The definition of the term

‘injury’ contained in Section 5 of

the Workers Compensation and

Injury Management Act 1981

includes a disease.

It states,

“Injury means…. a disease

employment was a contributing

factor and contributed to a

You can lodge worker’s

compensation claim for COVID –

19, the insurer requires the

following:

diagnosis

• Confirmation that you are a

‘worker’ within the meaning of

the Workers Compensation and

Rehabilitation Act 2003

• Carry a proof of diagnosis of

COVID-19

• Evidence that the exposure to

COVID-19 occurred in the work

environment;

• A proof that the work exposure

was a significant contributing

factor to the COVID-19 diagnosis.
