Anya is Russian here and Russian there!
A pupil at the Prep School has made
marathon strides – raising more than £200 for
charity at the same time!
Anya Livtchak, 11, has been following in the
footsteps of her marathon-running father,
recruitment consultant Serguey Livtchak,
and taken part in two junior marathons
already this year.
The first – a 1.5 kilometre run around the
streets of Hastings – raised more than £100
for Guide Dogs for the Blind. The second, a 3
kilometre, through Edinburgh’s Holyrood
Park, proved a little more challenging as it
involved running off-road and running partway
up Arthur’s Seat, the highest point in
Edinburgh!
Anya, who is still selling stickers to her
friends and family to supplement a further
£100 raised for Guide Dogs for the Blind in
this second marathon, was one of the
youngest competitors in the race, aimed at
11-16 year olds, and still came 50th out of the
75 runners who took part.
Russian-born Mr Livtchak said: “I took up
marathon running a couple of years ago and
Anya started running with me earlier this
year. She really enjoys taking part and loves
chatting to people along the way and making
new friends. I’m not sure the competitive
spirit has really kicked in yet though!”
As well as being a keen runner, Anya is also
a talented musician. She sings in the Prep
School choir and plays in the school
orchestra, having obtained Grade V (GCSE
standard) in violin and recorder. She is also
about to take her Grade V flute exams.
Richard Johnson, Head said, “Anya is an
active and talented member of the Prep
School but running up a mountain is
probably a first among our pupils!
It’s also a credit to her that she has shown
such generosity of spirit by deciding to use
her talents to raise money for charity in this
way.”
