#ONEBIXBYSince 1947, the Bixby Metro Chamber has been thekey organization for businesses in the Bixby area.Our mission is to offer a wide variety of programsand services that stimulate economic growth andspearhead initiatives that help grow the Bixbycommunity.We accomplish our missionby helping to:1) Create a Better Communitythrough advocacy, relationshipbuilding and events;2) Build Stronger Businessesthrough visibility, connections andmarketing; and3) Personal Developmentthrough leadership development,education and committee involvement.While a typical year for the Chamber includesbusiness and community events, educationopportunities and multiple publications, 2020has proven to be a year of change for all of us.The COVID-19 pandemic pushed the need fora local business network to the forefront. TheChamber’s goal during the height of the pandemicresponse was, and into the future is, to be a keydisseminator of information for our businesses andour community. Keeping business owners educatedon guidelines for safety, federal, state, and localchanges and rules that affect their operations, andproviding an avenue for our citizens to know thatour businesses are open and active is a small partof what the Chamber does on a daily basis, and wehope that our Partner businesses and beyond wereable to benefit from these services. Making sureall businesses continue to have access to funding,balance the need for additional safety protocolsBIXBY LIVING 12while protecting the ability to do business, andaiding with needed marketing and network buildingwill continue to be top priorities for the Chamber.In 2019 we announced the creation of the BixbyDevelopment Foundation, a 501(c)3 entity thatwill focus on the long-term success of the Bixbyarea. One piece of the strategy for the Foundationwas a location that can support our current andfuture entrepreneurs, and in January of this yearwe officially unveiled plans for a future buildingin partnership with the City of Bixby. Our goal forthis space is both private and shared workspace forentrepreneurs, space for business and educationevents, conference room space and space forvirtual meetings. We want this building to be asource of community pride and fill a need for ourstart-ups and early stage companies with accessiblespace, mentoring, and resources needed to growtheir business.We don’t know what the future holds. The floodingevent of May 2019 showed us all what ourcommunity is - #OneBixby. The challenges of 2020have proven that the spirit that makes Bixby sucha wonderful community was not a one-time eventbut an ongoing, underlying thread that shows upconsistently. The support of our locally owned andsmall businesses has been inspiring – the ways thatour business community and service organizationshave stepped up to re-enforce their love for our city– and the way we have all worked together duringa time of challenge proves this.We are proud to serve Bixby, and here for anythingthat may be needed.
