DIVERSITYwithMiss Five Crowns NZThe Miss Five Crowns beauty pageant works very hard on including all culturalbackgrounds. They aim to stand united rather than divided. The pageant is proud to have atitle and crown, especially for this reason. The Cultural Diversity Queen Title has beencreated to educate and celebrate the diverse cultures we have in New Zealand. Whoeverthe finalist is that takes out the Cultural Diversity Queen title, has an opportunity to shareas much knowledge as she can with the rest of the pageant family and community abouther heritage. “We become richer in wisdom when we open ourselves up to all culturalbeliefs of the world. New Zealand is very diverse and we are very transient people who loveto travel and learn through travel,” says Miss Five Crowns NZ Director Pam Cummings.The Miss Five Crowns Cultural Diversity Queen is about bringing nationalities together in aunique way, like Chinese New Year, Diwali Festivities, Matariki Maori New Year, St Patrick'sDay and so forth. Each year the finalists get a chance to experience the feelings and thesocial environment of various events as well as participating in cultural activities from adifferent perspective.Beauty pageants is one of the many events that has become internationally renowned forcultural diversity. Almost all pageants have a category named International costume, wherethe pageant delegate must wear a costume of their choice which represents somethingunique from the country they are representing. This category can really mark newmilestones each year with the creative flair of many international designers. It has almostbecome a competition in itself within the designer arena of pageantry.Miss Five Crowns NZ has had the privilege of sending many of their title winners tointernational pageants where they have the opportunity to design, and wear a nationalcostume that represents New Zealand in some way. From the Geo-thermal area of LakeTaupo to the colours of our nations flag, every pageant representative chooses a themethat suits not only the country, but also the wearer.Miss five Crowns is proud to be part of an industry where diversity is and will always be agrowing platform and gives all contestants and supporters a reason to celebrate theircultural patronage.
