Few of us could have guessed at the start of the year that by March the world as we knew it wouldcease to continue as it had done and words we weren’t used to saying such as social distancing, lockdown and Covid-19, became everyday words. This pandemic has affected the world, touching ourlives beyond anything we could ever have imagined, like something out of a film or comic book…This has been a very challenging time for everyone, with schools closing for many pupils in manycases with little notice, with teachers working hard to get work out to parents, parents working fromhome, leisure & entertainment venues closed. Uncertainty led to mounting fears as concerns of howthe virus would affect our families and friends, with internal questions unanswered as to how our lovedones will avoid becoming infected, being hospitalised or passing away.We knew that now more than ever we needed you to know that you could still contact us to chat aboutanything. We wanted to help you better understand that your worries & concerns were normal and wewanted to help you through creativity and self-education to discover the facts of Covid-19 not just yourfears. We wanted to support you while you your family and friends kept safe, and to help you to find away to make some sense of this in providing you with an outlet to share your experiences, fears orconcerns through the art of storytelling. This, as with all of our comics, was created by you by taking part in our competitions to create newvillains - representing Coronavirus and Uberheroes to combat it; we were overwhelmed by the qualityof your designs, your attention to detail and by how many of you sent in your amazing designs. Thesewere sent to our judging panel who selected four designs to go out to public vote, with votes comingfrom as far away as Europe, Australia & America.Coroman and CoronaBot 2020 were the winning entries for the villains, with Curador and SansoRoboDog being voted as your new Uberheroes. You created the 20 pages of this comic and this wasbased on your experiences of how the pandemic had affected your life. This story is based on yourfamily connections, your ideas, your fears and concerns, your hopes and dreams once lockdown iseased, and the eventual production of a vaccine, ending the threat of this deadly virus once and for all. We’ve loved your creative ideas and designs, your group input on your personal experiences havebeen so inspiring to read and now to share with thousands of other kids across the country andbeyond – Thanks to you all for making this happen! We’d love to hear your thoughts and opinions on this, our Twelfth issue. You can do this by visiting us at .www.uberheroes.co.ukThis comic is not intended as a substitute for medical advice of physicians.
