or a member of the employee’s household has been in close contact has recently visited a place
known to be experiencing community spread of COVID-19.
The Superintendent or Human Resources Director have authority to direct employees reporting any
COVID-19 exposure to either report to work or remain at home depending upon the circumstances.
The quarantine period will last for 14 days from either the date of exposure.
“Contact” is defined as being within 6 feet of a person with COVID-19 for a period of 15 minutes
within the past 48 hours. For example, a person who rides the bus or sits in a classroom within 6
feet of a person with the virus for 15 minutes, the person would be considered a “contact” and
would need to be quarantined for 14 days. If the person later learns that he/she tests positive for
COVID-19, then the isolation protocol would begin. If a person has “contact” with a “contact”, this
person does not require quarantine.
Leave Usage
If an employee is exposed to COVID-19 during the course of employment or sheltering while at
home, the employee is eligible to use paid, administrative leave for up to 14 days.
If an employee is exposed due to travel to a restricted state as defined by the Ohio Department of
Health, the employee will use sick leave to cover the 14 day quarantine period.
Positive Test
