Letter from

the Editor

Issue #4 can really be summed up

in 2 words...

Diversity and Equality

At Turning Point these words

stand side by side... hand in hand...

DIVERSITY - a range of different things.

EQUALITY - the state of being equal, especially in status, rights, or opportunities.

WOW! Issue #4 featured models, you blow my mind!!!

I love how each issue is growing in momentum!

What started as a platform to give Turning Point trained models an editorial experience and promote

them in their chosen career path has amazingly, in just 4 issues, become a celebration of all women. This

is what Turning Point strives to be, a community of inclusion - if you have a dream or an ambition we are

here to help you achieve that.

I love this issue and it's diversity, it is a celebration of ALL WOMEN, we are ONE, we are PROUD, we are

BEAUTIFUL, we are DIVERSE, we are EQUAL!!!

Be proud of who your are, learn to love ALL that makes you unique and diverse and then respect and

appreciate this in others. You are all valued and appreciated far more than what you know.

Turning Point is here for you, we are inclusive, we are all equal.

I hope you enjoy this issue as much as I do.

With love always

Cover Model

Yumna Ali

Those who love fantasy tales would be great admirers of the works of Yumna Ali, after all,

her own life has not been any less then one.

Yumna’s natural looks are a storyteller themselves. As a beautiful addition to this gift of

God, she is also an artist, who becomes an intrinsic addiction to her audiences with only at

a slight glance.

Born in Tauranga, New Zealand, Yumna is the youngest child of her Fijian-Indian parents

who had migrated to New Zealand in search of a better life for their children.

In the late 1990's the family moved yet again, this time to Australia. As a Kiwi Child, Yumna

took her love of Rugby with her to Australia and became a passionate supporter of

Brisbane Broncos after arriving in the country.

Being of Indian ethnicity, Yumna also had great love for the Bollywood Movies. She

watched a range of Bollywood movies growing up and idolized famous actress Kareena

Kapoor (Khan) as her favorite.

Little did she ever think that the year Kareena Kapoor got invited to Australia to attend a

variety of high profile events, including unveiling of T20 Cricket World Cup 2020 Trophies at

MCG, she (Yumna) would get a call from the organizer's of that event and ask her to be the

“Official Host/Model” for the visiting VIP Guest and her favorite movie star of all time. It was

a dream come true for Yumna. This was her arrival in mainstream Bollywood.

In the few years preceding this, Yumna got her first break as a Music Video model, in 2018,

featuring alongside popular Punjabi Singer “Deep Dhaliwal” in a song shot in Melbourne

Australia. Within a span of another 15 months, Yumna had already featured in another 5

Indian/Punjabi Music Videos which were all Big Hits In Australia and also back in India.

Ever since Yumna’s arrival in the mainstream Bollywood scene, she has also featured along

side India’s No.1 “Dj Aqeel” at an Xmas Party in Melbourne in Dec 2019 and also was the

head model for the tour of “Bally Sagoo” a Billboards Chart (UK) Artist who has also had the

legacy of performing alongside (Late) Michael Jackson when he toured India few decades

ago.

For her education, Yumna holds a variety of qualifications in Beauty Services, Culinary,

Child Services and Allied Health Assistance, thus making her knowledge skillset quite

diverse.

She frequently travels cross-country and documents these travels in an upcoming book

she wishes to release soon. Painting and sketching are one of her favourite hobbies and a

lot her writing generally includes a variety of natural imagery depicting nature.

Being a passionate nature lover, Yumna’s life time dream is to travel to Switzerland and

sketch the famous Swiss Alps in her own hand-designed painting.

In the coming years Yumna wishes to support the beautiful cause of Women

Empowerment and hopes that one day she can bring about a tangible change in this

sector, not necessarily one that brings her own name in the history books, but would

definitely wishes to see the cause bring about an overwhelming change for the cause of

Women Rights.

My Name is Chiara Saffioti and I am 20 years old. I am an Italian Model and Miss Milan, now based in LA,

“Believe it or not, I was considered chubby when I was younger. Through exercising and eating healthy

over a couple of years, I completely changed my body and that turned out to be the best decision of my

life.

I entered and won Miss Milan, this was my first time on the Miss Italy catwalk. I have to say I was pretty

lucky to win such a great title in my first pageant!

I was already modelling, but my biggest dream is to become an actress, that is why I moved to LA by

myself, straight after finishing High School.

It has almost been a year since my big move, I am working hard and training to develop my skills and I

am ready for the opportunities the future will bring.

And who knows? They say that sometimes, dreams come true.”

DIVERSITY

with

Miss Five Crowns NZ

The Miss Five Crowns beauty pageant works very hard on including all cultural

backgrounds. They aim to stand united rather than divided. The pageant is proud to have a

title and crown, especially for this reason. The Cultural Diversity Queen Title has been

created to educate and celebrate the diverse cultures we have in New Zealand. Whoever

the finalist is that takes out the Cultural Diversity Queen title, has an opportunity to share

as much knowledge as she can with the rest of the pageant family and community about

her heritage. “We become richer in wisdom when we open ourselves up to all cultural

beliefs of the world. New Zealand is very diverse and we are very transient people who love

to travel and learn through travel,” says Miss Five Crowns NZ Director Pam Cummings.

The Miss Five Crowns Cultural Diversity Queen is about bringing nationalities together in a

unique way, like Chinese New Year, Diwali Festivities, Matariki Maori New Year, St Patrick's

Day and so forth. Each year the finalists get a chance to experience the feelings and the

social environment of various events as well as participating in cultural activities from a

different perspective.

Beauty pageants is one of the many events that has become internationally renowned for

cultural diversity. Almost all pageants have a category named International costume, where

the pageant delegate must wear a costume of their choice which represents something

unique from the country they are representing. This category can really mark new

milestones each year with the creative flair of many international designers. It has almost

become a competition in itself within the designer arena of pageantry.

Miss Five Crowns NZ has had the privilege of sending many of their title winners to

international pageants where they have the opportunity to design, and wear a national

costume that represents New Zealand in some way. From the Geo-thermal area of Lake

Taupo to the colours of our nations flag, every pageant representative chooses a theme

that suits not only the country, but also the wearer.

Miss five Crowns is proud to be part of an industry where diversity is and will always be a

growing platform and gives all contestants and supporters a reason to celebrate their

cultural patronage.

Location: Amalfi Coast Italy

My name is Bridie Lancaster-Butcher, I am 14 years old from Christchurch, New

Zealand. I love modelling - the fashion, hair, makeup, the catwalks, photo shoots and

travelling the world when we can. Last year I was very excited to be part of the Fashion

Passport Family travelling to Amalfi Coast Italy. It was such an awesome experience,

I met some truly wonderful people. I also have recently been lucky enough to grace a

billboard in Time Square 2020 New York Fashion week.

I love playing soccer for my local club. I enjoy athletics and running in the cross country

for my school. My mum and I also donate our spare time and volunteer for the Heart

Foundation. The Heart Foundation is the leading killer in New Zealand, this is very

important to us, as we have heart disease in our family.

My dream is to one day grace the runways of New York, London, Paris Fashion Weeks.

Kacey Crowley

Age: 23 years

PC: Glen Cook

My name is Kacey Crowley,

originally from Alice Springs,

Northern Territory. I relocated

to Melbourne in 2018 to

pursue a career in modelling.

I am a 6'2 plus size body

positive 23 year old, that

believes in equality in the

modelling industry. Everybody

is different and every body

should be celebrated. It

shouldn't matter what others

think about what size you are

and what is wrong and right

when it comes to their body.

It affects young people now

more than ever, especially in

magazines, TV and especially

on Social Media.

I want to be someone that

breaks the stereotype of

being a size zero with a

flawless body, for people to

look up to and to know that

you don't need to be a certain

size or have a perfect body to

be beautiful. Every person is

beautiful and not everyone is

perfect. You are unique in

your own way and should love

the person you are and the

body you were born in.

JADE PARSONS

AGE: 17 YRS

PC:LISA TAYLIOR PHOTOGRAPHY

My name is Jade Parsons and I am 17 years old. I am a year 13 student, at New

Plymouth Girls High School in Taranaki. I have been a dancer since I was very young

and I am currently working at Emmanuel Ballet Academy as a jazz, contemporary and

tap teacher along with teaching private lessons for competition students. In April 2019,

I did a holiday modelling course with Turning Point Models and from there, undertook

my very first pageant, Miss Five Crowns New Zealand. Both modelling and pageantry

have taught me so much. My confidence has grown, and the philosophy of MFCNZ, of

empowering young women, and aiming for higher self-esteem now rings very true.

I was lucky enough to be crowned one of the five regional winners along with four

other beautiful queens in the pageant and was a truly magical night to remember. For

me, my journey into pageantry and modelling has only just begun. I have been ever so

lucky to have three amazing photo shoots with the very talented Lisa Taylor

Photography, and another one in the pipeline very soon.

Looking to the future, I am planning to head off to university next year to study

Psychology and look forward to continuing with modelling and where my journey takes

me. Many thanks to Bridget Herlihy from Turning Point Models, Pam Cummings from

Miss Five Crowns New Zealand and Lisa Taylor for all you have taught me, and be sure

to watch this space for what is to come!

friends that have helped and supported me through

the good and the bad. I am a loyal friend, because to

the gym, do some art, or maybe go for a relaxing walk

listening to my favorite music.

BABY, IT'S COLD OUTSIDE!

A Turning Point Urban Winter Shoot

Models: Heidi and Kaelynn

Photographer: L:isa Taylor

Brrr! The weather outside is frightful - this can put a stop to the gorgeous outdoor photoshoots we are used to in

the summer months! But that doesn't mean you need to stop enjoying the fun of a photoshoot. In New Zealand,

we are so blessed to have perfect shoot locations right outside our door - no matter what part of the country we

live in!

In winter it is a battle to force ourselves out in the cold to pose for the camera. But winter shoots are amazing..

the natural light - an amazing filter, the scenery - an icy, wet wonderland, the fashion - well what else can I say?

Winter is my favourite fashion season.

I really wanted a winter styled shoot for this issue... something that goes with the season and truly speaks winter!

I spied these to besties on Instagram, teamed them up with one of our favourite photographers and the three of

them brought my ideal shoot to life!

It was a wet, windy Saturday morning but these models handled it like pros, posing down on the New Plymouth

coastal walkway. Lisa Taylor Photography chose a fab location with cover from the rain but still giving the

urban/grunge,/street vibe I was after!

Winter is a time when our wardrobe accessories really come into play, mix up your daily outfit with hats, scarves,

gloves, jackets, boots... 1 pair of jeans and long sleeve top can be changed up and worn in so many ways! I love

the models use of hats and jackets in this shoot to change up their look.

I would love to see your winter fashion images! Time to grab out those accessories and bring your clothing to life

and create a look that is unique to you! Feel free to send us the image with a description and your look may just

pop up on our social media!
