Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim.
Alhamdulillah, it has been one very gratifying year to serve you as the president of
Brunei Hall Student’s Committee. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here albeit all the
trials and tribulations that comes with it. If I were to summarise this year in one word to
describe this experience, it would be memorable.
This book culminates snippets of events conducted this year, ranging from fun activities
such as our inaugural ice-breaking activity and annual gift-exchange session to National
celebrations including Teacher’s Day, Maulud Nabi and National Day. We also had the
opportunity to celebrate the retirement of the longest serving member of UPP, Haji Joe
Dowd. I congratulate the members of BHSC and certainly all of you that make these
events successful. Not to forget, special thanks to Ruzana/Media committee for the hard
work in compiling and making this magazine a reality.
Our time together was cut short following the global pandemic and 2020 has been a
challenging year for all of us. I urge you to always remember the present year not for
the struggle and adversity; but rather, as growth and lessons. If this year has taught me
anything, it is to appreciate what we have and always be grateful in our daily lives. As we
embark on the next chapter of our lives, let us reminisce all the hardships and pitfalls as
propulsion for our personal growth. To the class of 2020, I congratulate all of you on
your achievements and although we may not see each other everyday again, our paths
will cross, and I pray the bond we made will last until Jannah Insyaallah.
Finally, I want to thank all of you for making this past year the most remarkable year I
have had in Brunei Hall. It was a fulfilling year with loads of fun and laughter, and to
share them with all of you I could not imagine it being any other way. I pray that the
friendship we made will continue to prosper beyond our lives in London and I hope to
see you guys soon. In the words of Haji Jo, it's not a goodbye it's a see you later. Until
then, stay safe, selamat tinggal dan terima kasih sangat-sangat!
