Itdeals with some of the most topical itemsof the day and the odd item where theCouncil want to share information withthe Town.CORONAVIRUS – (COVID-19) Getting backto NormalOver the last month we have welcomed there-opening of facilities, shops, businessesand services that have been closed duringthe lockdown period. Most of these stillhave restrictions on how they operate andwe must all continue to be aware of socialdistancing measures set out in governmentguidelines, but they are a welcome signthat we are on our way to returning tonormal.Open Spaces - Our outside team havecontinued to work during most of thelock down period keeping public spacesopen and safe for people to exercise. Wehave now been able to open the skatepark, fitness equipment and MUGA at theRecreation Ground. At the time of writingthis the play areas remain closed, pleasedo not use these areas or remove the signsstating that they are closed.will be phasing our return to working inthe office, and putting in place measuresso that we can open the office safely tothe public.Saturday Market - Our phased returnof the Saturday general market tradersis almost complete and we have hadenquiries for new stalls who would like tocome along. They will be allowed onto themarket as soon as we are confident thatthis can be managed, keeping everyoneas safe as possible. Again, at the time ofwriting our auction has not returned butwe hope it won’t be long before that ispossible.Allotments – Our allotments have provedvery popular at the moment, they are agreat way of getting exercise outside inthe fresh air. If you think a plot is too largeperhaps consider sharing with a friendor relative. If you would like to enquireabout renting an allotment please contactus, we do have a few plots available onShouldham Lane.SWAFFHAM COVID GARDEN COMPETITION- Has your garden been your place of safetyand consolation in this very strange time?Is it looking fabulous?
