NOA Annual Convention to Be Held
in Marco Island, Florida
Members of the National Onion Association
(NOA) will meet Dec. 3-6 as the Marriott Marco
Island Resort & Spa in Marco Island, Fla., for
their annual convention.
Topics of interest include industry trends,
opportunities and stresses along with a promotion
program update. Two educational speakers,
specialists in their respective fields, will share
their knowledge on pest management policy
and contemporary food, nutrition and cuisine
development.
Guests attending the ag tour will see a unique
combination of Florida winter agriculture and the
Everglades. Participants will board airboats for a
narrated excursion of the Everglades.
The following is the tentative schedule:
Wednesday, Dec. 3: Registration and opening
social.
Thursday, Dec. 4: Registration, committee
meetings at 8:30 a.m. (Promotion Committee
meets at 8 a.m.), followed by the Trustee Meeting.
Members are welcome to come and listen
as business reports given by the various NOA
committees.
Also on Thursday morning is an interactive
culinary demonstration for family and friends
not involved in the regular committee meetings.
This unique opportunity includes a taste-andlearn
session along with two demonstrations.
Following lunch at noon, all are invited to the
educational session. Industry trends, opportunities
and stresses will be part of the wide spectrum
of industry topics and business discussed. An
update on the NOA’s promotional program will
also take place.
A casual, Key West inspired cookout will take
place that evening along the sandy white beach
of the Gulf of Mexico.
Friday, Dec. 5: Get geared up for a unique
combination of Florida’s winter agriculture and
narrated airboat excursions through the Everglades.
Later that evening, the traditional closing
banquet reception and dinner will take place.
Saturday, Dec. 6: The annual meeting winds
up with a closing breakfast and crop report.
Delegates will report on the size and quality of
this year’s fall storage crop. Those interested in
a round of golf are also welcome to participate.
Tee time is 1 p.m. and reservations must be made
in advance.
