S U P P O R T
for refugees and homeless
in ATHENS
Since May 2020, following the recent policy of the Migration
Ministry, Greek government started to evict recognized refugees
from their accommodations.
During the quarantine we were able to collect donations
through the community of `Respect for Greece`.
We cooperated with following organizations:
MORE THAN 8,300 RECOGNIZED REFUGEES ARE KICKED
OUT FROM ACCOMMODATION AND QUIT CASH
ASSISTANCE. They face high risk of homlessness in general and
now even more with COVID-19!
Mainly affected are vulnerable groups:
ELDERLY PEOPLE, PREGNANT WOMEN, SINGLE
MOTHERS, CHILDREN, PEOPLE WITH SPECIAL NEEDS
KHORA
The `Khora project` has a free shop in Exarchia offering
clothes and other basic items for free to people. In addition
they run a kitchen in Kipseli with daily food preparation
for more than 800 meals in order to distribute to refugees
and homless people. During the high of the quarantine
they delivered up to 1.500 meals daily.
Due to this new situation, people are put in overcrowded camps
without providing accommodation and food or are stranded
helpless and homeless on the streets of Athens under miserable
conditions and not able to meet necessary hygienic requirements.
ALLOS ANTHROPOS
O `Allos Anthropos` is a local self-organized project for
providing food to people in need. And offer around 300
meals per day in different areas of Athens.After the first
evictions of the flats, the members of O Allos Anthropos
distributed every day food and other necessities for the
people in the Victoria square in Athens.
INDIVIDUAL CASES
Our organization `RESPEKT FÜR GRIECHENLAND`
supported Khora and Allos Anthropos until now inter alia with:
• FOOD
• HYGIENIC ITEMS
• Special case: WHEELCHAIR for a beneficiary of Khora
(a 23 years old man from Syria)
Since February 2020 we were able to support individual
cases of homless families and minors.
We secured the basic needs for more than 15 minors and
families with donations for food and housing and gave
out survival packeges:
including sleeping bags, hygienic products, blankets etc.
