WelcomeWelcome to the 2019-20 Bristol HubImpact Report, an opportunity for us tocelebrate the incredible impactcreated by student volunteers in theirlocal communities, the personal growthof our students, and a space to explorethe future direction of Bristol Hub.Although we're a team of two, we'vebeen able to lead and be a part ofexciting developments. Our 'Active'programmes have been running for twoyears attracting a new audience ofvolunteers and now working with moreyoung people across the city. SchoolsPlus has remained our most popularproject, which now offers virtualtutoring. LinkAges launched aJapanese Memory Group for studentsto learn about memory loss and supportresidents at St Monica Trust and lastly,the Social Innovation Programme is fullyadapted to run online, which waspiloted during quarantine measures.Our student committee continue to bethe powerhouse of our work. This yearthey've supported volunteers, built acommunity and run some ambitiousand successful events such as aSustainability Showcase bringingtogether local charities and businessesand a Food Waste Cafe to reducewaste and raise money for Caring inBristol.Why does it matter?Bristol Hub inspires students to use theirpower and potential to shape a betterworld, connecting them to opportunitiesto make a difference during their timeat university and encouraging studentsto become active citizens for life.We provide students with theopportunity to do practicalvolunteering, skilled placements andmicrovolunteering. Through all of ouropportunities we believe that studentslearn about social issues, connect withone another and develop valuableskills and experience. At the same timecommunities benefit from freshperspectives and added capacity andresources.The changes to our lives and workduring this year have been challenging.We're mindful of how this alters workingwith students and our community, buthave already seen the willingness toadapt and learn.
