Air Baltic offers more and more destinations.<br />
The Latvian air carrier has been building<br />
its position for almost 15 years.<br />

of Riga International Airport. As of<br />
present, the airline’s fl eet comprises<br />
31 aircraft. The number of passengers<br />
served by Air Baltic exceeds 2.5 million a<br />
year. The airline is thriving.<br />
The decision to create Air Baltic joint venture<br />
whose aim was to establish an airline, was<br />
made in 1995. In August that year, all necessary documents<br />
were signed and the fi rst Air Baltic’s plane<br />
took off in October. Initially, the company was coowned<br />
by Scandinavian Airlines, the Latvian<br />
state (the major shareholder), and various<br />
funds and corporations from<br />
Danemark, Sweden and<br />
