IS IT FAIR FOR SHAKESPEARE TO OVERSHADOW CERVANTES?
More that four hundred years ago died Cervantes and Shakespeare, and the people of each
language – Spanish and English – search commemorate and celebrate this important date.
These writers are considered of parents of each languages for its followers actually and
everyone search to prove who is the bigger author.
I think that the difference into Cervantes and Shakespeare, is related with the same languages
cultures of each them, the differences into the cultures about the advance between these is
notorious, the culture English language is evidently higher to the Spanish at the moment, for
this reason the interest by the different elements owns of each languages had been of different
level for the persons. Thought both languages were born contemporaneously, the people
culture are in different position, while the people of English culture have been interesting in
the reading and in the develop of literature, the Spanish culture wasn’t interested in this so
much. I like believe that the globalization and technologies allow the culture development
without import the nationality or geographic position, everybody have access to the information
and the culture, something that the people didn’t have before less fifty years approximately. In
the future everybody will be same of cultured or for less will have the same opportunity of
know.
In place to fight about of who was the best literary, We must honor them searching to get better
own culture not only one or other, but rather as the English knowledge as Spanish, we have to
start with read Don Quixote but not the summary and the Shakespeare works, without import
the language, that We together as friends, brothers and humans, that We belonging of earth
planet. Then the question is not - is it fair for Shakespeare to overshadow Cervantes? – because
this is not important, the important is whatever we are doing to put the culture and language
aloft.
