Sector NewsNews 11‘AYUSH for Immunity Campaign’launched by Ministry of AYUSHEnthusiastic response in digital space with over 50,000 people attending itby our ReporterNew Delhi: The Ministry ofAYUSH launched a three-monthcampaign on “Ayush for Immunity”today, through webinar in whichmore than 50 thousand people participated.The keynote address was by spiritualGuru Sri Sri Ravisankar, whereinhe stated that Ayush solutionscould lead the entire world tohealthier and happier lives.The Webinar was staged on AyushVirtual Convention Centre (AVCC),the new digital communication platformof the Ministry.The event was also streamed liveon the official Facebook handle ofMinistry of AYUSH and observed atotal live viewership of 60,000 people.The other key speakers includedVaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary,Ministry of AYUSH; Milind Soman,celebrity and fitness icon; Dr.Geethakrishnan, Technical Officer, WHO;and Prof. Tanuja Nesari, Director,AIIA.Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankarspoke about the need to enhanceimmunity and the requirement of alifestyle change in the current scenario.He presented a larger vision of thepotential life-enhancing influence ofAyurvedic and other Ayush practices.Secretary of Ministry of AYUSH,Rajesh Kotecha elaborated on thetheme of the event, i.e. accessibleand affordable health for all,through Ayush solutions.He emphasized on the need forbehavioural change in peopletowards immunity enhancing steps,and highlighted the evidence whichhave established the positive role oftraditional medicines and practicesin enhancing immunity.He mentioned various initiativesthat the Ministry is planning tolaunch under the umbrella of the“Ayush for Immunity”campaign.Milind Soman shared his viewsregarding health and fitness andencouraged citizens to practicehealthy living which he said,requires minimal but steady effort.Prof Tanuja Nesari shared therecent experiences of All India Instituteof Ayurveda in preventive andcurative activities as part of the fightagainst Covid-19.The set of evidence which shetouched upon was of considerableinterest to the audience.Dr.Geetha krishnan, TechnicalOfficer, WHO, spoke on the conceptof health in relation to the pandemicand how setting up good infrastructureand adopting effective communicationare crucial for avoidingspread of diseases and ill health.Public engagement and interactionwere high in the webinar, throughQ&A sessions in between presentations.Questions asked by variousattendees were addressed by thePanel of experts for the event.The panel included Prof.Vd. K.S,Dhiman, Director General, CentralCouncil for Research in AyurvedicSciences ; Dr. Ishwar V. Basavaraddi,Director, Morarji Desai NationalInstitute of Yoga ; Dr.SatyalakshmiKomarraju, Director, National Instituteof Naturopathy; Dr. PadmaGurmet, Director, National ResearchInstitute for Sowa-Rigpa ;Dr.Raghvendra M. Rao, Director,Central Council for Research inYoga & Naturopathy ; Prof.Asim AliKhan, Director General, CentralCouncil for Research in Unani Medicine; Dr K. Kanakavalli, DirectorGeneral, Central Council forResearch in Siddha and Dr. AnilKhurana, Director General Incharge,Central Council for Research inHomeopathy .The experts addressed the questionsand highlighted the key stepsthat can be taken to remain healthythrough simple practices.They shared their experiences andfindings, within a scientific framework,with the public.As the key objective of the eventwas to acquaint the people withvaluable information about strengthsof various Ayush-based solutions forenhancing immunity and preventingdiseases, the event concluded with afinal immunity message for the citizensfrom each expert.These messages revealed howsimple measures adopted in dailylives can go a long way in preventingdiseases.
