Guide Lines for Guest Speakers
General
Guest speakers have become an important part of the educational experience for
students and faculty of ZPS. Students essentially get a glimpse into the everyday life
of the speaker, which they can’t get anywhere else. Research indicates that it helps
students build important connections between what they are learning in the
classrooms and the real world.
Main Purpose of Guest Speakers
Inspiration and motivation of students and faculty members through life
journey and experiences of the Guest speaker.
The overarching aim of the talk is that audience may take a piece of your
speech with them for rest of their lives, as a dream, and one day may turn it
into reality.

having basic education and illiterate grandparents.

is very low. Earning University degree is not in trend. The biggest passion of
the youth of the area is to go to USA and build big house and buy big car.
Some youth also have a dream to start own export business.
People are fairly religious. Cricket and football are popular games.
General Points. Guest Speakers may like to consider the following points
during preparation of their lectures.
Keep it Short and Sweet. Research shows that, on average, adults can
only sustain attention for around 20 minutes and that their short-term response
to the stimulus that attracts attention is only seconds. This means that when
you stand up in front of a crowd to present, you only have eight seconds to
attract the audience’s attention. Therefore, we suggest to conclude your
lecture within 20-25 minutes.
Stay humble. Guest speaker main job is to encourage, motivate, challenge
and inspire students and faculty. The more you go on about how amazing you
are and all that you’ve done, the more turned off the audience will become.
The audience wants to hear from another human that is genuine, authentic and
vulnerable.
Get the Audience Involved. You may be the one with the mic, but
it’s your responsibility to get your audience involved. No matter how good of
a speaker you are, the natural human tendency is to lose focus and stop paying
attention. As a speaker, you set the tone for the audience. If you’re excited,
they’ll be excited. If you’re bummed out and clearly don’t want to be there,
don’t be surprised if the audience feels the same way.
Personalize Your Talk. There’s nothing wrong with telling a 3rd person
story or using some case study or example. Telling stories that you lived and
experienced generally makes the story better for you and the audience.
Use humor. You don’t have to be a comedian to become a motivational
speaker, but humor makes a massive difference. Not only does Humor connect
you to the audience, it also attracts and motivates them in a much lighter
manner.
