SATION of all Igbo,
Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has
lauded elder statesman,
Tanko Yakassai for his support
to the Igbo Presidency
project in 2023.
Spokesman of the group,
Chuks Ibegbu noted that
Alhaji Yakassai has shown
his level of patriotism by this
stand and called on other
statesmen in Nigeria to join
him in this crusade.
Ohanaeze however, noted
that Igbo land is not
landlocked as Alhaji Yakassai
said, declaring that almost
half of Igbo territory
was excised to Igbo neigbhours
after the civil war by
the Mamman Nasir Boundary
Adjustment Committee
with a view to make Igbo
land a non-maritime territory.
The group also noted that
Igbo land was a big maritime
region until that deft
and wilful post-war exercise.
“Even then, Igbo land is
still a maritime region even
with the terrible act.”
Ibegbu asked Alhaji
Yakassai to go back to his
history and geography
books to study the facts as
they were before and are
today.
The group lauded the
South East Governors for the
security outfit which they are
now working hard to put in
place while expressing
hope that the second Niger
Bridge and the Enugu International
Airport will soon
be completed as assured by
the federal government.
Igbo President
without proper
restructuring 'll
be a slave to the
North

Also reacting to the development,
the former President
General, Onitsha Markets
Amalgamated Traders
Association, OMATA, Chief
Ozoh Anaekwe, yesterday,
said that a President of Nigeria
of Igbo extraction will
be a slave to the North unless
there are equal number
of states and national
assembly representatives for
all the geo-political zones in
the country.
Chief Anaekwe who was
reacting to the statement
credited to Dr. Okwesilieze
Nwodo that Ndigbo would
join IPOB leader, Nnamdi
Kanu to seek for Biafra if
they were not allowed to
produce Nigerian President
in 2023, lamented the injustice
that has been meted to
Ndigbo in Nigeria.
According to him, what
Ndigbo need is separation
like IPOB and its leader
Mazi Nnamdi Kanu are
agitating for.
"For anybody to be talking
about Nigerian President of
Igbo extraction, there is also
need to ensure that there are
equal states and equal members
of National Assembly for
all the six geopolitical zones,
otherwise, any Igbo man
elected to be President will
be treated like a stooge,
slave and errand boy to the
North.
"Nigerian President of
Igbo extraction cannot lead
us to anywhere because the
person will be controlled by
the northern majority.They
will also control him with the
majority of northerners in the
military and the number of
states they have. So, the time
we need a President of Nigeria
of Igbo extraction has
been overtaken by events.
It is no more relevant and
fashionable to us. We do not
need it any more.
"What Ndigbo need now
is total separation as demanded
by IPOB from Nigeria.
We should go the way
of IPOB. We do not even
need restructuring unless it
is one that will guarantee
equal states and equal members
of national assembly for
all the geopolitical zones in
the country.
"In my own humble opin-
ion, Igbo president for Nigeria
is late. We do not need
it anymore. Those who think
it is their birth-right should
continue with it, after all, we
have been surviving under
them even in the face of all
their injustice and insult and
killing of our people and destroying
of their property and
goods.
"What we need now is for
them to conduct a referendum
for our exit from Nigeria
for them to know how
determined we are to exit
from Nigeria. We do not need
an Igbo man to be president
of Nigeria without the majority
members in the national
assembly.
“Again, how can we turn
the mind of British government
in favour of Ndigbo.
The British government is
anti-south and it displayed
it during former President
Goodluck Jonathan's administration.
They never saw
anything good in that administration
but with the level of
misrule and killing in this one, they
have continued to keep quiet.
“They are not comfortable with
Igbos because we are intelligent
and cannot allow them to continue
their slave activities against us”,
Anakwe said.
NASS lauds Ugwuanyi’s leadership qualities
ENUGU—THE 9th Na
tional Assembly has commended
Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi
of Enugu State, for his
giant development strides in
infrastructural development
with the state’s lean resources,
as well as the qualitative leadership
he has been providing
for the people of the state.
Speaking when members of
the Senate Committee on Science
and Technology paid a
courtesy call on Gov. Ugwuanyi,
at the Government House,
Enugu, on Wednesday, the committee
chairman, Senator Dr.
(Mrs.) Uche Ekwunife, told the
governor that “my committee
and the Senate President have
asked us to first of all thank you
for being a good ambassador
of the National Assembly by the
way and manner you are serving
the people of Enugu State
despite the fact that you are
having very lean resources”.
The chairman added that the
national assembly is impressed
that the governor has
been able to provide the needed
qualitative leadership in
terms of peace and good governance.
“So, on behalf of the Senate
President and the National Assembly,
I want to commend you
and inform you that we are all
celebrating you in Abuja. You
have shown us that a product
of National Assembly can be
one of the best governors we
have in Nigeria today and actually
in Africa”, she said.
Sen. Ekwunife informed Gov.
Ugwuanyi that the committee
was in Enugu State for an oversight
function in all the National
Board for Technology
Incubation (NBTI) centres in the
South East geopolitical zone,
with the aim to promote, facilitate
and actualize the set objectives
of the agency.
While stressing the need for
enhanced partnership between
state/local governments and
the agency in nurturing and
growing technology-based enterprises
for entrepreneurs to
develop their businesses, the
committee chairman thanked
the governor for the support
his administration has given
so far.
She requested him to continue
to further his administration’s
support to the Technology
Incubation Centre in Enugu
State, to serve as a veritable
platform for the government to
create more employment for
the teeming youth and women,

that the ongoing International
Airport at Onueke,
will commence operation by
2022.
The governor disclosed this
while inspecting the projects
within and outside the metropolis.
"This is 2020, we are looking
at 2022 unfailingly to complete
this airport project. But
most of the important projects
we are passionate about completing
are the airport, the
College of Medicine, dualisation
of Abakaliki-Afikpo
Road, Abakaliki to Enugu
and the stadium. These are
the major projects we have.
"The Bible says when men
say there's a casting down,
we will say there's a lifting
up. Abraham followed God
when He asked him to follow
him to show him a land,
he believed God. When God
sends you on a mission and
you have a passion, He gives

On the airport project, Governor
Umahi explained that:
"This is the terminal building
for the airport. It is like two
and a half size of a shopping
mall. If you can trace the mall,
this is like two and a half size
of the mall. It is going to be
the biggest terminal building
in the country. We have done
almost 90 percent of the pilling
and the vocal and that's
the real work and it is where
it takes more money. What's
in the ground is more than
what is coming up.
"The tarmac is hundred
metres width, it's like ten-lane
by 4 kilometres. Tarmac is a
different thing because there's
impact load, there's traction
load and also there's dynamic
load, there is a special design,
but the earth work is
very challenging. We are going
through valleys and hills
and we are on it. You can see
the airport road. It's about 4
kilometres. The airport flyover
is being set out for construction."

Ikpeazu decries absence of federal secretariat in Abia

UMUAHIA—ABIA State
governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu,
has decried the lack of a
federal secretariat in the state.
The governor stated this during
a courtesy visit by Federal
Commissioner, representing
Abia State at the Federal Character
Commission,FCC, Mr.
Henry Ogbulogo, who was in
the state on a working visit.
Ikpeazu stated that Abia is
ripe to have a federal secretariat,
stressing that the absence
of a federal secretariat points
to the absence of federal presence
in the state. He urged the
commissioner to join the call
for a federal secretariat in the
state.
The governor noted that
Abia is one of the most peaceful
states devoid of youth restiveness
and called for a change
in attitude by the federal government.
In his words: "Despite the fact
that Abia is an oil producing
state, it cannot boast of having
any oil company with an office
in the state. None of the
companies that drill oil in the
state resides in Abia but rather
prefer to live in Rivers State
from where they come to work
in Abia and pay their taxes in
those other states."
In his speech, the Federal
Commissioner, Mr. Henry
Ogbulogo, appealed to the
governor to give the commission
necessary footing in the
state as well as compel the
State Ministries, Departments
and Agencies, MDAs, to make
available to the commission necessary
documents and nominal
rolls to enable it carry out its job.
