Dear Parents and Friends,
I am pleased to present to you the 2018-2019 Annual Report for St.
Joseph Catholic School. Within these pages you will see a glimpse of the
things that make our school such a vibrant, unique community.
At the heart of all that we do is our Catholic religion. Our primary goal
each year is to teach our students to form a loving relationship with our
gracious God. We want our students to experience that deep satisfaction
when they take time to speak with and listen to our God. We also take
that next step, and ask them to live out their faith, as well. Actions such as
kindness, compassion, lending a helping hand and positive comments are
all actions that our students regularly display.
We have high expectation for our students in their academic subjects, as
well. Students learn not only basic material, but they are also taught higher
level thinking skills. We do this purposefully; we prepare our students with
a fund of knowledge, and we teach them how to think through a problem.
We do all this each day so that when our students leave our doors, they are
prepared for their future!
We are blessed; we are a community where we actively teach our faith to
our students. We are a community where it is the norm to show compassion
for another person. We are a community which sets high standards for
our students. We are, St. Joseph Catholic School.
Thank you for your continued support of our school. Your generous
donations to the school continue to allow us to provide a top-notch Catholic
education to our students. Thank you!
Know that the Lord is God. It is he that made us and we are his;
we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Psalm 100:3
Regards,
Patricia Allen, Ph.D.
Principal
2018-2019
Employee of the year
Molly Mitchell,
Second-grade teacher
2018-2019 SJCS Employee
of the Year as well as
winning “Best Teacher”
for Cobb County. She is
very service minded, kind,
dedicated, passionate, very
positive, and creative just to
name a few of her qualities.
She loves her students, and the students love her.
She is a blessing for SJCS.
2018-2019
Volunteer of the year
Michele Austin
Michele, is a very dependable
and compassionate
person who always brings
a lot of fun, energy and
humor to everything she
does. You can always count
on Michele to step up and
help out with any committee
or person in need. She is probably the most
passionate person about St. Joseph School.
She is well loved by all. Earning the volunteer
of the year award is very deserving!

DUKE TIP
The Duke University Talent Identification Program is open to 4th, 5th
and 6th Grade students scoring in 95th percentile or above on one of
the qualifying ITBS subtests. 7th Grade students scoring in this percentile
are eligible to take the SAT or ACT test through Duke. Not all
students who qualified chose to register with Duke TIP, but we would
like to recognize those students who did register and congratulate
them on their accomplishments.

GRACE SCHOLARS
GRACE Scholars is a student scholarship organization (SSO)
established by the Archdiocese providing tuition assistance
to families with financial need. Donors can designate specific
schools – like St. Joseph Catholic School – to receive their donation.
A taxpayer in Georgia can “use” part of his Georgia income
tax to provide scholarships for students entering Catholic Schools
in Georgia. This occurs because the taxpayer receives a 100%
tax credit against his GA tax liability for the amount donated to
GRACE Scholars. Therefore, money that was going to pay taxes is
supporting Catholic education for those in need.
GRANDPARENT LEND-A-HAND
As part of the Annual Fund,
the Grandparent Lend-A-Hand
Campaign has become an
essential part of our fundraising
efforts. Established in 2010,
this important fund has raised
money to improve the school
Media Center and add
technology upgrades to our
school. Thank you Grandparents
for your unending support of
our school.
SILENT AUCTION & GALA
Each winter, SJCS hosts an
Annual Silent Auction & Gala.
Fun and creative themes have
included Speakeasy Soiree, Blue
Ribbon Award, Back to the 80’s
and in 2019; we celebrated our
Pirates and Parrots - A Night
in Key West. Attendees bid on
thousands of dollars in donated
products, vacations, and services,
in addition to the popular SJCS exclusives like Carpool Queen
and the beloved classroom creations! Attendees take part in the
lively Paddle Call, where donations are directed towards upgrading
technology in the classrooms to include 6 interactive panels, 18
coding Ozbotz, whereas auction proceeds are directed to future
capital improvements. Thank you to the committee volunteers,
sponsors, and attendees for your continued support of this
fun-filled fundraising event.
