Crazy for You a runaway success!
The talented students at Joeys sure
know how to put on a great show! The
production of Crazy For You, which ran
for five nights at the end of May, played
to packed houses every night and left
audiences cheering for more.
Tickets to the production sold out early,
and those lucky enough to get a seat
were treated to an extravaganza of
characterisation, singing and dancing by
the talented cast. Lead parts were taken
by James Doherty (Y12), Michael Yore
(Y12), Mathew Rope (Y11), James Saber
(Y11), and William Burke (Y11). Featured
actors included Bradley Josephs (Y12),
Patrick Reuter-Town (Y11), Mark Crotti
(Y10), and Samuel Tynan-Davey (Y10).
The stage crew were ably led by Lachlan
Tate (Y12), with Christopher Lucas (Y12)
working on lighting.
Director/Choreographer and Drama
Coordinator, Mr Roger Wise, said the
college’s production of Crazy For You
was in the nature of an experiment. “We
wanted to see if we could successfully

stage a chamber version of
this huge Broadway
musical in the intimate
confines of our Drama
Theatre,” he said.
This decision had its
positives and negatives - it
meant a reduction in the
numbers of performers,
both onstage and in the
orchestra pit, and a
serious challenge in terms
of limited backstage space
and the ability to change
scenes. However, it also
brought the performers
really close to the audience, and it
meant there was no need for costly
sound system.”
“We believe our experiment was a great
success, with our production capturing
the enthusiasm, energy and sense of fun
of a full-scale version of Crazy For You.”
Crazy For You was a co-production of the
Michael Yore (Y12, Bela Zangler) and James
Doherty (Y12, Bobby Child) open the show.

Music and Drama Departments and,
with scene design work by Miss Debra
Phillips and Mr Peter Ross, the show
highlighted the wealth of talent in the
Creative Arts at Joeys.

for the Drama
Theatre?
Don’t miss the Year 11 Drama
production for 2008 – Scenes from
Of Mice and Men and The Merchant
of Venice. The cast features Marcus
Carbone, Domenic Mussolino,
Mathew Rope, William Burke and
Edward Russell.
The production will run in the Drama
Theatre from 5 - 8 August, starting
