Architectural Doors Standards and Training
Sales features and benefits of Noise Barriers doors:
• All doors are pre-hung in the factory twice to ensure the door frame alignment is true, plumb
and square and to ensure the hardware lines up. We take photographs of each completed
door while hanging to ensure QC.
• The cam hinges are factory shimmed (if necessary) and installed.
• Door hardware is factory installed.
• Magnetic jamb and head seals are factory installed.
• The bottom seal is factory installed
• This is a field adjustable seal which ships to the site in the “up” position to protect it during
construction.
• Do not allow other trades to prop open the door by wedging anything under the door
• Do not allow other trades to run electrical cords under the door.
• The door bottom must be adjusted (lowered) in the prior to field acoustical tests or project
turnover.
• If door includes a window the window is factory installed.
• If the door includes a closer we install a mounting plate to make field installation easier.
• Each door has its own installation drawing and installation detail sheet. This simplifies the
“approval” process, the door ships with the drawing to simplify the receiving and staging
process and the drawings are included with the shipment for the installer to use.
• Doors and frames are “match” marked. Each door should be used with its corresponding
frame. Do not mix frames and door leaves.
• The doors and frames come with a standard one (1) year warranty. We can offer a three (3) or
five (5) year warranty if this helps secure an order.
Note: Other sound door manufacturers (except IAC) send the doors to the site as a “kit” that needs
to be installed by others. This take a great deal more time to install than our door and the end cost
is as high or higher than our door. Important: Who guarantees the field performance of site assemble
doors?
Features of Noise Barriers’ doors:
Frames:
• The frame is the same for all STC doors thicknesses except for the NIC 70 door.
• The frame for the NIC70 is different than the lower STC frames.
Sizes:
• Largest leaf size for standard Architectural Doors is 48” wide x 144” high or 60” wide x 120” high.
• Larger doors must be Heavy Duty doors.

NIC70 5.0” thick Triple Magnetic Seals, weighs 22.4lbs/sq.ft.
STC56 3.5” thick Double Magnetic Seals, weighs 21.5lbs/sqft.
STC54 3.5” thick Double Magnetic Seals, weighs 20.9lbs/sqft.
STC52 2.5” thick Double Magnetic Seals, weighs 16.1lbs/sqft.
STC50 2.5” thick Double Magnetic Seals, weighs 10.7lbs/sqft.
STC48 2.5” thick Double Magnetic Seals, weighs 10.7lbs/sqft.

Design features
• Adjustable, mortised, Teflon covered bottom compression seal.
• Mortised Box for hardware.
• Internal reinforcement for door closers.
• Single leaf, double leaf, unequal leaves, bi-folding configurations, small leaf in a big leaf, “Mr.
Ed” configuration one large leaf, a personal leaf with a leaf above it. (See DePaul photo)
• Flush or with windows.
• Windows (also referred to as borrowed lites).
• Four standard sizes (See attached drawing).
Hardware:
• Cam-Lift hinges (NBL proprietary hinge)
• Two per leaf on 3o7o Doors
• Three (3) or four (4) per leaf on wide and/or taller doors.
• Standard hardware is Schlage L9000 Series mortised lock with lever handle (03) trim.
• Special backset for lock ---(see details in hardware TAB)
• We will use other hardware but the lead time may be long.
• We prefer to not use Best Lock hardware.
• We will prep for hardware supplied by others but prefer not to. We charge for this service and
we must have the hardware in hand prior to fabrication. If we prep the doors we will install the
hardware at no additional cost.
• We will not use Cylindrical Locksets. Due to the door weight it is easy for them to break off while
in use.
• Drop Down Extra Clamp Seal
• Standard closer is the LCN 4041 with one of three options (refer to quote).
• Hold Open
• Optional Closer is the Falcon Model…looks identical to LCN. Do not use this closer if an LCN is
specified or quoted.
• Standard Coordinator to allow double leaf doors to close in the proper sequence is from Dorma.
• Standard Panic Exit Device is Von Duprin model 9975.
• Standard Automatic door Opener is the condor Model by Motion Access.
• Thresholds: We offer aluminum as a standard but we can provide steel thresholds.
