Welcome

Welcome to the 2019-20 Bristol Hub

Impact Report, an opportunity for us to

celebrate the incredible impact

created by student volunteers in their

local communities, the personal growth

of our students, and a space to explore

the future direction of Bristol Hub.

Although we're a team of two, we've

been able to lead and be a part of

exciting developments. Our 'Active'

programmes have been running for two

years attracting a new audience of

volunteers and now working with more

young people across the city. Schools

Plus has remained our most popular

project, which now offers virtual

tutoring. LinkAges launched a

Japanese Memory Group for students

to learn about memory loss and support

residents at St Monica Trust and lastly,

the Social Innovation Programme is fully

adapted to run online, which was

piloted during quarantine measures.

Our student committee continue to be

the powerhouse of our work. This year

they've supported volunteers, built a

community and run some ambitious

and successful events such as a

Sustainability Showcase bringing

together local charities and businesses

and a Food Waste Cafe to reduce

waste and raise money for Caring in

Bristol.

Why does it matter?

Bristol Hub inspires students to use their

power and potential to shape a better

world, connecting them to opportunities

to make a difference during their time

at university and encouraging students

to become active citizens for life.

We provide students with the

opportunity to do practical

volunteering, skilled placements and

microvolunteering. Through all of our

opportunities we believe that students

learn about social issues, connect with

one another and develop valuable

skills and experience. At the same time

communities benefit from fresh

perspectives and added capacity and

resources.

The changes to our lives and work

during this year have been challenging.

We're mindful of how this alters working

with students and our community, but

have already seen the willingness to

adapt and learn. We're excited to see

how we can support our communities in

a testing but dynamic climate.
