eaves band along the middle of the top plate with a
distance of maximum 250 mm, between each mounting bracket and maximum
125 mm from the edges
Fire Barrier is third party tested by an accredited testing laboratory for use in

Roll out the Fire Barrier between the roof trusses.
FireSeal’s Fire Barrier for the eaves and facade is delivered in the form of a 6.3
m roll and is cut to the right length with a knife.
Cut the Fire Barrier to a suitable length The band should be placed narrowly
between the roof trusses. Attach, screw or nail the fire stop with 4 mounting
brackets per metre

Fire seal for ventilated eaves
EAVES VENTILATION, A COMMON FIRE SPREAD
The basic thing about fire protection in Sweden is that it takes about 60 minutes for a fire to spread between 2 residences. For instance, in a rowhouse with
faults in fire protection, the fire can spread more quickly. The most common is the spread of fire through the attic.
Often there is an eave designed to ventilate the attic in the row house, i.e. a ventilation opening for the attic between the roof and the outer walls If this is the
case, it is possible for a fire to spread up to the attic through the eave, and thereby completely pass through the separation in the attic floor. Thereafter, the fire
can quickly spread through the attic area throughout the row house length, if there are no separation walls built in the right manner.
Leaving the void open for free air circulation is a construction criteria for many buildings and this type of seal. The voids within which this type of seal is
installed are designed to be open and thereby ventilated. When the fire seal has reacted, the openings will be closed. The integrity criteria, as per the fire
standard, are applied only after the seal has reacted.
Fire Barrier is a passive fire protection product that is expressly fire tested in several applications and relevant European standards. A number of individual fire
tests have been implemented and all tests have reflected the real application to a large extent possible.

FIRE SEAL INSTALLER
The FireSeal courses on fire sealing give you all the knowledge and training required
to get started and master the implementations After completing the training, you
become a certified FireSeal installer. Register on fireseal.se/utbildning! Book and

The course starts with a theoretical overview of the rules and laws, risks,
responsibilities and how the different product types should be used.
The participants get to train, and familiarise themselves
with installations of different systems. The installations
are checked and assessed by the course leader.
All participants complete a compulsory test to ensure that
they have received the required knowledge
