Lebanon and JordanAfter eight years of conflict, the effects of the Syrian refugee crisis continue totake a significant toll on both Jordan and Lebanon’s most vulnerable familiesand communities. With an eye toward moving people away from passive aidand harmful coping strategies, and toward self-reliance, NEF remains committedto helping refugees, Jordanians and Lebanese access safe and dignifiedopportunities to start businesses, secure employment, access financial resourcesand earn a stable income.Ahlam, JordanConvenience Store Owner“The training helped with bookkeepingand accounting, but Ialso learned I could change mylife. In Lebanon,NEF will expand its sustainable livelihoods programs to Tripoli, an urban area withhigh concentrations of poverty and upwards of half-a-million refugees.And in Jordan, NEF started implementing a revolving credit fund, accessible toentrepreneurs who would otherwise be unable to meet the traditional lendingrequirements of commercial banks. It will allow entrepreneurs with high growthpotential to access the funds needed to expand or update their businessoperations.06
