I have served on 8 NSF grant review panels.<br />

Over the past 5 years, I have refereed for 38 different journals - many <strong>of</strong> them multiple times - and<br />

am a reviewer for NSF (Analysis Section, Applied Math Section, Computational Mathematics Section,<br />

Digital Signal Processing Section, Topology Section, Computer Science Section, Engineering Section, International<br />

Programs Section), NSERC (Natural Science and Engineering <strong>Research</strong> Council <strong>of</strong> Canada),<br />

European <strong>Research</strong> Council (reviewing grants for the EU). I also have served on the National <strong>Research</strong><br />

Council’s Graduate Evaluations Committee.<br />

I have also served on Hiring/promotion committees at Upsala University, Sweden; University <strong>of</strong> Vienna,<br />

Austria; Odense University, Denmark; Hebrew University <strong>of</strong> Jerusalem, Israel; as well as PhD committees<br />

at the University <strong>of</strong> Cambridge, England, Upsala University, Sweden; Odense University, Denmark;<br />

University <strong>of</strong> Vienna, Austria; East China Normal University, China.<br />

2004-2005, Vice President, Missouri MAA.<br />

1983-present, High School/College Lecturer for MAA.<br />

(3) The Kadison-Singer Problem webpage at the American Institute <strong>of</strong> Mathematics, Palo Alto, CA<br />

(www.aimath.org - Kadison-Singer Workshop).<br />

University Service - Some Highlights<br />

1992-present, Excellence in Teaching Committee (Chair last two years).<br />

1996-2007, Business Calculus Coordinator.<br />

I chaired the committee which wrote the by-laws for the Mathematics Department.<br />

I chaired the committee which wrote the charter for the Executive Committee <strong>of</strong> the Mathematics Department.<br />

I Chaired the committee which wrote the faculty evaluation system for the Mathematics Department.<br />

I started and ran for several years our newsletter - Critical Points. E. Saab and I used this to generate<br />

over $1 million in endowments for the department.<br />

I have also served as Director <strong>of</strong> Graduate Studies (1 year), Colloquium Chair (Five 1/2-year terms<br />

while the regular Chair was out <strong>of</strong> town), AMS Laison (4 years), Chair <strong>of</strong> the Executive Committee (3<br />

years), Graduate and Doctoral Faculty Committee (4 years, 2 as Chair), Special Committee for College<br />
