WARREN TECH SOUTH

HORD COPLAN MACHT | JEFFCO PUBLIC SCHOOLS

Littleton, Colorado

Size : 28,000 square feet

Estimated Completion Date : June 2021

Role : design architect assistant, project architect assistant, details, visualizations, documentation

4

Warren Tech South is a high school CTE program open to all Jeffco Public School students. This project is a part of the Jeffco Public Schools 2018 Bond Program.

The one-story 28,000 SF school will specialize in audio and video production, hospitality, physical therapy, and Aviation programs. The center of the school will hold a 200 seat theatre for

students to perform and learn lighting, rigging, sound and video design. An airplane hangar will house the aviation program where students are able to work on full scale airplanes and simulators. The design for

the school is inspired by the idea of craftsmanship on display, where the building is a teaching tool for the students. The design approach for Warren Tech South aspires to create a school that is open and inviting for all, has its own identity

(due to close proximity to Dakota Ridge High School), and displays the great work of the students and faculty within the building. The school should be a home away from home, as the majority of students are traveling here from other communities.

The open main commons will act as a living room space that connects to the outdoors where students can gather, collaborate, and have larger functions. Exterior and interior design will showcase a theme of craft and pride in workmanship through masory

and metal detailing. The community, faculty, and students have a lot of pride in the great career and tech education/work that goes on within the building, so the building will be a showcase of that work. A large mural within the commons will be a first

impression piece that showcases the students applying the skill they have learned. Interior windows will give people a glimpse into the programs and what is going on inside the learning spaces. A modern industrial theme is a goal within the project to

inspire students, and affirm that the skills they are learning here are appreciated and needed within the community.

SOUTHEAST ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

HORD COPLAN MACHT | POUDRE SCHOOL DISTRICT

Loveland, Colorado

Size : 77,000 square feet

Estimated Completion Date : August 2021

Role : project architect assistant, details, visualizations, documentation

6

The new Southeast Elementary in Loveland, Colorado will be a two-story 77,000 square foot

school serving students in grades PK-5. The interior design of the school will replicate climate zones found

In the mountains, with a lower elevation “lush” feel on the first floor, and a higher elevation “alpine” theme on the second

floor. The site has been designed to connect to the mountain landscape with visual connections to the Front Range and landscape

elements which pay homage to local landmarks and provide Learning opportunities. It includes three parking lots, with bus drop off loop,

playgrounds, and hards-cape play areas. Emphasis has been placed on including opportunities for individualized learning, opportunities for socialization

and conversation, problem-based learning and project based learning, collaboration, visual and physical connections to the outdoors and natural environment.

The Coverall design goal has been to create a community-centered environment where each student knows that they belong.

Neighborhood Point at Downing

is not only a Library and Light rail stop,

but a social gathering place for a neighborhood

facing transition fivepoints, Denver Colorado. Gentrification

is an unsolvable social and physical issue, but can be curved

when people come together to understand new customs, cultures,

and traditions shared by the people they live next too. Neighborhood Point

is a space that purposely promotes social interaction with strangers, weather that

be planned or spontaneous. Furnishings: Intimate small human scaled furniture and interior

architecture details make shared spaces feel safe comfortable enough to sit next to a stranger. Public Space:

Neighborhood point has a multitude of social gathering places with in it, from casual such as the outdoor courtyard,

to more formal, like the class room and conference room, these spaces were made to share ideas and experiences,

meet a friend, and start something new with someone you just met.

“The greatest thing one can do is to help someone know that their loved and capable of loving”
