THE BACKGROUND

The Directors, Leanne Linacre and

Victoria Bligh, established LILA* in

2004 as an independent English

language school welcoming over

2000 international students each

year to study English.

LILA* was very

accommodating

to my 16

year old. The

course really

helped both his

English and his

confidence and

he very much

enjoyed his time

there.

THE PURPOSE

LILA* provides bespoke alternative

provision from its inspiring school

in Liverpool city centre, meeting

a growing need for high quality

alternative provision with an

English as an Additional Language

(EAL) specialism in the Liverpool

city region.

We work with an experienced

practitioner to instill a restorative

practice philosophy throughout

the school where our primary

motivators are those of

cooperation, collaboration,

taking responsibility and being

accountable. We

believe that a school

environment built on

a restorative practice

ethos allows pupils

and staff alike to feel

valued, listened to and

engaged.

It is our vision that

all of our pupils ‘love

to learn’ regardless

of background or

previous experiences in

education settings.

LILA* is accredited by the British

Council, AQA and Cambridge

English Assessment to deliver

a wide range of courses. LILA*

has won several awards for

quality and customer service

and the Directors were awarded

Merseyside Women of the Year

2013 in the education category for

their contribution to education in

the city.

The team at LILA* has been

delivering support for pupils with

English as an Additional Language

and training for teachers and TAs

in schools across Sefton for 15

years. Originally contracted by

Sefton Complimentary Education

the provision has since evolved

and support and training is

funded directly by schools.
