PROJECTΔ-Ω

timeline of events

DNA RESEARCH

Shortly after Francis Crick’s controversial presentation on the relationship between DNA, RNA, proteins, and the

“adaptor hypothesis,” an international forum is assembled between scientific delegates from Russia, Japan, Saudi

Arabia, and the United States. Its purpose is to test the function, limits, and adaptability of genetic material. To avoid

bias, the delegates are given a set time period of five years to work independently in whatever capacity or direction

they see fit, after which time the forum is scheduled to reconvene to compare notes.

PROJECT Δ-Ω

2

The forum reconvenes in a classified, secure location in Switzerland.

The conference lasts five months, during which time none of the

attendees are allowed to leave the premises, or make any contact

with the outside world. Their findings are deemed too hazardous

to publish. The studies are found to have scientific merit and great

potential for furthering our understanding of life, and should therefore

be continued, without any military or government interference.

It is feared the results could be weaponized or used for monetary

gain. The forum drafts a ten-page manifesto and mission statement

and adopts a new name which is meant to signify the study’s

purpose: to pursue genetic change to its limits. Project Δ-Ω is born.

THE FIRST FACILITY

A sunny day in late August marks the opening of the first official facility in the Ukrainian SSR.

IN JEOPARDY

Due to a clerical oversight, an unsanctioned large shipment of supplies arrives at the facility,

attracting attention from Ukraine’s military and environmental agencies, placing Project Δ-Ω in

jeopardy of being suspended.

1977

CHERNOBYL

An unexpected power surge, and a subsequent spike in power output leads to the

rupture of a reactor vessel in the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, causing the worst

nuclear disaster in history to date. Hushed conspiracy theories suggest the meltdown

might not have been an accident at all. The claims are never confirmed, and the theorists

disappear without a trace some weeks later.

THE INCEPTION OF WOLFEN

The first genetically-engineered hybrid is hatched under artificial conditions. Dubbed “Wolfen”

for its unique, half human and half animal attributes, the specimen does not survive.

3

UNDERGROUND DEN

The Chernobyl Den officially opens for production thirteen stories beneath the site of the meltdown.

GENETIC VARIATIONS

Changes in biological and behavioral traits begin to present among the

subjects and lead to further studies into their individual genetic makeup

to identify the source of the differences, and the reason why they seem

to be absent at time of hatching.

1989

2003

1988

SUBSPECIES IDENTIFIED

Medical teams identify three distinct subspecies among the subjects and document extensive notes

and statistics about them. No known cause for the differences is found. The most violent of subgroups

becomes too hazardous to remain with the general population of subjects. A separate holding wing is

built to contain them, and further experiments are ordered to better map individual DNA anomalies.

THE FIRST SUCCESS

4

The first viable hybrid specimen is hatched. Later that same year, a litter of

sixteen new specimens is successfully created and the Chernobyl Den undergoes

an extensive expansion and upgrade.

FUKUSHIMA DEN

Differences of opinion and the inability to agree on

proper operating procedure–namely the protocol

of neutralizing subjects when matured–lead to the

Japanese team members splitting off to continue

the study independently. Following established protocols,

a new den is built underneath the site of the

Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster site.

2012

A DEN OF WOLVES

Due to their underground location and the nature of experiments

being performed in them, Project Δ-Ω facilities

were codenamed “dens.” Only the original dens in Pripyat

and Fukushima were fully sanctioned and overseen by the

directory council. However, as scientists exited the project

throughout its lifetime, rumors arose of rogue, unsanctioned

dens being constructed around the world. Red pins on the

map below mark confirmed den locations. Yellow pins mark

unconfirmed, suspected locations of rogue dens.

2011

MILITARY INVOLVEMENT

Unspecified military involvement leads to the protocol being

rewritten to allow a set number of subjects to be sustained

beyond maturation if they meet certain safety and obedience

standards. The Chernobyl Den is reformed to accommodate

this change and a highly trained team of privately

funded soldiers is assigned to safeguard mature subjects.

5

CONTAINMENT FAILURE

The Fukushima Den convert containment units fail. All personnel and any viable specimens are evacuated back to Chernobyl Den, and the Japanese

facility is buried. Shortly thereafter, converts overwhelm Chernobyl Den. Due to a technical malfunction, the den’s self-destruct sequence never

activates. Converts breach the perimeter and surface to overwhelm Europe. The surviving team members relocate to a military facility in California

while a new Den is under construction in Montana. Outside of stable laboratory conditions, specimens mature faster than expected. Some of the

inert subjects undergo conversion and escape from the base. Military units are dispatched to eliminate them, but at least one mating pair goes unaccounted

for. To prevent further outbreaks, all remaining inerts are eliminated. Project Δ-Ω is officially dissolved.

EXTINCTION LEVEL EVENT

2016

Convert numbers have risen beyond what government agencies can conceal, or control. Humanity is

fighting and losing the war for survival. It’s only a matter of time before Grays overwhelm everything

and claim the world for themselves.

2015

2020 (4NE)

NEW ERA

In the newly established Montana Den, private army general Ryan Bartholomew Aleissi and his men stage a coup to take over the facility. All

medical and scientific personnel are relegated to the labs, and Wolfen subjects are repurposed as defense assets and entertainment. First

sighting of a convert appears on the internet. The creature is named “Gray” by the general public and conspiracy theories arise about its

origins. This will later become known as the turning point, year 0 of a New Era.

theory was that such an adaptation could be “bred into” a species

and made part of its genetic make-up if introduced early

enough in the individual’s life cycle. It seemed Dr. Vukovich was

well on his way to curing death.

Before joining the forum, Dr. Vukovich and his wife, Jana were

primarily working with pharmaceuticals, studying the effectiveness

of drugs used to treat common illnesses of the time, and

the mechanisms of drug-resistance. Their findings on virus

adaptability led to Dr. Vukovich’s involvement in Project Δ-Ω.

In an attempt to acquire the process for military use and bribe

his cooperation with the Ukrainian government, Dr. Vukovich

was awarded the rank of General in the Ukrainian army in

1974. He accepted the honor, but refused to divulge any information

regarding the classified project on moral grounds.

In early 1986, just as the project leaders were planning the

technical aspects of moving the primary facility, Dr. Vukovich

was taken prisoner by the Ukrainian government. Under severe

duress, he was recorded as making the following statement:

“Nature will always find a way.”

He later succumbed to his injuries and died at the age of 82.

He postulated, and later proved, that life could prevail under

the harshest of conditions, adapting to its environment to exploit

even the smallest advantage.

His research led to the discovery of a unique adaptation of

Dr. Nejem’s field of research centered around environmentalism

and ecological balance. With the growth of oil production

and export in his home country of Saudi Arabia, Dr.

Nejem’s interest in the DNA study was fueled by concerns

about Man’s impact on the planet, and the consequences to

our continued survival.

A deeply religious man, he was decidedly against the prospect

of meddling with God’s creation of life. However, as

In 1972, in a moment of divine enlightenment, Dr. Nejem

had a vision of a future no one had yet conceived of. He was

driven to document it in a fervid two-hundred page account

which earned him the mockery of his own team members,

and a subsequent ejection from Project Δ-Ω.

In his report, Dr. Nejem predicted the birth of a species

so invasive and prolifi c it would overwhelm the planet. He

spoke of the delicate balance between native species and

their environment being irreparably disrupted by the introduction

of an artificially engineered life form which we would

neither understand nor be able to contain. He predicted

the destruction of cities and civilization, endless famine, the

breakdown of communication and travel; complete and total

isolation for the surviving individuals–the concept of “divide

and conquer” on a global scale. The report concluded with a

desperate plea to suspend the study and a prayer:

Al-Rahim, waste not your mercy on us, for we are beyond redemption. Watch

instead over our children, and their children, for they are the ones who will

suffer for our sins. Our avarice paves the road for Shaytan and they will

have no defense against him. Al-Rahman, I beseech you in the name of

all innocents, but I fear this evil we are bringing forth will be so great it will

As the only non-scientifi c member of the forum, MSG Creedy

was commissioned for the purposes of technical logistics and

security.

In 1962, during the Cuban Missile Crisis, the Defense Intelligence

Agency confiscated all blueprints associated with the

project. When she filed a formal complaint with her commanding

officer, she was summarily dismissed and advised not to

pursue the matter further. Creedy went as far as the White

House and, after sneaking into the oval office–exposing a major

security flaw in the process–presented her suspicions of a

growing conspiracy within the highest ranks of the US Armed

Forces to the Commander in Chief himself.

Her fears were not allayed. Creedy was taken into custody for

treason. The case against her was never brought to trial. All

records of her involvement in the US Armed Forces were disappeared,

and any paper trail documenting her life were destroyed.

The last and only remaining evidence of Creedy’s existence was

a blurry photograph taken in Dallas, Texas on November 22,

1963, moments before the John F. Kennedy assassination.

After being presented with the initial research along with the

other forum members, MSG Creedy astutely came to the conclusion

that any attempt to tamper with the laws of nature

could prove to be hazardous beyond the teams’ ability to contain.

Her objective during the first five years of independent research

was to design a facility large enough to accommodate

WOLFEN

the novel

Man’s quest for genetic perfection has led to the creation of

Wolfen, an evolutionary step up from humanity. But it came

with unintended byproducts: the ultimate predators. Incapable

of higher thought, converts were unstoppable in their need to

breed and devour, and when they escaped, they brought the
