Heep Hong believes that the<br />
staff force of nearly 600<br />
people is the foundation of<br />
our success. We strive to<br />
develop staff abilities and<br />
support them to make career<br />
progression compatible with<br />
the changing needs of service.<br />
Developing our people<br />
Last year, to assist staff in developing<br />
their potential, the funds allocated for<br />
staff development was increased to<br />
encourage staff of various disciplines to<br />
participate in a wider array of training<br />
ranging from professional and language<br />
courses to customer service skills<br />
development. We also motivated and<br />
rewarded our people in an environment<br />
that values performance, giving<br />
recognition of outstanding<br />
contributions by rewarding high<br />
achievers with individual and team<br />
performance awards. We will continue<br />
to reward employee performance<br />
through a multi-level, multi-faceted<br />
award system.<br />
Fostering employee relationship<br />
Communications are paramount to staff<br />
relations. While a newly-launched staff<br />
newsletter keeps staff updated with the<br />
latest developments of Heep Hong,<br />
internal consultations were conducted<br />
to discuss emerging initiatives or<br />
change issues. In particular, the Annual<br />
Staff Forum and Director’s Visit to<br />
centres both provided constructive and<br />
open channels for staff to express their<br />
views as well as discuss matters that<br />
affect daily operations.<br />
Our strong team spirit is being<br />
continuously reinforced through many<br />
staff welfare and staff relations<br />
activities. Staff and their families had an<br />
enjoyable time at the corporate picnic<br />
and movie screening sessions.<br />

Building a healthy team<br />
Heep Hong makes every effort to provide<br />
a healthy and safe working environment<br />
for its staff. Educational sessions and<br />
activities were held to promote the<br />
importance of physical fitness and mental<br />
health. The inter-centre competition with<br />
the theme of Back Care and the Mental<br />
Health Slogan Design Competition have<br />
raised staff’s awareness of occupational<br />
health and safety. As a result, the injury<br />
rate last year was substantially reduced by<br />
30%. The dynamic, high quality and<br />
healthy staff team of Heep Hong has<br />
contributed to our efforts in achieving our<br />
vision.<br />
