The Curriculum for WSA soccer is a living document. It is the "always becoming" instructional plan, that helps provide the guideposts for 

learning and teaching inside the WSA Soccer Program. The history of devleopment of The WSA Way curriculum is now, and has been 

throughout club history, the ongoing analysis, appraisal, and assessment of methodology and outcomes. It is specific in detail, and wideranging 

in scope of reach, as well as broadly stretching in terms of flexiblity towards the learner (the PLAYER) and the teacher (the 

COACH). 

The curriculum includes periodization planning cycles, age specific objectives and outcomes, and value-driven transformative goals. The 

WSA Way is NOT a rigid teaching model, it is not an absolute, it is not a one-size fits all model, and it is not the best methodology for all. 

The WSA Way curriculum does not replace the team culture or individual team game model that is most intimately connected to the 

player's experience. 

The WSA Way is a paradigm, a lens of perspective, offered each player, coach, team, parent, administrator, and leader of WSA. It has 

been shaped by history. When we look through the lens of The WSA Way it includes every success, every failure, every small and great 

challenge, every training session, every game played, every moment shared, and all of the great lessons learned from our respected 

opponents and competitors along the way. Embracing the curriculum is a way of not only connecting to history, but also in shaping the 

future. It becomes each WSA player's, coach's, parent's, and administrator's, LEGACY. 

The WSA Way is a way of playing football that reflects on a culture of the organization. Therefore it is "value driven" and "core 

competency" laden. There is a mission behind the curriculum that drives the specific goals and objectives for player outcomes. The 

WSA Way is intended to fulfill the mission of generating a supremely valuable player experience, development as player and person 

through the challenge and struggle of growth, and forming relationally to something bigger than ourselves. It is a Way to live, to play, to 

become, and to relate. The curriculum contains a game model and this model connects an on-field culture to an off-field culture. When 

executed properly, when the right person intersects this way of teaching, learning, and interacting, the mission of transformation takes 

place, and a process of reaching our best, our maximal capacity, as a player, teammate, and person is realized.

HISTORY OF GIRLS SUCESS IN OKLAHOMA 

RECENT TRENDS 

The club’s recent sucess inside the Girls Program at WSA is a quite remarkable turn-around. WSA began in 1992 primarily as a Boys Club. With only 25% of it’s membership through 

2000 on the female side the club organically began to take steps towards developing a female specific program to complement it’s tradition rich boys programming. While the WSA 81 

girls were multiple times a state semifinalist, the club was first able to produce multiple age group teams competing regionally with the 89, 90, 91, 92, 93, 94, 95 girls programs. 

 

The WSA 90 Girls became the first girls team to represent the club at USYS regionals in 2007, followed by the WSA 92 Girls, WSA 93 Girls, WSA 95 Girls, WSA 97 Girls, and WSA 98 

Girls. The ’92 girls finished 5th at Regionals in 2010. In 2017, in the club’s final year with USYS, the WSA 98 Girls reached the USYS National Final 8, where a goal conceded in injury 

time in their last group game would tie a game and move the team to a GDF tiebreaker, where they would be eliminated from their national championship hopes. Since then the 

following WSA programs have qualified for nationals: 2000’s, 2001’s, 2002’s, 2003’s, 2004’s, 2005’s, 2006’s, 2007’s, 2008’s, and 2009’s. 

 

With the opportunities far and wide for female college soccer players, and WSA sporting a robust college search program, the girls program has regularly sent players to the college 

level since the ’81 girls graduated in 1999. The numbers have soared recently with 30+ female commitments being made annually for the past decade.

HISTORY OF BOYS SUCESS IN OKLAHOMA 

Consistency of Standard 27+ Years 

One of the club’s proudest achievements, is the consistency with which teams finish their youth club journey, graduating as a team of homegrown players. The club has only had 

one program not complete it’s journey through senior graduation (19U) in it’s 28-year history, since club inception of 1992. To clarify information below, the club has multiple 

teams per age program. We have only listed the age division “program”, not each team, for this demonstration. ONLY the BEST FINISH of the PROGRAM is listed. Per example, 

WSA 01 White played WSA 01 Red in the 2018 State Final. We did not record both results below. WSA 01B White won their 4th State Championship, but for purposes of recording, 

we only recorded 1X State Title for the 01B Program. 

Since 1997 any club in America could have only produced 24 graduating age division programs. OF THE 24 POTENTIAL GRADUATING AGE DIVISION PROGRAMS SINCE 1997, 

WSA has graduated 23! Since 1997 any club in America could have only produced 31 age division programs. OF THE 31 AGE DIVISION PROGRAMS since 1997, WSA has had 27 

age division programs finish top-4 in Oklahoma, 10 different programs win over 20 State Titles, and 20 of the 31 AGE DIVISION PROGRAMS finish at least top-2 in Oklahoma. 

WSA is the Boys Competitive club standard of consistency.
